--- Quote from: Lincoln The Reform-A-Tory on October 02, 2005, 04:26:03 PM ---This asshole assumes way too much with respect to someone holding right wing conservative views. All you're doing is stereotyping. I am a conservative, I believe in limited government intervention, low taxes, free speech, a free market, and socially conservative values. Just because someone is conservative does not make them a supporter of Bush. Conservatism is a pretty broad term, so you assuming that all conservatives love dead Iraquis is like someone saying all blacks support gang violence. Both obviously not true and just broad stereotypes.

The fact is tho, you've come out bitching a number of times when people criticize Bush and the republican party, which really makes no sense since you're not even American.   No doubt, conservatism is a pretty broad term NOW, cuz modern republicans distorted the concept so much we have no clue what it really means anymore.  Now you can't say your liberal, conservative, progressive... you gotta come out and say specifically what you stand for if you want to make sense.  Conservative means small government? Then how come our government exploded under Bush?  Conservative means limited government?  Then why is the Bush II government repeatedly getting caught acting inappropriately, i.e. paying off reporters, fucking with Joe Wilson, going to court for the right to hide pictures from Abu Graib.   And how the fuck can you be libertarian (which i thought you were) and socially conservative at the same time?  You want the govt. to leave us the fuck alone, but you want them deciding what type of sex we engage in, whether or not we have access to porn, what we get to watch on TV, and listen to on the radio?

I just hate the stupid celebrities and students who don't give a fuck about politics, but hate Bush. Not because they should like him but simply because they get their opinions in there on a bandwagon.

Now your country is an anomaly, so I agree with the fact that the Bush Administration really isn't conservative for the reasons you stated.

And I might be inclined to fiscal libertarianism but I am socially conservative with issues like abortion, homosexual marriage and the like.

No doubt, I get just as pissed reading liberal blogs as I do reading the conservative ones lately.  The know-it-all bangwagoners on the left are just as obnoxious as Rush, Bill, Sean, and Ann are.  Ironically too, I don't support homo marriage, I can't stand the feminist movement, and I can go either way on abortion.  I think its good for society, but I have no problem with it being a states rights decision.

When a reasonable third party emerges then perhaps... But people go thru changes in life its almost impossible to expect a political party to align perfectly with your views. I don't expect a whole lot out of politicians, I just don't want to see our government ran as incompetently as it is by the Bush II administration.  Politics isn't structured to encourage competence to rise to the top.  We all fall for this fantasy that the rigors of our political system force us to elect a president who is undoubtedly the best of the best.  In reality, the rigors of our political system probably scare away the truly competent, and ends up being predisposed towards electing egotistical pricks

TraceOneInfinite:
Today, we have a condition where everyone is running around wanting their rights for themselves to be fullfilled.  But this is not the program for success in this life and the hereafter.  Everybody can fight but everybody can't win.  Every race and people is on here talking about some injustice that they believe has been done to them.  And I'm from a white wing conservative, suburban background, so I know that we I come from people feel that the needs and grievances of all races are consistently recieving attention and recourse, and they believe that white/right wing people are somehow being left out and not having their rights fullfilled.  (And often we expect more then what is really fair for us on a global scale, but that's another subject entirely)

But sometimes we have to give up things that are lawful and desireable for us if we want to succeed in this life and the hereafter.  That's why Allah teaches us in Noble Qu'ran how to learn self-restraint, and Allah makes giving worship.  One of the greatest virtue's of a Muslim, of a man in this life is when he can forego his own rights in preference to the rights of others.  The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was quoted as saying something to the effect of, "you have not believed until you want for your brother what you want for yourself."  But how do you want for your brother what you want for yourself?  This is a learned behaivor.  And so Allah perscribes for us fasting during the month of Ramaddaan.  During the month of Ramaddan, the Muslim gives up what is lawful and desireable for himself, in order to please his Creator.  And when someone comes to quarrel with the fasting Muslim he replies "I'm am fasting", because Allah is teaching us self-restraint.  You have to control your lower desires to always have your attention and needs met, and this is how you gain the pleasure of Allah in this life and the hereafter.  This is the true program for success, that goes beyond lobbying for one's own selfish interest, and you learn to become self-less.  All praise and thanks is due to Allah who has made giving of oneself an act of worship.
