He has to buid up a large fanbase now that he's hot, so that he can be supported when his career matures.  That's why he's doing things with everybody from Mobb Deep to Brandy, from Hoobastank to Maroon 5.  The more people know of him, the more likely they are to check his music and keep checking for him when he's not as popular in the mainstream.

He's gotta do it the Dre way.

He puts out albums, does promo for like 7,8,11 months max, then disappears until he puts out his next shit. That way people want more of him.

Right now, every other song on the radio is a kanye joint or something he produced. It's a little tiring.
