Seriously though, I've read that incest doesn't cause birth defects, it increases something called homozygotes. Now if the homozygotes present and passed down do not encode a birth defect then the children are less likely to ever develop defects or pass them down. It's when the HZs do contain te defects that it becomes a problem. So from what I understand, only if the two family members share the same dangerous threats will the child be in danger. If the two members do not sahre them then there is no danger. Now if new studies disprove this then fine, I just wanted to know if there were new studies and if someone could explain to me. I'm not doubting it, I'm simply trying to learn something.
