nuff said my ass... I already implied in the "duncan best pf ever?" thread that Malone is better. And he is. Why? A bigger factor, simple as that.

I guess that big factor wasn't big enough to get him a championship.

LOL!! Bigger factor? You have to know nothing about basketball to say that. Isnt the game about winning still? or is it now about how many points u can score in a losing effort? Duncan never had the luxury of having a John Stockton feeding him wide open layups and wide open 15 foot jumpers his whole career. Funny thing about some of u "fans" is that youd like Duncan better if he shot more, scored more, and lost more. Rather then work with the flow of the offense, and make sure his team gets the best shot possible, and wins. You guys are like little kids sometimes. You like the guys who force up stupid shots left and right in an effort to reach 40 points and entertain you, then hate on the guy who plays smart and wins. Look at the offense they run, its about slashing and ball movement. Even when Duncan has the ball in the post. He's smart enough to know, when he has the ball he is the focal point. The rest of the defense is focusing on him. Which means, his team is at an advantage. One on one, he can take his man. That doesnt mean EVERYtime he's one on one....he should try and score. It means him having the ball, is an opportunity to get others involved. Its a team game, and at some point...to win consistently, you need others to get hot. Thats what Duncan tries to do, get everyone making shots. Then, when others struggle...he's the solid force down low thats probably the most consistent player in the league....and he carries them for that stretch. A team is FAR more dangerous when 5 people are hitting shots...then when one is, and the rest watch. And in the midst of all that...he still has the MVP awards, the Finals MVP awards, the All Star appearences, the All Defensive team 7 strait years, and the Championships. If youre an overall basketball fan like u say...then you already know youre wrong.

I dont wanna hear nothing about his awards and championships no more.. The competition during Malone's time was a LOT stronger than it is now. Nash is MVP now, Stockton was never MVP. Just to get my point across. Duncan couldnt fuck with the Lakers either when Shaq ruled.
Apart from that, you do your best to make it as positive as possible that Duncan just doesnt stand out during a Game. He's "unselfish", "smart", "let's the teammates get hot"... yadda yadda yadda. Of course it would be more entertaining if his style was different, noone in the world can argue that. But, it's not like it's a plain advantage that he keeps it low keyed. For one part, I dont really see him steppin the fuck up when other players struggle - at least not often enough to call his hiding strategy. Next, from a psychologists point of view, it is a lot more damaging to the other team and a lot more effective when it comes to involving / silencing the crowd when you play with more visual attractivity. Also, I refuse to call someone who had finals like Duncan has them now the best pf that there ever was. His team is winning alot, and he aint the stats first win second type of player that is obviously accurate. But neither one of those things is true: His team would lose if he scored a little more and that the team is winning solely because of him. He aint got the weight of the world on his shoulders. It's not like he's the only capable basketballer on his team, never was. Was drafted into a great team with the 1st pick, a luxury only few superstars get. If the theory that he just wants to keep his teammates hot and shit and that he could step the hell up if he wanted was right, then I just wonder where the fuck he is when the other players blow and he HAS to be the go-to-guy and turn a game around. Of course he has had winning shots already and stuff, but it's not like he's the one who can do everything for the team when shit gets clutch. To be the best ever, you should be able do that, and NOT rely on a 35 or so year old BENCH player.
