Prince Paul is contemplating releasing one last solo project before hanging up the mic. Other than working on the Handsome Boy Modeling School album with Dan The Automator, Paul has started working on his next solo record, which he says may be his last.

"I may do another record and it will more than likely be my last," Prince Paul told BallerStatus.net. "I’ve already started, it’s going to be retrospective. Hopefully, when you listen to it - - you will say 'I like this record.'"

Paul was first introduced to most of the hip-hop world when he joined Rza's group The Gravediggaz. Paul says back then he had something to prove and that was what made him make such a dope record. He wants to recreate that on this new album he is working on.

"When I made the Grave Diggaz record, it was strictly from the heart," Price Paul told BallerStatus.net. "Back then, I had a point to prove - - that I wasn’t wack. That’s the zone I’m in for this next record."

Last year, Prince Paul dropped Politics of the Business to lukewarm responses from critics and fans. There was no video, no radio single, just a mockery of the hip-hop industry in its present state.

Even though, the album was a commerical flop, Paul says he had low expectations and he feels he might have lost some people with it.

"My expectations were really low. When you expect less, you are not disappointed," Prince Paul said. "The album was more like a parody. I was almost rebelling against the practices. It was a few layers of thought put into that record. I think that I lost a whole lot of people on that record."

Right now, Paul and Automator are working on finishing the next Handsome Boy Modeling School album, which may drop late this year. As for the his next solo album, there is no title or expected release date as of yet. Stay tuned!

Politics Of The Business was good, I'm looking forward to this one.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
