Daz to feature in Young Buck's new video
« on: May 06, 2004, 08:13:22 AM »
This is some pretty cool news to me. More exposure for Daz in the run-up to the release of ''So So Gangsta''. I guess that DPG-Unit connection is still in motion. Anyway, here's what I read about this news over at http://www.aftermathmusic.com:

'' YOUNG BUCK - VIDEO SHOOT // (Dedicato)

Yesterday afternoon brought a homecoming for a Nashville homeboy who has hit it big. Rapper Young Buck shot the first video for his major label debut album Straight Outta Cashville, with the help of a few famous friends.

South Nashville's tiny Claiborne Street — with its modest single-family homes — was the stage where nationally renowned, multi-platinum rapper 50 Cent and up-and-comer Lloyd Banks joined their associate Buck to film the video. Shot in a parking lot between a small church near the J.C. Napier Public Housing complex and a pastel green frame house, the video also has Buck rapping on top of a rental truck. The video features noted cameos from 50 Cent, Banks and noted hip-hop producer Daz.

The video shoot became a block party. But when 50 cent emerged on the set, clad in a garnet-and-gold baseball cap and white headband, the crowd went crazy. Young girls giggled into their cell phones. When Buck's bass-heavy single played over the loudspeaker, many of the kids bopped their heads along to the beat. (Source: Tennessean.com) ''

Hmm, kronik of DPGRecordz.com posted that Daz was going to feature on ''Straight Outta Cashville'' and that Daz and Buck had recorded two tracks together - maybe he WASN'T bullshitting ???

Also good to see is that Daz's new single ''Party People'' is getting some rotation on the mixtape circuit. As well as appearing on the So So Def remix of ''Tipsy'', ''Party People'' is featured on the latest DJ L mixtape, which I spotted over at http://www.mixunit.com

It's funny; no matter how much hype and enthusiastic news I read about Daz and all his plans for the future, I just don't see him ever having any real success again.

I'll take it all back if So So Gangsta hits, but it seems that even when he releases good product he can't go anywhere. If anyone was born not make it, it's Daz - unfortunately. I don't even think rolling with G-Unit will help him...

It would be good if he made it big again.

Lord Funk, I feel what you're saying. I've always been a big fan of Daz and yet, as much as I would like to see him blow up and see ''So So Gangsta'' become a success, I can't deny that I have my doubts. I still believe that JD and So So Def will give his record a decent push promotion-wise but whether or not Daz can ever attain or be embraced by a commercial audience remains to be seen. Already some long-time fans are disgruntled that he hooked up with Jagged Edge as it is seen as ''selling out'', although I can't really comment since I haven't been able to hear the track anywhere yet (anybody got it - holla!). However, I can't imagine many teenyboppers taking to Daz's current ''gangsta'' style so a collabo with Jagged Edge doesn't seem too strange to me. To put it simply I'd rather have a classic, expertly produced Daz album that isn't a major success, than a platinum-shipping, radio friendly and watered-down CD - although to witness Daz blow up regardless of the quality of his release would be great for him and the West Coast, and would surely please more than a few people.

Despite these doubts, signing to So So can hardly be considered a bad move for Daz. Whilst he may not take over the mainstream, it at least gives him the chance to attempt that and the possibility to experience that type of success. After being in the game for as long as he has, I think Daz has earned that opportunity. I honestly wish him the best of luck and in spite of of how well it sells I have a feeling Daz is going to deliver quality wise with his next record.

Oh yeah, and let's be honest - like them or loathe them, if anyone can open Daz to a broader audience its G-Unit! Some people may argue that hooking up with them detracts from his credibilty, yet I see it as a smart business move with the opportunity of some decent (and attention grabbing) collaborations. Surely no bad thing...

Yeah, I know what you mean. But the problem is - and I hate to say this - I don't think Daz as a solo artist is good enough to capitalise on that. His best days are behind him.

The main problem I have when I hear a Daz verse these days is that he hasn't got any charisma. Say what you like about 50 (I'm the first to say 80-90% of his lyrics are weak), but the man's got a presence on rcord that makes up for it and makes him a star. Daz hasn't got that anymore for me.

So even when he pops up in these G-Unit videos and releases his So So Def album, I can't help but feel he'll be viewed as a has-been in the mainstream: some 'old-timer' who helped Dre and Snoop blow up 10 years ago... :-\

Daz still has talent IMO, but due to his personal life he'll never be anything again. What a fuck'd up lil' person he is.

Daz is doing better than he was doing ..I mean no matter what Daz does he receives hate..people used to bitch about Daz not "adapting" to times musically..Now they complain about him trying more "modern" times hip hop..He just can't win with most you people

I think his album is going to sell well.  He will go gold.  Hopefully Jd will let himmake a video to  "Party People".  And hopefully his album will be release no later than August.

Daz will be in this video.  Daz was in the "tipsy" video.  And both his remix to "tipsy" and "party people" are on the newest mixtape.  His single is also getting rotatation.  So quit hating and let the man do his thang.

G-Unit's Young Buck is going country -- recently recording his first video for his highly anticipated debut LP entitled Straight Outta Cashville in Nashville, Tennessee.

Buck was joined by his comrades 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks along with former DPG member Daz Dillinger on the video set. Parts of the video were shot in various locations in the country music hometown, including Nashville's Claiborne Street and the J.C. Napier Housing Complex.

Buck' Straight Outta Cashville is scheduled to be the second release from 50 Cent's G-Unit/Interscope Records and will hit the streets this June.

I'd sure as hell love Daz to push 100k.......wich might be a possibility with JD and G-Unit giving him a push.
People say 'he hasn't got charisma',this might of course be true but I don't consider that many succesful rappers to have real charisma.
If Daz has a video with cameos from JD,G-Unit and very likely,Snoop, I'm sure that won't be bad for the succes of that single. Damn, even if the mainstream audience buys his single because it's got a 50 Cent guest appereance I won't be pissed cause at leat it'll give Daz succes and recognition, while also helping a record from the west reach good sales.

Daz might be somewhat of a loser but damn, maybe his purpose is to bring the West back after being an underdog! ;D
