Im startin college this year and i need to buy a laptop for class so i can watch DVDs/music/games....i was thinkin about gettin an apple caus my boy said its the hardest to hack into but i wanted to know what you would buy..pls consider price, quality, performance, etc.

if your tight on money, i wouldnt go the way of apple. however i prefer apples, but they are pricier. Plus if you want to play games, apple cant play MOST games that are availible.

I would try going to dell.com and seeing if they have any good deals (which they usually do)

Dell or Toshiba. If you want Games, make sure it has an ATI or NVidia video card, cuz the internal ones are crap, and all of you games will be choppy. I have a Toshiba that i bought about a year ago - 2.8ghz p4, 40GB HD, 512mb Ram, 32mb video card (ATI) for about $1000, and i'm sure you can get a similar configuration now for like 800 bucks. I would suggest apple only if you don't mind having to use certain programs (iTunes, etc...), and of course, the cheapest Mac laptops are 1000 dollars

if games is the main thing you wanna do, then get a pc laptop

if games aren't too important, go for an apple. you can also get a student discount on an apple, and can pickup an iBook for like $800USD i think they are now

ive got an iBook G4, only thing extra I had to do was add a bit more memory and it cost me $1300AUD (not sure what that is in USD)

watup once again....i haven't bought a laptop yet caus i had to save up some bills but now i got up to $1000 to spend
im basically just lookin for an ill laptop that i cud watch some DVDs, maybe play some games (counter-strike or others), good wireless internet connection, Office programs that i could use for schoolwork and shit (altho i cud jus DL the programs if not included),burnin CDs/DVDs (just in case i learn how to burn DVDs in the future) ...and a great battery life


im thinkin about coppin either an HP or a Dell from the earlier posts..has any1 recently copped a laptop or seen any good deals?
