here is something i wrote on the Golf GTI forum i post on....  I have a metallic black '97 MK3 Golf GTI 16v


i also just got a thing called a "clay bar" to use before waxing.. it makes the car BLING like a mirror! 
havent tried it yet.. but i've seen the results from other peoples cars

ok, here are the three ways i wash my car.. lol.. black car owners should have a counselling group.. LOL!


'the quick wash'? used in the winter when its too cold to be outside for long or when not got much time etc..

1.. do the whole thing with something like triplewax shampoo or whatever..
2.. hose the car down

u can leave it here.. but for better results...

3.. drive it about 10 miles *cough* fast *cough* to dry it off.... hehe

negatives..sometimes u get speed streaks.. risk of getting caught by the fuzzz...? or u notice u missed a bit when u get back..


'regular wash' used in the summer when you cant be bothered to wax...

follow the 'quick wash steps' but instead of going for a drive (or jsut leaving it..)? use a damp chamois to dry the car... this gives a pretty good finish!


'the works'

1.. complete a full 'regular' wash..
2.. wax on.. cover the car in wax in stages
3.. wax off.. BUFF BUFF BUFF! (this gets your arms) alternate panel by panel with step 2 if your arms hurt too much so they get a rest.. lol
4.. do the windows with window cleaner stuff... then rainex too if u have some
5.. remove junk, empty bottles, receipts etc from the car, shake out the mats and hoover them and the car insides out
6.. if u got leather interior like me.. apply leather conditioner feed stuff..
7.. have a beer and admire your handiwork until it rains and ruins it..
