No, because Payton wouldn't have retired if the Lakers would have kept him...Not sure about Fox retiring, he said he would retire last season, but he should finish off his career in Boston, where he started, and I think he will...As for Payton, I think Boston will trade him if he decides not to play...I doubt we'll see Payton retire, that's just a threat...So it's:

Gary Payton, Rick Fox, a 1st Round pick, & $2 mill+ to Boston for Chris Mihm, Chucky Atkins, & Jumain Jones...Like I said, the trade just went from decent to below decent...PeACe

No homie. Only 2 teams where Payton could go are Los Angeles (Clippers?) and Golden State. But they arent interested.

Fox is discussing with Celtics how to get out the contract and retire. It's sure.
Payton didnt even fly to Boston yet, and he doesnt want to play no more for them.

Right now Boston has no players from this deal.

If they want to trade Payton now, every single team in the NBA knows Payton doesnt want to stay in Boston, so they know Celtics cant make big requests. And if you cant make big requests (like Lakers with Shaq), you never to a good deal. Plus, like I said, Payton want to stay in Cali.

I think he'll retire for real.

And even if Celtics trade him, there are 0% chances they'll get good players in return.

There are more teams Payton wants to play for, including Houston.

I've read he wants to stay in Cali or Vegas (but there are no NBA teams in Vegas. Yet), cause his kid is about to go to school, and he doesnt want to move from Cali (he has home in L.A., Oakland and Vegas).

Anyway Houston has just signed Bob Sura, Charlie Ward, and has Tyronne Lue as PG. They dont really need Payton IMO.

Finally some good news for the Lakers. Kobe is pratically 99% safe from the criminal trial, and Malone 99% won't leave, playing another season. Atkins, Kobe, Odom, Malone, Divac + a lot of young guys in the bench can be enought to try to reach the playoffs.
