I really hoped that everton would have won....hopefully they play this year as good as the last cause it would be a shame if this was everton's last opportunity for a long while to go to champions league....

I don't see how drawing 1-1 would be doing yourselves proud, thats nearly as bad as describing Celtic's Champions League performance last season as heroic when they only picked up four points in the group stage, which is what I've heard from some quarters.

I think Everton will score, but I just think Villarreal have a little too much quality on the counter attack, which combined with a lack of pace (Yobo excluded) in your defense is gonna mean that they're gonna score at least once on the counter attack. I think if Everton can get an early goal and and manage to nullify Riquelme then you might have a chance of nicking another before the end and scraping though.

My prediction however will be another 2-1 Villarreal win.

fuck you, clearly you know nothing about football if you look at facts but nothing else.

yes on paper they gained 4 points but sometimes the record books don't tell the whole story.

get your facts right before you start running your mouth on shit you don't even understand.

yeh unlucky bez they were robbed according to everything i've read.

do you drop to uefa cup?

Yeah, I obviously no nothing about football, thats how I predicted the correct score last night ::)

All I was saying was that Celtic, despite only collecting four points in the Champs League last season, for some reason saw that as a success, and they were hailed as putting it great battling performances and so on. The thing is, and it was the same with Everton last night, you can battle all you want in a european game, but if you don't have quality players in the right areas, then you're not going to get anywhere in the competition. The football Celtic played last season in the Champions League wasn't great football, if was almost all long balls, flicked on headers, etc. Yes, you can put a team under pressure using tactics like that, but if you have to do that constantly for 90 mins and get pretty much nowhere, and the other team can then just put one attack together and score, that shows the lack of quality in Celtic's side.

The same is true of Everton in a way. They have good players such as Arteta, Cahill & Davies, but you have to feel sorry for them when they want to play a through ball or into the feet of the strikers. Duncan Ferguson is pretty much useless with the ball at his feet, and has no pace at all, and Marcus Bent has pace, but hardly any cleverness to his running, and most of the time a poor first touch. Therefore in the end they resulted to just hitting the ball forward, which is a tactic which involves the opposition having to make a mistake in order for you to get a chance, and hope that it falls to one of your players with quality to finish it off. Even though Everton were very unlucky to have the goal disallowed, I don't think many would argue that over the two legs Villarreal deserved to go through.
