Hellraiser Becomes a Weekly TV Series
Pinhead is in your living room!

December 16, 2004 - Pinhead wants to come to your house for dinner.  Or maybe a late lunch.

In a break from traditional television series, the producers of the new Hellraiser series are going to put the focus on the bad guys.  The new series, reportedly announced this week according to a story on the Mediadrome website, will pit a tabloid reporter against Pinhead and a wealthy software magnate.  The two have hatched a plan that threatens the world and only our tabloid hero can stop them.  Sounds doomed from the start.

Clive Barker, the creator of the Hellraiser books, has successfully adapted his creation into a form of episodic storytelling in the past.  But that was for comics where you can get away with a lot more than you can in regular television.  No mention if this production is for cable or syndication and calls to Barker's representation weren't returned by press time.

This wouldn't be the first time that television has attempted to focus a series on a big screen villain.  Freddy Krueger, the villain from the Nightmare on Elm Street series had his own series, Freddy's Nightmares, which turned the burn scarred psychopath into a sort of mean spirited Rod Serling.  That series died an ugly death as have most series that have tried to take this approach.  Only time will tell if Pinhead and his bizarre looking minions can beat the odds or if this project will even make it into production.

Check back with IGNFF for news on this interesting project as it happens!

It's probably gunna be a psychological thriller with Pinhead showing up for about 30 seconds a show, just like the last 4 "Hellraiser" movies...

Well, Pinhead is the main character of all the Pinhead movies, but in the last 4 movies he shows up for a couple of minutes...I doubt Doug Bradley is gunna get heavy into a TV series...Hopefully it'll be good, but I don't know.

he might be the main villian but he by far plays the main role in the last few movies. in fact he's been pretty much reduced to co star in the last hellraiser movie... Kirsty was pretty much the main evil bitch

and i don't think doug would be too apposed to this tv series, it's not like he has a busy work schedule, he doesn't even know when his movies are coming out...the guys pretty much worked himself into a one role career and it's too late for him to get out now

The movies still revolve around him and he is still considered one of the main characters...I don't know about this show, they should work on releasing the last 2 movies first.

About the movies? They're still trying to get them released. Nobody really knows what's happening, other than Dimension is really holding back on releasing them...
