I don't want to delve into the whole iraq war being right/wrong, but the latest argument, and most legitimate, for starting the war was to stop the torture, humiliation and murder that saddam imposed. 1/I'm not the same religion as you. I'm not part of any religion, wasn't brought up that way.
2/We are not the same culture. At all. Our countries are thousands of miles apart. Ireland's culture has no links with america other than emigration.
3/How are we the same blood as you? Or do you mean the same colour?
4/ How can I be a traitor to america when I have no allegence, ancestery, or any connection to the country?
5/ The only traitor is you, who condones NON-AMERICAN, NON-DEMOCRATIC atrocities. Even your own president condemned them! You bring shame to the american name simply by supporting these actions. At least bush has the balls to admit when things are terribly wrong, something you sorely lack.

Are you going to deny that the United Kingdom, the USA, and all other western countries have a unifying set of values and principles that our at the core of our cultures. We are all a product of western civilization. And yes we do share the same blood and religion, I have Irish ancestors as do a huge percentage of Americans. Now western civilization is clashing with Islam and you are siding with the enemy. You bash America and defend Abu Hamza and his cronies. It is digsuting. Wake up man, we are on the same side. And when did I justify the Iraqi prison abuses commited by the US soldiers? I never did. I just called you out on your blatant double standards, in this case only bashing America when prisons all over the Middle East have torture a million times worse than what the Americans did. You don't care about the Iraqis, you just care about bashing America.

Man, i dont just care about bashing americans, i have some great american friends.
and i agree, there are a set of principles and values that western society believes in and THAT is why these abuses should be condemned unanimously, because they fly in the face of all that. I know abuses occur in other middle east prisons, and the reason i got on americas case is that they claim to be a positive force, yet the events of this week have proven these soldiers are no better.
I am not siding with "the enemy" or "terrorists". I am siding with basic human dignity, those soldiers were terrorising those prisoners, and I am against that.
There is not a huge clash of cultures, but people like Bush and Bin Laden are directing the vast majority of ordinary citizens, east and west, towards this type of situation. Of course, target terrorists, but what we are seeing now is feeding hatred of the west more than any rallying bin laden could muster.
