Lakers-Pacers Trade
« on: June 17, 2005, 12:17:14 PM »
Eric Pincus of www.HoopsWorld.com reports... Jonathan Bender is indeed on his way to Los Angeles along with the 17th pick in the draft. In return, the Lakers will send Devean George, Slava Medvedenko and a second-round pick

This is a great trade for the Lakers,I'm guessin the pacers want to get rid of Jonathan Bender contract & want players who have 1 year left in ther contracts wich d.goerge & slava are..

i like the 17 pick, that's going to give us 2 first rounders in the first 20 picks  ;D 8)

ya but is bender really a consistent basketball player, i dont think he's gonna make that big of an impact, i think the highlight is that 17th pick, but then again i dont know if the beef of the draft is  gonna be very good. THat 17th pick willl get them a good player tho

I dont remember who said it first, maybe Addicted to Beef. We already talked about this scenario, yeah. Anyway Bender is a player with a good potential, who can play 3 positions pretty well, even if he's not a superstar and he'll probably never be. Bender (a good fit for the triangle) + the 17th draft pick in exchange of George (good underrated player, if you ask me) + Slava (just too inconsistent in defence to play for the Lakers more than 6-8 minutes a game) is a great trade for both the teams so, as a Laker fan, i'm happy about it. Now we can trade our #10 & #17 picks, if necessary, to get an higher draft pick or a pretty good player, hopefully a PG.

That sounds like a good deal to me. It's a decent amount of players I would like to see with the Lakers that come out this year. I just hope we get Felton and not fatazz Sean May

I dont know, man. Raymond is not a good fit for the triangle. Plus he's 6-0 or something. Phil prefeers tall PG's, like Ron Harper (shit i miss him!). But he got skills, that's for sure.

I called this trade a long time ago. now all u hating ass bitches could get off my nuts.

Mitch Kupchak likes Felton but he is High on Gerlad Green. Mitch is doing all he can to move up in the draft around #4,#5 to snatch him. Granger is also another player he likes.

if we don't move up which i doubt, Felton is expected to land on us @ #10.  Mitch also believes on taking the Best Player despite available despite on what position you play. portland passed on jordan for sam bowie cuz portalnd needed a center. thats how mitch sees this draft. take the best player available.

you could expect another trade to go down around the NBA draft. Lakers also have their eyes on Kevin Garnett which is a FACT. will the trade go down?? thats only on minnesotas part if the owner is willing and if KG convinces the owner to let him go.

I don't like this trade...I mean, what the fuck are they going after players like Jonathan Bender for when they KNOW that they need a bigger/better name who is more consistant...I mean, the trade simply wont make a difference, unless they have a lot more trades in mind, which involve this trade...Honestly though, I think it'd be a better idea to save Devean George, and if they wanna get rid of him, they could easily think up a deal that would benefit them more...Something like the George and Butler for Boozer trade rumors we were hearing earlier...Jonathan Bender and a 17th pick just doesn't do it for me...PeACe

ya...i think george and bender nearly cancel themselves out, except maybe bender will give more, but i think the #17 pick is the only big plus

Bender sucks. He's been picked early, that's the best thing you can say about his ass. With the picks it's just a lucky luck shit. You can get a future franchise play with a not too early pick (Dirk) or a great player with a late as hell pick (Ginobili) or a good player with a late pick (Howard, Boozer) and there are also great players who havent even been drafted (Ben) - yet there are also players who just plain suck and have been drafted early as hell, like Olowakandi, Milicic (till now at least) - and also Bender =).

And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

I think all the players in there suck ass lol. (or are just role players)

Lakers purpose in this trade was easy...the 17th pick...worth a lot more to teams during trading time

this is a pretty good small trade, that sux that we have to get rid of george i like the dude but it's a GREAT thing we're getting rid of slava. Bender is good i like him he'll be a strong role player and depending on the 17th pick this will either be a steal for the lakers or a flop

think of it like this  george+slava saw no time last year we get rid of 2 trash players we dont need for someone like bender hes  been injury prone but if he works out  then alrigh if not by 2007 mihm bender n others become free agents n we drop 28 million on the spot so either way it works for the lakers ;D
http://www.cashcrate.com/index.php?ref=15899 (link)   shits real easy.. you just click the name of the offer you wanna do... do what the instructions say.. and then hit submit...

you can make about 80$ without doing any cc offers!!!! no bullshit

George saw no time because he had knee surgery, but he posted up excellent numbers in that short period of time when he did return...I think dumping George for a players who didn't come close to meeting the expectations wouldn't be so great...Is that 17th pick really worth that much? I guess they also really wanna move some small forwards, but why the one who is most familiar with the triangle? And at least they can get a player who actually plays in return...Shit, I know the Lakers could think up a nice package involving George for Marko Jaric or someone along those lines...I dunno though, this trade just doesn't appeal that much to me, but if it does go through, I hope it works out for the best...PeACe

^ Man, like i said last year when everybody was dissing Mitch for the Shaq-trade and the Payton-trade, we need at least a pair of seasons to judge an NBA trade. I mean take the Payton-one as an example. It looked horrible for the Lakers. After a season it looks horrible for the Celtics, cause Mihm is a pretty good player, cause Atkins and Jumaine Jones are two good role players and cause Fox retired (and Payton is about to). This trade can be perfect for the Lakers, or stupid. It depends on how Bender will perform in purple-gold. He's a player with a great potential, even if he didnt show it yet. If he keeps performing like he should, then this can be a great trade for us. Plus that #17 draft pick can be interesting too. We will see. Oh, and i'm curious to see if we will select a player with the #17 draft pick or if we will trade the pick, or a package with the #10 and the #17 pick, or with players + draft picks..
