High Times & Rolling Stone's 25 Greatest Rap LP's ...from a couple years back (brief but dope reviews):

01) Paid in Full (Eric B. & Rakim)
"The most influential rap album of all time? Perhaps. Rakim changed the game his "godly" lyricism. The best songs are, well, every single track on the album."

2) 3 Feet High And Rising (De La Soul)
"A giddy, technicolor triumph that guided Hip Hop into uncharted territory".

3) The Chronic (Dr. Dre)
"Amazing productions by Dre, with Nuthin' but A G Thang ranking as at least # 20 song of all time. Despite Deep Cover, this album is the first official apperance of the young Snoop Doggy Dogg."

04) All Eyez on Me (2Pac)
"What can I say? All Eyez are on 2Pac,. Production is great, and rapping, well, it's Pac, so need I say more. Best songs are California Love and Can't C Me."

05) Ready To Die (Notorious B.I.G.)
"This joint put Biggie on the map back in '94. Nobody has or will steal his rapping style, never. Best songs are Juicy, Gimme the Loot, and Big Poppa."

06) Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (Wu-Tang Clan)
"Raw beats and lyrics wonderfully delivered by 9 members of Wu Tang. The best song is C.R.E.A.M."

07) Midnight Marauders (A Tribe Called Quest)
"There is not ONE bad song on this top tier effort of ATCQ. Excellent beats, flow, and cohesiveness are all here. I just LOVE this album. The best songs are, well, every single one."

08) Me Against the World (2Pac)
"Another centerpiece of 2Pac's legacy which some people claim as his best. The emotion that he puts into this album is just... incredible. The Best song is the tear-shedding Dear Mama."

09) Illmaic (Nas)
"Nas at his realest and best. Beats are not as good as some people say, but lyrics are tight as fu* k. The best song is N.Y. State of Mind, which paints such a vivid picture of gangsta life in NY."

10) It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (Public Enemy)
"Public Enemy's realest album. It's so apart from the sh* tty raps of Chingy and Nelly. The best song is Rebel Without A Pause, a needed message to our society today."

11) The Low End Theory (A Tribe Called Quest)
" Scenario, the best track on the album, sounds so perfect. It's definitely one of the greatest songs ever. I bought this album solely for that song, and I came to LOVE every single other ones, too."

12) Chronic 2001 (Dr. Dre)
"Another mind-blowing masterpiece by Dre. Best songs are What's The Differrence and Still D.R.E."

13) Atliens (Outkast)
"The best and my favorite Outkast album ever. The atmosphere of listening to ATLiens is just... undescribable. So deep and real, maybe? The best songs are Jazzy Belle and 13th Floor/Growing Old."

14) The Art of War (Bone Thugs-N-Harmony )
"Bone is definitely one of the best rap group of all time. On this joint they sound more mature and organized, but maybe not as original. Best songs are Thug Luv, Look Into My Eyes, and Body Rott."

15) Straight Outta Compton (N.W.A.)
"They're Straight Outta Compton, what do you think? Dre, Cube, Ren, and Eazy built the west coast rap practially themselves. The best song? Straight Outta Compton!"

16) Doggystyle (Snoop Dogg)
"Just marvelously done. It's Snoop at his best, with butterly smooth flow and brilliant wordplay. Contains the best beats ever by Dr. Dre. Best songs are Gin & Juice, Tha Schiznit, and Who Am I."

17) AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (Ice Cube)
" Cube at his best, shouting out a message to America: "You wanna see free Africa, I'll stare at ya. 'Cause we ain't got it too good in America!" Best song is Endangered Species, featuring Chuck D."

18) Reasonable Doubt (Jay-Z)
"No matter what you think of Jay-Z, his debut WAS definitely a hip-hop classic. The delivery was awesome, as well as the hot beats. The best songs are D'Evils and Dead Presidents."

19) Black On Both Sides (Mos Def)
"Proof that "conscious" rappers need not lack charisma... or punchlines. Best songs are Hip Hop and Ms. Fat Booty".

20) Criminal Minded (Boogie Down Productions)
"Balances Jeep-worhy beats with Krs-One's booming voice and challenging worldview. See what I said for #16 regarding best songs".

21) Dr. Octagonecologyst (Dr. Octagon)
"Kool Kieth spews surrealistic lyrics over horrow-show loops. Cant choose a best track because it's soo wierdly great and differrent... even the skits".

22) Paul's Boutique (Beastie Boys)
"They totally reinvented themselves with this cult-classic! 'Nuff said."

23) Moment Of Truth (Gangstarr)
"The finest hour of DJ Premier, one of rap's most innovative and respected producers. Best songs are Make 'Em Pay and Royalty".

24) The Marshall Mathers LP (Eminem)
"Never has sociopathic rage and vitriol been so grimy and entertaining. The "newest of greats" as an album and an mc. Best tracks are Stan and The Way I Am".

25) Raising Hell (Run-Dmc)
"Striping Hip Hop music down to a no-nonsence equation that anybody could understand. And with this, middle America finally did".
