The Cancer (Shaq) got what he wanted....Pat Riley will be his Coach
eS El Duque:
Q: Did Shaq want Stan fired?
A: That's probably a bit strong. Let's just say Shaq hasn't been Stan's biggest fan.
His issues with Van Gundy's offense -- and a lack of late touches -- were well-chronicled after the Game 7 loss to Detroit. I recently heard a more subtle story about Shaq-Stan relations from a teammate, who described Shaq wiggling three fingers near his ear while Van Gundy was lecturing his players about disrespecting his knowledge.
That was Shaq's way of saying, apparently, that he had won three rings and Van Gundy had won none.
A self-proclaimed living legend, Shaq wants to be coached by legends as well. That's why Van Gundy was always going to struggle for Shaq's full support, with a four-ringed coach working in the same organization as team prez.
That's not to say Shaq went to Riley and asked him to remove Van Gundy. It's more accurate to say he never urged Riley to keep Stan in place, which surely would have kept Van Gundy in charge.
Q: Will Riley have unanimous support from Shaq's teammates?
A: In the short term, certainly. Alonzo Mourning is a bigger Riley fan than Shaq, and Riles has the stature to get all the newcomers to play harder and swallow their discontent about roles and minutes.
However ...
You have to wonder if Riley's famously grueling practices are really what Shaq, Zo and Wade need. These guys take a tremendous pounding already. All three regularly play hurt. The last four Heat teams Riley took to the playoffs were all upset by lower seeds -- supporting the theory that he works his teams too hard during the regular season -- but you can safely assume that Riley has some long sessions planned to make up for all the time this team has already lost in the quest for cohesiveness. Not such promising news, I submit.
I also wonder, quite honestly, if Riley is a better coach than Van Gundy at this stage. I'm sure the players believe Riley is better, which is hugely significant, but look at the coaches' respective playoff records in Miami.
Not only did Riley's Heat teams suffer the upsets referenced above, but overall Riley closed his first stint as Heat coach with four first-round eliminations in a six-season span.
Both of Van Gundy's teams, meanwhile, could be labeled overachievers. The first, led by Wade and Lamar Odom, overcame an 0-7 start to reach the second round of the playoffs. The second obviously had Shaq and Wade -- a better combo that Riley was ever blessed with in Miami, true -- but neither was close to full strength in the postseason.

How is he goin to talk about Kobe running him out of town when he did the same to Van Gundy, Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones (twice). Then his old fat ass has the audacity to ask for all this money when he is over weight and hurt all the time. Then when the lakers don't give to him and perfer to give it to a younger Kobe Bryant he gets butt hurt and demands a trade. Then once he is traded he decides to get in shape and proceeds to talk all this shit about the Laker, Kobe, and L.A. If that is not a cancer to a team and a very childish hypocritical person I don't know what is.
--- End quote ---
i just find it funny how a person can be the "greatest bigman ever", the "most dominate player in the NBA" (not my quotes, Laker fans quotes when he was a Laker), and damn near a fuckin super hero to his teams fans. then, when the team doesnt take care of him and he leaves....he's a cancer. How about instead, you appreciate what he did for that team. Without him, they obviously wouldnt have one one championship during that 3-peat. If you dont agree with that, you have zero basketball knowledge and dont require any further responses.

I never said he wasnt a good player buddy so read what i wrote before you question my basketball knowledge. Second when he was with the lakers he was a good player and he still is but i don't appreciate all the shit talkin he did. And I dont like the fact that he's talkin shit about kobe runnin coaches and player out of town when he's been doin that his whole career.
Stone Cold is Bout It, Bout It:
I bet you when ever P.Riley saw that roster he used to always say too himself "This is my last chance too win a championship,I could do this,Fuck SVG" Pat Rirey's been wanting too coach this team.He even said he's going too be more involved in this team after the heat lost too the pistons.
After the heat lost too the pistons a miami media member told shaq "what happend, why did you lose?" and shaq said "i don't know ask SVG,i didn't get the ball enough" (Shaq has a history of blaming his teammates when the Lakers use too lose.)
He later said he wasn't happy whith the offence in game 7..A month Later said "I wouldn't mind having P.Riley as my coach".
Plus Shaq is mad that kobe has a high profile coach (And his dream job,the franchise player of the great Los Angeles Lakers ;D)
So now shaq has his big time coach.
Shaq milked that injurey so the heat could lose games and eventually SVG would get fired and P.Riley could step in as the coach.
P.Riley set up SVG too fail by bringing in all those egos (remember G.P. questioned SVG's Coaching style earlier in the season) so now the only guy that could put those guys in check is P.Riley ::) what a fucking fag.
And we all know shaq is a lazy muthatfucka..how is he going too like those hardcore 4 hour practices?
And lol @ the fucking media (especially in L.A.) protecting these guys, where's the fucking criticism at? especially with shaq? i guess they dont want too break the gentleman's agreement, since all those faggot media people are known too go too shaq's famus house partys,so they don't shit about him,and if they write good things about shaq shaq would tell'em shit that goes on behind the seens, gossip basically.Remember phil Jackson saying that he's going too try hard not too let shit get out of the locker room like before,he was talking about shaq.
so basically Benedict Riley and Judas O'Neal fucked SVG.
The End ;D
