08/23 - Cynthia Watros will play a newcomer to the island who, in her former life, was a therapist. More layers to her character will be revealed as the season goes on. Watros joins other recent cast additions to "Lost," including Michelle Rodriguez, who joins the second season as Ana-Lucia Cortez, another passenger on doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815. Also, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was recently added as the mysterious character Emeka, who suddenly appears on the island. Source: Variety
08/22 - There are more new characters coming aboard. Two series regular are leaving the show this season that I know of. Source: Kristin on E!Online
08/22 - Soap-grad Cynthia Watros is joining the cast of Lost this season as Libby, a mysterious character who may or may not have been in the tail section of Oceanic Flight 815 when it crashed last fall. Source: TV Guide Online
08/18 - Damon Lindelof on new cast member Michelle Rodriguez: "We know she was sitting in the tail section of the plane, so we know that there was at least one other survivor of the crash who's been out there leading this sort of Tom Hanks-ian castaway existence by herself. [...] But I think people are really compelled to see what's been going on with her for the last 45 days. She's had her whole own second show going on, we just weren't watching it. So, when she joins the cast, she has two backstories: (1) everything that happened pre-crash, and (2) everything that happened between the crash and when we meet her. We're gonna tell that story in one awesome concept episode. I'm not gonna tell you when, but we haven't talked about it with anyone before you, so that'll be pretty kick-ass." 08/18 - Yoon-jin Kim noted that Sun and Jin would still not be reunited by 2.2. Emilie de Ravin said Claire and Charlie are not making out by 2.2, and she doesn't yet know if a romance will develop between the two. Naveen Andrews confirms that Shannon and Sayid characters are still a couple as of 2.2. Lindelof says what lies beneath The Hatch will be explored in 2.1 and 2.2, but "What's really down there" won't become entirely clear to the survivors or the viewers until 2.3. 08/12 - Before the season opener on Sept. 21, ABC will air an hour-long Lost Special. Source: ABC
08/12 - This season, Jack's mistrust of Locke will grow, as he continues to question his motives and obsession in uncovering the secrets of the mysterious hatch. The fates of Sawyer, Michael and Jin will be revealed after their raft was blown out of the water by "The Others" - who at the end of last season kidnapped Michael's son, Walt. Sun will become less dependent on husband Jin and more autonomous, as she wonders whether he is still alive. Kate's back-story life as a fugitive will continue to be explored. Charlie will become even closer with Claire and her baby, Aaron, but the stash of drugs he found in a statue could seduce him back to a dark life of addiction. The cursed numbers that turned Hurley's life upside down before the crash will continue to haunt him as he begins to uncover their meaning. Shannon will decide where Sayid fits in her life while she continues to grieve over the death of her brother, Boone, and develops a growing sense of unease about the raft passengers and their fate. 08/10 - From writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach: Danielle has been on the island 16 years, despite the fact that the translated French message is inconsistent on the "iterations". No nanobots, despite the tongue in cheek comments at Comic-Con. Rose is definitely coming back for S2. The "two plane" theory is WRONG - there is one plane, at least only one oceanic 815! Source: The Fuselage (Thanks E Buccieri for transcribing!)
08/10 - Damon Lindelof: "Right out of the gate in the season premiere, the numbers become a driving and fundamental plot point of the second season. We plan to answer this season via flashback: Who is the woman Jack married? (Look for this to be addressed early on, since Julie Bowen flew to Hawaii last week to shoot an episode). How did Locke become wheelchair-bound? What exactly did Kate do to become one of America's Most Wanted? What was Hurley's prelottery existence like?" Also, Lindelof says that the mystery surrounding the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 - which was originally going to be solved in a minimovie on the first-season DVD - will be resolved this season. "By the finale of Season 2," he says, "you will know why the plane crashed." "We're not stupid," exec producer Carlton Cuse says of the looming triangle. "There's clearly chemistry between [Michelle and Matthew Fox]. Their [airport encounter] was not accidental." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
