The lengthy piece of legislation would let police arrest people in public places who will not give their names, address and birth dates, even if they are not doing anything wrong.

This makes no sense, if you don't give a Police Officer your name you ARE doing something wrong by not doing so. I agree, they should be arrested for that.
If you are doing (or have done) nothing wrong you should have no problem providing that information to the Police.

If you are doing nothing wrong, then the police shouldn't have a problem with you. People have rights and freedoms, and the government is taking them away.
Are you saying random cops should also be allowed to strip search you for no reason... I mean after all, if you have nothing on you, then you shouldn't have a problem with it, right?

You could still be at a crime scene, be doing nothing wrong and the Police would like information from you like your name and address.
Having a strip search conducted is much more intrusive than having someone ask your name.

There's a difference between being at a crime scene, and the cops asking everyone there for info... and some random cop coming up to you just because he feels like it... this is basically a way for them to take racial profiling to another level...
Having a strip search conducted is more intrusive.. yes.. but a right taken away is a right taken away.
