Probably the best ever is "My Love" by Paul McCartney, but my personal favorite is "Brandy" by looking Glass.  Recent stuff, I'd say the best love songs of the past 5 years or so are "Speechless" by Michael Jackson, and "All My Life" by K-ci and Jo-Jo.

"My Life" by the beatles was gangsta, too.  "Oh My Love" by john lennon, also... and Paul McCartney, "Maybe I'm Amazed" is crazy.  I can't pick just one.
