it can certainly be called a "gangsta" movie, and gangsta flicks are usually associated with hip-hop. 

True, "gangsta" is usually associated with hip hop, but wrongfully so. Street shit is not automatically hip hop. You could make a movie about smokin crack and that wouldnt necesarrily be a hip hop movie, even though its goin on in the streets and a lot of rappers talk about crack. Gangsta doesnt mean hip hop and hip hop doesnt mean gangsta.
