Master P was definitely up there in 96-97 and 98 with his "Ice Cream Man" and "Ghetto D" albums. It was the No Limit era. Songs like Bout It Bout It, Make Em Say Ugh, Burbons and Lacs were bumpin everywhere. It wasn't talkin about anything new in particular, just money, drugs and hoes. But everybody no matter where they were from loved these southern rappers. Theres also the fact that people from the south supported there artists a lot whoever it was. I think his last good album when P was good and hardcore was "The Ghetto's Trying To Kill Me" in '94. I dont think it sold that much but it was definitely a south classic. Master P never hadn't that much talent as a rapper but damn that man was more entertaining than anyone out of the south back in the days. If it wasn't for Master P, most of these southern rappers you hear today would probably not be in the game today. Same goes with Cash Money and all of these gold toothed pimpd out niccas from the swamp  8). Gotta give props to a lot of downsouth artists like Geto Boys with Scarface, Outkast, Goodie Mob, DJ Screw, ESG, UGK, Eightball & MJG for puttin it down for years.

Scarface & Geto Boys put the South on the map. but as far as that (garbage ass) "dirty south" shiet everyone seems to like so much - yeah it was juvenile. i mean yeah Cash Money took No Limit's whole style but they made it bigger (and they actually had some songs even i liked).

^^^^^^^
exactly what i mean. it started the trend where the south was the cool shit to listen to. It went from quality south music like outkast, goodie mob, and geto boys/scarface to the southern bounce shit that they play all day at the clubs.

I wouldn't say it STARTED the west coast movement, but it did have a bigger impact than any other album

naw see master p put the dirty south on the map around 96-97....and by 99 and 00 thanks too juvenile's "400 degreez" selling...that put cash money on the map...and cash money was the next label that kept the south going while no limit was starting to fall....so basically master p. made the south bigger....while juve blew up cash money and kept the south moving to the new millenium...
