So Is The "Yonkers Flow" A Blackwallstreet thing?

The Game claims he has a "Yonkers" flow. Kre8tor sounds just like The Game. And then I heard this.

"Suge here this, gon' wanna sign me to the payroll/But, I'ma say no, cuz I'm the next from Compton with a Yonkers flow"-Billboard.

He's from Blackwallstreet, too. This is incredibly wack. If you're West Coast, and rep West Coast, sound West Coast. How the fuck are you gonna come up from the West sounding just like you're Queens or Harlem?

U shoudnt trip SGV. I'm pretty sure they are referring to Jadakiss, who is from Yonkers. It's a fact that 'kiss has an incredible flow. And he is famous for his flow. They are just sayin they got an incredible flow too. I don#t think flows depend on the area u grew up. This is bullshit.

I don't understand the point of all this hating. There ar not many rappers out there reppin COMPTON CALI & THE WSTCOAST more than Game. His lyrics are straight COMPTON gangsta shit, what else do u want?

I dunno, I think his lyrics are more YONKERS gangsta shit but he just so happens to be from Compton...not really hating cuz its cool to see anybody doing it bigg from the West right about now, but at the same time SGV I feel ya too we have our own West Coast style so its kind of a slap in the face, in a way, for someone from the West to rap with the basic textbook East Coast style.

Oh yeah I totally agree with you, Game's got skills but his style is a lot like the textbook East Coast style - textbook being the key word in this sentence.  If I didnt know better based on his style I'd swear he was the newest artist coming out on Ruff Ryders or G-Unit...oh wait.....

Bein from L.A., I am not really offended but I do think it's suspect that they do rap with a yonkers flow. For one, it has NOTHING to do with Jadakiss. It means what they say, a yonkers flow, basically a NY flow because I can't tell yonkers from brooklyn to harlem flow.

But it's like this...I know not everyone from the west has to sound the same, but for one, I don't just like the west coast because that's where I am from. You probably don't agree, but I'd rather hear somebody from Chicago or milwaukee that had a dope flow, and I think the west coast has the dopest flow..than hear somebody from the west with a ny flow that ain't at all original and sounds like he's tryin to flow like hes from somewhere else.

I am from L.A. so I know that the only way to rap and with a new york accent is to practice that shit, or to grow up around a NY family, because it's no way you can get that accent bein in L.A. where our "accent" is completely different...and he bangs! Most bangers, especially bloods in compton, carry their own accent, and it's just natural, not somethin that you can try to have or imitate. But for him to come out soundin straight from ny isn't really an insult to us, but just very suspect and makes us ask "why?" I like west coast rappers mainly because of their flow, because their lyrics usually ain't about much as far as gangsta rappers. But yeah, he is talkin east coast shit too, just addin shit about gangbangin and sayin L.A. where a NY rapper would be sayin NY.

So it's cool to come with the typical east coast flow/style? In order to blow up on the west coast, you have to sound like you're from the east, right? Does that seem fair to you?

Even then that's suspect. My Pops was born and raised in NY until he was in his 30s then he came out here. His accent is strong. My Aunt, my uncle, my Grandparents, the same. They have/had heavy NY accents. I've never once picked up any traits of their accent. I mean, hey, if thats how you sound, so be it. But, it's suspect when 3 members of the same group have the same accent, being from L.A.

Thas another bad thing...if The Game does blow up, a lot of up coming west coast rappers are gonna be tryin to rap NY. I think the best thing about L.A. rappers is their flow/delivery, and if they end up tryin to rap NY, thas gonna take away some of what we do best in my opinion.
