Nas – Stillmatic
1. Stillmatic…Tight opening track. Nice flow and lyrics. 4.5/5
2. Ether…Nas’s answer to Jay-Z’s ‘Takeover’. Nas comes out on top with this gem. Unique beat and the lyrics are off the hook. 5/5
3. Got ur self a gun…Tight ass song with a sample from ‘The Sopranos’. Smooth beat which incorporates a piano loop. Amazing flow. 5/5
4. Smokin’…Very laidback beat. Lyrics match perfectly. Catchy hook. 5/5
5. You’re da man…Hard hitting beat. Once again, amazing lyrics. Chorus is very simple, but it sounds great. 4.5/5
6. Rewind…Great display of story telling. Plus the story is told backwards. A very different type of song. 4/5
7. One mic…The beat and flow starts off soft at the beginning then gradually the beat gets heavier and louder and Nas’ flow get more intense and angry. Another unique song. 5/5
8. 2nd childhood…Hella laidback beat. Lyrics lace it well. A+ content. 4.5/5
9. Destroy & rebuild…Disses aimed at Nature, Cormega, and Prodigy. Quality production and good lyrical content. 4.5/5
10. The flyest…Features AZ. Good hook. Good verses. 3.5/5
11. Rule…Faster tempered track. Song talks about what’s going on in the world. 3.5/5
12. My country…Average song, but dope lyrics. 3.5/5
13. What goes around…Nice lyrical content, good production. 3.5/5
14. Every ghetto…Lyrics are on point. Average production. 3/5
OVERALL…8.5/10
Nas comes with straight heat for this album. He starts out hard with amazing lyrically content and untouchable production. Tracks 1-9 can be listened to over and over again without growing tired of them. However tracks 10-14 dilute the album with slightly above average production. The lyrics are decent there still, but that same quality production is lacking on that end of the LP. Minimal guest appearances is a big plus. Overall, high replay value.

Tight review, I think "Rewind" is 5/5 though.
I agree on pretty much everything else, pz.
