how would ya rate the first eastsidaz album

I would give this album a 3.5 - 4 mics at it's best. It's a dope album & it gets alot of rotation & I know BC gets some stick around here but I funkin' love "G'd Up" that is one funky & dare I say it classic westcoast track. I think this album was a breath or fresh air, it was a nice album full of gems but not quite classic....given time might become one though..

Yeah I love "G'd Up", definitely one of the best Battlecat-produced tracks ever... when comparing this to the mediocre tracks "I Luv It" & "Ass On Your Shoulders", you'll understand why Battlecat can never acheive the "legend" status which Dr. Dre & DJ Premier has... peace

dont front on battlecat he's off the hook. i agree he indeed has some tracks that are monotone and boring but most of his shit is tight! check out track 16 (ragz n lolos i think) from c-bo's new album. (feat Yukmouth).

and for Kokane. indeed he was on too many tracks in the dogghouse releases but damn sometimes he comes off really tight! i liked on everytrack he was on at this first eastsidaz cd. on last meal there were some cuts where he shouldve been left out.. same with ducez n trays.. i wish on his new album he starts rappin alot again!

Yeah homie, i totally agree with you here. Battlecat is tight as fuck! I was talking about the monotone funk tracks, not about the real tight ones. That's why i wrote i prefeer him to make less tracks but just the best ones, not the monotone ones.

The very problem of Dogghouse releases is Kokane. I dont like him at all. Back in the days he was cool, but i aint feeling him now. He's boring if he is in half of the tracks. Sometimes at the last seconds of the track, just to ruine it.

naww the problem his you dogg, u don't like this still of music so sure that your opignions about it will be negative , anyways it was a great great album , no doubt , but 3.5 , i doubt that  
oh and kokane wasn't there so much on the first eastsidaz so that ain't the main reason

Word..... "Now We Lay Em Down" was Hott... "Ghetto" had a great sound and feel, "Be Thankful" had a nice message, and "Life Goes On" is probably Snoop's most touching song, it's one of my favorite and most listened to albums.

Of all the posts by now, I agree most with this one.
There was so much hot joints on there, that Jome must probably give it a 4.75 of 5.

the first is a classic. But the second aint that bad either. Lot of peeps in here say it sucks and shit. The second album just has a different sound. You cant sleep on tracks like :

Another thing that makes this album so great is that it was the album which catapulted Butch into the minds of West Coast fans.  He'd been laying it down since '96 on odd tracks here and there but he was properly introed on this album
