He was killed. He saw a helicopter which brought back memories from when a helicopter cut off his hand. so he ran outta the hosptial into the courtyard to get some air. the helicopter took off from the hospital, and snagged something and crashed right on top of him.

What else happened in that episode...I think I turned off the tv a little early.
