I try to.

I mean I assume he isn't talkin about the singles...of course he'd hear those. He probably just means the other songs that pop up on the net before it comes out.

naw, u cant do that shit no more.  Way too much business and politics in it now and days.  You buy an album, and its a great chance that its only like 2-3 tracks worth listening to.  Ive been burned too many times.  So now I burn before I buy.  They gets no dough from me unless the shit is quality: For example, terrorist threats, man vs machine, the way I am, the new testament, paid the cost to be the boss:  all i bought w/o really listenning to the albums, and wish I never did.  Now, albums like R&G get downloaded, and stay downloaded, so I can burn the 2 songs I like, and bestbuy can keep the rest of the bullshit.    Or in cases such as M Vs M, what was dowloaded gets erased, and bestbuy can keep all the bullshit along with the next album.  But if I downlload and its tight, then it gets copped like in the cases of the documentary or the new quik.  That way good music gets rewarded and I keep from being pimped from the industry

man thats nearly impossible for me to do...i get to tempted to listen to it early

I might do that for Detox though...actually go into the store and buy it and have only heard the single. But nowadays Power starts playing stuff from leaked albums 2 weeks before they come out so thats another thing that spoils new albums. There is nothing like that feeling of buying a new album and then blasting it in the car.

I prefer to wait although as of late I haven't been doing that as much because you'll never know when you'll be disappointed.  Off of Quik's latest I've only heard Fandango & Black Mercedes but I'm waiting til the album drops before I hear the rest.  When Detox drops other than the lead single I don't want to hear the rest until I have the album in my hand.  I used to buy albums without a listen more frequently and a lot of artists imo have lost that cop without checking it out first status.

before it gets releassed?

that way a brother still keep that ole school vi\be of poppin up at HMVs tuesday morning with a crisp 20 in my palms, and expectations in my head

*waits anxiously for that Quik to drop*

i havent heard anything, nothin from the album, nothin from the mixtape, not even fandango

damn youre lucky... i feel like a kid that ate his ice-cream too quick, and youre left with heaps coz youre eating it slow....

but yeah, you wont be let down by trauma ;) i cant see it possible... and youre lucky to hear fandango for the first time on the 13th, coz i like it more now that i have the rest of the album...

I try to do this but its hard. The only albums I have done that for this year is "Documentary"and  "R&G" (which I was very disapointed at, was hopin' for alot better) I only heard "Westside Story", "Higher" and "How We Do" on "The Documentary" just cuz they were all over the radio. And on "R&G", I only heard "Drop It Likes Its Hot". But other than that the temptation is usually too high and I give in.  ;D

I did that (for as far as possible) for The Documentary, Street's Disciple, The Massacre, Be and Late Registration this year. However, because of all the bootlegging and mixtapes the songs appear on, I still heard
5 of The Documentary (Westside Story, Hate it or love it, Higher, How we do & Where I'm from)
2 of Street's Disciple (Bridging the gap, Thief's theme)
3 of The Massacre (Candy shop, Hate it or love it remix & Disco inferno)
4 of Be (Be, The Corners, The Food, Chi-City)
2 of Late Registration (Diamonds from Sierra Leone & Diamonds... remix)

All in all, it seems kinda impossible to me these days to not hear the tracks of a highly anticipated album in advance. At least, I'm not even that hard trying to... You can't escape turning on the tv, seeing Diamonds getting video play.
