Paris says "America Gets What It Deserves"
« on: November 04, 2004, 04:49:32 AM »
Paris wrote an in-depth article only one day after the elections entitled "America Gets What It Deserves". The title speaks for itself, he expresses his opinions and feelings with facts, and I suggest you take 5 minutes to read it.

America gets what the people decided.

These people that think that their opinion is the only truth, and who does not agree with him is blind and is wrong make me sick. More people disagree than agree, so maybe he should stop and think about it before disrespecting (even if he does in a polite way). With those words he's proved he's a fanatic. You can defend your opinion, but if you can't accept other people's opinion you are a fanatic.

I do not favour Bush, but the people chose him. Get over it.

After four years of lies, murder, back-room deals, dead soldiers, poor education, a faulty economy, reduced civil liberties, increasing crime rates and racial intolerance he still managed to capture the popular and electoral count.

And I still find that hard to believe...after 4 years of nonsense.

An election this close must make us take pause. Maybe, after all, we aren't nearly as far along as a country as we would like to believe. And while it's true that for tens of millions of Americans, Bush will never be our president, all we can really do now is apologize to the rest of the world for validating this simpleton and his racist imperialist policies--and brace ourselves for the worst still yet to come. Apparently, we must hit some sort of new low between now and 2008.

It's true...from what I've heard, most of the countries in this world were for Kerry, simply because of the fact he's a bit more tolerable in things, and is willing to negotiate more; whereas Bush has his opinion, and that's it, period. In a democracy you should be open to other people's opinion...once you don't do that anymore, it's more of a dictatorship to me.

Funny detail...As you may know, Belgium's system is also a democracy, and every political party in Belgium was hoping that Kerry would win this time around, except for one party: "Vlaams Blok", which is known for its racism. It's extreme-right...When you ask the average Belgian citizen what they think of when they hear the name "Vlaams Blok", terms like "neo-nazi's" pop up in their mind.
So the fact that they are for Bush, says enough...don't you think?

*inside* the US they adhere to democracy and voting for things etc etc.. outside the US they can do what the hell they like if its in america's interest.. thats not what democracy is!

I feel everything Paris said in that article. He's speaking the truth. Unfortunately the rest of the nation refuses to see it. It's a shame.

that was a really good article... thanks for the link.

There is so much to say... I'll just say this.  I think if things continue the way they are going, something will "break the camel's back" and Bush will likely have domestic hell on his hands when the people begin to demand social change like during the civil rights movement.  The country is deeply divided and Bush needs to be careful and actively do things to unite the country... if he doesn't, he could have the makings for a type of civil war (<------ not like the one during the slavery days, but more like the one during the civil rights movement in the 60's).

Don't you folks realize, that when you keep blaming Bush, Bush, Bush, and saying how closeminded he is, you're in reality doing the same thing?  You ponder and ponder but can't understand why he received the most votes......... *EVER........ for a president in the United States.  He also received more than half of the popular vote........ for the first time since 1988....... when his DADDY received HALF of popular vote.

This isn't a fluke, people.  America WANTS this guy in power.  They've voted, and resoundingly chosen him.  You may not agree with it, but wishing civil war upon the country just because your political candidate lost? Are you crazy?

Republicans hated when Bush lost, and Clinton was elected, then when Clinton defeated Bob Dole overwhelmingly.  We never, Ever, ONCE suggested Civil War, though.  Why? ... because it's just politics.  You wait for change.  Change that lasts takes time.

You folks lose an election, and want to overthrow the government, call everyone that voted hicks, etc. etc. etc.

Learn to cope.  Learn how hypocritical you're being.

^ I'm not wishing for civil war... I never called people in the Red states hicks.  What I'm saying is that this country is deeply divided and that absolutely needs to be addressed by whomever is sitting as president.  If Kerry would have won by the same margin as Bush did, I'd be saying the same thing.... the president needs to be careful because this country hasn't been as divided as it is right now for a while.  When a country is deeply divided down the middle, it has the potential makings for a civil war.  That's all I'm saying.

Republicans did not suggest civil war when Clinton won both elections because it was by a considerable margin... the country wasn't as divided.

I wish the president all the luck & wisdom in the world... I hope he is able to unite this country... but IMO, given his record, I don't think it will happen.
