Apparently the reason BBC reporters have been told not to use the word 'terrorist' is that the BBC operates a massive world service and it's concerned that that word will offend viewers in other countries/regions.

Why would people be offended by a word. Everything has got to be all politically correct nowadays it's stupid as fuck.
