Don't think that Man City should get Liverpool's place from the UEFA cup though,

This means they could face Everton in the third qualifying round, but not Manchester United, and could be in a group with Chelsea, but not Arsenal.[/li]

I've nothiing against Man City but why should English football get 8 teams in european football?  The rules are set out at the start of the season & all clubs/FA's know how many clubs they have for Europe the following season

As for Rangers not in the CL, c'mon the champs of all nations in Europe should be in the CL, the competition has lost the prestige that it used to have, when clubs that finish 2nd in a league go straight into the group stages and champions of other countries have to qualify and when clubs that finish 4th in their respective leagues can go into the 3rd round qualifier but champions from the smaller nations have to go into the 1st round qualifier that demeans the competition imo.
