For those of you who haven't been following the trend.
Republicans should be proud to know that 52% of the country distrusts the president. The numbers above speak volumes, but if you'd like more analysis see:

look. bush is going to destroy social security whether or not he gets privatization. just yesterday greenspan was talking about how ss benefits would need to be cut at some point in the future:
http://money.cnn.com/2005/03/15/commentary/column_hays/greenspan_socialsecurity/index.htm?cnn=yes
earlier this week there was a discussion in a house committee about how medicaid benefits were going to be cut. these record deficits. all the money is tied up in defense and security. if you look at the upcoming budget, the discretionary spending proposals were something like $439 billion for defense. $409 billion everything else. but there's another $89 billion for the war supplemental. and the $409 billion includes homeland security spending iirc. so ultimately ~70% of discretionary spending is tied up in defense and military and security. the squeeze in discretionary spending is already in full effect. social security, medicare and medicaid are non-discretionary sending. the u.s. govt absolutely will pay whatever that liability turns out to be, but you see greenspan talking about cutting ss benefits. the house was discussing cutting medicaid benefits. this shit is like a grover norquist wet dream.
