Detroit's Pontiac Silverdome is scheduled to hold Snoop Dogg's Snooper Bowl and a Celebrity Football Game this coming January.


The two events are set to take place on the weekend prior to Super Bowl XL on February 6th. The Snooper Bowl will feature young standout football players from his Snoop Youth Football League competing against the Michigan All-Stars team.


According to executive director Eric Walker, members of the All-Stars team will be picked from third, fourth and fifth grade football teams from Michigan's Macomb and Wayne counties. Snoop will also take part in the event.


"Since the league is sponsored by Snoop Dogg, he's supposed to do some singing and a little halftime [show] for kids," Walker said in a statement. "He is going to bring the best of the Snooper Bowl kids to play the Michigan All-Stars."



The Snooper Bowl will be followed by the celebrity football game. That match will also be held at the Silverdome, former home of the NFL's Detroit Lions. The celebrity game will feature former NFL players and professional players visiting the area to watch the Super Bowl. Players will be announced later this year.


Last year, Snoop rallied California and Florida's best young football players to hold the Snooperbowl in Jacksonville, Florida. The event attracted 15,000 people and raised $50,000 for local charities.


According to Walker, similar numbers are expected for this year's Snooper Bowl and the Silverdome is poised to generate over $50,000 from the event. Tickets will cost $5. Though estimates haven't been revealed, Walker expects the game to generate up to $100,000.
