Dru Down – Can U Feel Me?
1. Intro
2. Playa fo real…Tight production, good hook and dope lyrics. 4/5
3. Baby bubba…Features Bootsy Collins. Dru Down puts it down on this song. Head noddin’ beat. 5/5
4. Can U feel me?…Easily the best song on the CD. He flows his off throughout the song. 5/5
5. Choppin’ it up…Nice flow and good beat. 4/5
6. Head & shoulders…Song has an old school type feel to it. I’m not really feeling this one. 2/5
7. Mista busta…A good diss song aimed at Too Short. Tight flow and production. 4/5
8. Hustlin’ ain’t no thang…Slower beat and a slower flow. It works well. Dru uses more of a mix of singing and rapping than he does in other songs. 4/5
9. The game…This is more of an interlude done by C&H. It’s a nice addition to the CD though. 4/5
10. Breezy…Featuring the Luniz. The beat is tight with a xylophone or windchimes in the background. It fits the song perfectly. 4/5
11. Freaks come out…Dru sings more than raps over the beat. I really don’t like the beat though. 2.5/5
12. Deal went bad…Good story telling by Dru. Beat is decent. 3.5/5
13. Underestimated…Average all around track. 3/5
14. I’m wondering…A decent track with a catchy hook. 3/5
15. Suspect one…Another example of Dru Down’s storytelling ability. Nice laidback beat. 4/5
16. 500 mobsters…Solid production matched with a flowin’ ass Dru Down. 4/5
17. The mobb…I’m really not diggin’ the lyrics or beat all that much. 3/5
OVERALL…7.5/10
A dope sophomore LP. There a couple of songs to skip, but there are plenty more NOT to skip. Dru Down definitely has a different style of spitting his raps with a mix of rapping and singing and changing pitch in his voice. He has great storytelling ability as well.

Totally disagree with you on that one. TOTALLY!
Lord Funk:
Bumped. Here's my take. Went in blind on this one, only having hear Dru Down's appearance on The Luniz' "Put The Lead On Ya" before. I was pleasantly surprised. Despite (or maybe because of?) being as camp as a row of tents, the guy is a pretty charismatic rapper.
1. "Intro"
Pretty much exactly the same intro as The Luniz' Operation Stackola. Presumably to give a sense of cohesion. Or laziness. N/A
2. "Playa Fo Real"
A far, rolling Battlecat beat, added points for the G-funk whining synths. Dru does that kind of singing-rapping flow Snoop used to do that makes them sound a bit fruity. Works though. 3.5/5
3. "Baby Bubba"
Best song here, hands down. The beat is fucking awesome; a pimped out, slow-rolling Oaktown groove. Dru Down just tears it up, slipping into his Bootsy Collins voice (which he does a lot better than Snoop) every now and then. The hook's great too. 5/5
4. "Can You Feel Me"
Samples some 80s rap track. It's a typical on-the-grind track, but I'm not really feeling the throwback vibe. I've heard people say this is the best track on the album, which makes absolutely no sense to me. 2.5/5
5. "Choppin' It Up"
Basically, the whole track is Dru Down talking to his mates, flipping between lines on his phone. It works better than you could possibly imagine, and the beat is just classic Bay Area. There's a great bit where he's pretending he's about to be robbed to see what his pal says. It makes sense if you hear it anyway. 4/5
6. "Head & Shoulders"
Another horrible sounding 80s-style track. The chorus, considering it's about heterosexual relations, sounds really fucking gay. 1/5
7. "Mister Busta"
A Too Short dis. The beat is pretty horrible, but a few of the lyrics save it ("Ought to put you in the trunk with your tapes" is about as good as it gets, actually.) 2/5
8. "Hustlin' Ain't No Thang"
The beat is interesting; lots of weird sounds and vibes coming in and out of the mix. Dru Down's flow is boring though. And, while this is beginning to sound repetitious, he does sound sort of fruity on the hook. 2.5/5
9. "The Game"
A three minute interlude where Dru Down's mate talks shit over a wack beat. Could have done without this. 1/5
10. "Breezy"
Dru Down and The Luniz over a Bosko track. You pretty much know this is going to be the shit, right? 4/5
11. "Freaks Come Out"
A cool, smooth groove with LV on the hook. Dru Down is best when he's on party or pimp shit like this. All the wack tracks here are when he tries to get gangsta with it. A CD of chilled tracks like this would be much doper. 4/5
12. "Deal Went Bad"
Run of the mill beat with some shitty little hand claps. Can't concentrate on this one for long enough to follow the story he's telling. 2.5/5
13. "Underestimated"
The beat is average and Dru's verses are okay, but what stands out here are Soopafly's verses. The guy is just a monster on this track. In fact, most of my marks for this song are just for his rhymes. 3/5
14. "I'm Wondering"
Wow. This track sucks. 1.5/5
15. "Suspect One"
The storytelling on this is actually pretty good, but it's all so over-the-top I can't take it seriously. Basically, Dru Down robs an old woman, then decides to kill her as well (why not, right?). Then he gets a face lift so people won't recognise him. Really, that's it. 2.5/5
16. ""500 Mobsters"
Love this beat and the hook is great too. Nothing spectacular as far as the theme, just Bay mobb talk, but the track has guts. 4/5
17. "The Mobb"
This track shouldn't work. The mixing is poor, so the (overused) Isaac Hayes sample is way too distanced from the beat. Plus the female on the hook is awful - absolutely fucking terrible. I can't come close to understanding the first line she sings. Oh, and the song is seven minutes long. But for some reason, I love it. The Luniz are on it, as well as some blokes they presumably know from the chippy. It's fucking great. 4/5
OVERALL: 3/5 There are some great Bay tracks here, but shit loads of filler too. Not close to Operation Stackola, but you could probably guess that.
