West Coast Albums With East Coast Beats........

2pac- "Me Against The World". These beats sounded East Coast to me. Infact, 2pac almost even sounded like an East Coast rapper on this album.

Xzibit- "At The Speed of Light". -The classic sing "Papparazi" may have sounded like a West Coast beat, but the rest of the album, and especially the Golden State Warriors posse cut sounded way East Coast to me.

Ice Cube- "Amerikkka's Most Wanted".- Cube did this on purpose. He fled NWA and headed all the way to the East Coast, got with Public Enemy and put together this classic album.

Any others?

I disagree with Me Against the World. That album had that distinctive bay area mob sound, with the exception of the Easy Mo Bee tracks. Tracks like Heavy in the Game, Lord Knows, and It Ain't Easy have that bay area sound and fuck the world was produced by Digital Underground and the title track has that high pitched funky worm sounding distortion thing that was common on west coast tracks back then. To me, the album sounds the most "bay area" musically of all of pac's albums.

With amerikkka's most, it sort of does, but bomb squad really toned down the chaotic nature of their production. I don't see it as the production sounding east coast, it's more like talented producers tailoring their beats to fit Ice Cube's style.

I do agree with you on Xzibit's at the speed of life. With Diamond D producing most of the tracks, it does have more of an east coast feel and the production just has a dark feel to it and was very sample heavy, which was different than most west coast rap at the time.

I agree with all those, but the eastcoast-sounding tracks on the 2Pac were scattered.
