TQ..."The Second Coming" Track By Track Review.
Murrow:
Sup ya'll, Incognito here comin @ ya with my second review. This time I'm gonna do an overview of TQ's second album that hasn't been officially released yet. BUT...I was lucky enough to get a REAL copy in Europe.
COME AGAIN (INTRO): Nice lil introduction with TQ just payin homage to all the dead homies.
G.H.E.T.T.O.: An upbeat song with TQ just singin his ass off. He calls out Sisqo for being a punk-ass bitch who dyes his hair, LoL. A good song with a good beat too. 4/5
INTERNATIONALLY YOURS: One of my favorites. This is a song dedicated and is about all the overseas peeps. The hook is incredible in my opinion, TQ does a nice job fo sho. Plus the beat is somethin to listen to as well. 4.5/5
DAILY: This was the first single which dropped about a year ago with a video and all. It interpoliates Biz Markie's "Just a Friend. A good song overall.
SUPER BITCHES: Not my type of song, I think it disrupts the flow of the album. This is an uptempo song about super bitches...LoL. 3.5/5
CAUGHT (INTERLUDE)
HOW CAN I BE DOWN: This is my least favorite track off the album. Again, not my type of shit. TQ doesn't fit well with this type of shit. Plus JaRule is on this song so...2.5/5
HOLD IT DOWN: Shit, this is my type of music. Str8 heat with a nice soldier theme. Man, this hook is HOT too. Really, a nice song. 4.5/5
WHAT THE FUCK (INTERLUDE):
BEST FRIEND: Another great song. Great lyrics by TQ over a faced pace guitar driven melody. 4.5/5
ONE DAY: Warren G beat!! LoL, this song credits Layzie Bone for being on it but it's really E-40 instead. Don't like E's part, but the rest is tight. 3.5/5
MOMA (INTERLUDE)
LITE-SKINNED FRECKLE FACE: GREAT song about TQ's moma. It's a deep meaningfull song with a great beat and chorus. 4.5/5
HARD-LIFE: Man, the hits just keep on comin. Another good song with tight singin & a nice beat. 4/5
THE GRIND: Oh yea, Warren G produces this one AND EVEN DROPS A BAR! Yea, he recycles his verse from the track "Friends" but oh well. Good beat & hook. Only thing would be a better verse from Warren. 4/5
The One: A deep song that may not be for most of the peeps in here. I gotta admit I don't even play this song a lot either. 3/5
BEEN A LONG TIME: This is my favorite song off the album, and it reminds me of this past summer every time I play it. I can feel TQ here, great singin backed up by a good beat as well. 4.5/5
*BONUS*: This song isn't listed on the back of the CD, but it ain't bad. It's a really upbeat song to end off the album. 3.5/5
My album for the summer of 2000, PERIOD. I didn't even expect to buy it, but TQ came as a surprise to me...big time. I like that r&b shit, but he ain't really r&b. He's more deep, and soulful. He can even be a gangsta too. I bought this album IN Europe, and to this day it has never been released in the US. TQ's label fucked him big time by releasing it behind his back and not telling him. SO thats why it was only in Europe. TQ left Sony and is still trying to put this album out. I hope he does, I consider myself & anyone else who has this album to be lucky. This is a great overall WC album, that's what it's all about. TQ handles 5 songs for the production, and all the beats are blazin! Wow, I enjoyed every song except for about 2. Probably my favorite r&b/soul album of all time. Though this album is STILL rap y'all. I can't complain...8.5/10.
I know BDogg has heard some songs...if anyone else has, tell me what you think. Also tell me what you think of this review.
Sikotic™:
I really wanna get my hands on this album. Songs like "Internationally Yours", "Daily" and "Light Skinned Freckle Face" are what make this album really special.
Nice review Dawg.
Murrow:
On the real, TQ came wit some hot shit for the summer. How did you get to hear those songs?? I thought you got a hold of a copy?
Sikotic™:
Nah my friend burned me a copy of it. He didn't put all the songs on it though (that dumbass). I heard most of it and its off the hook.
NobodyButMe:
i got the album and i've been listening to it since september. personally, i really like that song "the one", even though he does have some corny ass lines in it.
you forgot to mention that along side his diss to sisqo, he disses ginuine ("i ain't never seen a nigga dance with no broom") and prince ("i ain't never seen a nigga wearin no high heel shoes") all on the same song "GHETTO"
if anyone wants this album, give me a holla, and maybe we can work something out....
