There is no need to convince that Australia is a great country - he obviously cant see a difference between loving your country and thinking your country is the best.
thinking your country is best is called arrogance
loving your country is called patriotism
there is no best country just like there aint no best culture, best language,
best lifestyle, best person etc.
btw, australia is a great country and i love it very much - except its being ran by a wanker and its treatment of aboroginals and refugees is shocking

Ohh i agree, i vote Labor, Green Peace or Democrats anyway, Liberal party (which is currently in power under John Howard) is more about the rich getting richier & the poorer getting poorer
The Refugee thing is shocking, i agree, but the Aboriginal treatement is a bunch of bullshit, & i'm a person who is so not racist & believe everyone shouldbe treated equaly. Well the Aboriginals get special benefits financially & in terms of gaining employement, they have been for years even people with 1 tiny drop of Aboriginal blood in them gets all these outrageous benefits, & all thats seem to have done is taught them that they can get a free ride in life by calling the race card, & they can just sit back at home not get a job & just get money for nothing, & then most of them drink it all away
Its a sad state of affairs, but its definately not all our fault, i reckon the system needs to be changed to help Aboriginals get educated & help there community get out of the struggle, not give them a free ride to get boozed or high

Sorry i assumed becoz on this forum & other forums with talking to Americans they all seem to think its crocodiles & bush, sorry for making the assumtion
& no ones saying u cant prefer America over Australia, but to come out right & say "America is the best country, all you guys are 2nd" is wrong. As Kain said, theres a difference between National pride & arrogance, & by saying America is the best country it is a dissrespect to the rest of the world, & you dont here any other countries doing that
Thats all the problem is. No one has a problem with being proud of your nation & having national pride, but theres no need for this best.... stuff coz as Kain said there is no best religion no best language no best culture those things shouldnt be judged & cannot be in a fair way
