Yeah, but this is about the U.S. market, I bet the Japanese market and European market look pretty different.

Besides, games is a 100x times bigger industry today, than it was only a few years ago.
When PS3 launch, I bet it's gonna crush PS2 sales.. more marketing, new audiences, bigger and more games & better marketed games..

100 times?  No it's not.  It's grown nearly proportional to the population growth around the world since the 80's.  There are atari games all over the fucking place.  I sell used video games, my brother and I collect them; and there's no way you can tell me that the PS2 has outsold say, the Atari 2600 in terms of videogames, or fuck, I'd doubt even systems.  Videogames have always been huge, and they're still huge.

Nah, games sales exploded..
It went from being something for teenage geeks to a mainstream audience, everybody and their mother plays/buys videogames now..

Games sales is bigger than the movie business now, the movie industry was several times bigger than the gaming industry only a few years ago..
