In the streets of New YorkDope fiends are leaning for morphineThe TV screen followed the homicide scenesYou live here, you're taking a chanceSo look and I take one glance, there's a man inside an ambulanceCrowds are getting louder, I wonder how thePeople want to go fight for the white powderPeople hanging in spotsThey waited until the blocks got hot And got raided by the copsI'll explain the man sleeping in the rainHis whole life remains inside a bottle of Night TrainAnother man got his clothes in a sackCause he spent every dime of his rent playing blackjackAnd there's the poor little sisterShe has a little baby daughterNamed Sonya and Sonya has pneumoniaSo why's her mother in a club unzipped though?Yo that's her job, Sonya's mommy is a bar stripperDrug dealers drive around looking hardKnowing they're sending their brothers and sisters to the graveyardEvery day is a main event, some old lady limpsThe pushers and pimps eat shrimpsIt gets tiring, the sight of a gun firingThey must desire for the sound of a sirenA bag lady dies in an alleywayShe's seen the last of her days inside the subwaysMore and more down the slope, the kid couldn't copeSo he stole somebody's dope and a gold ropeNow my son's on the run, he's a wanted oneHad fun then was done by a shotgunUpstairs I cover my ears and tearsThe man downstairs must have drank too many beersCause every day of his life he beats his wifeTill one night she decides to pull a butcher knifeBlind man plays the saxA tune called “The Arms on My Moms Show Railroad Tracks”Many lives are cut shortThat's when you're livingIn the streets of New York
Usually the first verse that comes to my mind is Roscoe's verse on "I Call Shotz". He kills it. I also really like Crooked I's verse on the "Wake Up Show Anthem #7". A true lyrical masterpiece.
