JESUS WALKS WEST

While Kanye West has been at the forefront of self-promotion and breaking the mold of what a rap artist or video should sound or look like, he's done it again with "Jesus Walks". With this third single from "The College Dropout" (fifth if you count videos for "Slow Jamz" and the little seen "Two Words"), Kanye has filmed three videos for "Jesus Walks". This in itself is ironic, considering that before the success of "The Passion of The Christ", this may have been the hardest song to get even one video shot for. But regardless, Kanye's raised the bar for rap videos again, letting networks take their pick at which video they like best.

MTV & BET are rolling with the Michael Haussmen version, which features Kanye playing preacher-man, while shots of gritty inner-city crime are cut in. Meanwhile, the more artsy Chris Milk version is the edit MTV2 has chosen, which features much more controversial imagery, including a KKK member carrying a burning cross. The third version of the video is a homemade edit, directed by Kanye West and Channel Zero, which humorously, yet respectfully, spotlights a day in the life of Kanye West – with Jesus at his side, producing bread and fixing cripples, just like magic. This version is being shown exclusively at MTV.Com. Meanwhile, Kanye is set to release a SIXTH single from "The College Dropout" soon, a Lil' Jon remix of "The New Workout Plan". Remember what I was saying last week about how to work a rap record? Over 2 million sold.....

Meanwhile, Kanye mentioned to MTV that they would probably produce a DVD with all of the "Jesus Walks" videos. However, Kanye is at the point with this album where he can release "College Dropout: The Videos", and sell a ton. With a total of seven videos done ("Two Words", "Through The Wire", "Slow Jamz", "All Falls Down", "Jesus Walks"x3) and possibly a "New Workout Plan" vid in the works, what better way to salute this already classic album at the end of the year? Somebody at Roc-A-Fella should start writing me consulting checks, dammit. Speaking of which...... - Pizzo

I'll give him credit on that all three verisons of Jesus Walks are VERY different. The Chris Milk one is the best though.

Does it keep that funky breakdown at the end with Bosko on voicebox? That made the OG - if it's gone, then :(
