beats cool
-
lyrically good as always but the beat kinda sucks.
-
Well peeps, buckle up. This is as close to Hip Hop Weekly, Pt. II as it's gonna get. I ain't mad at it though. At least the dude is dropping actual songs instead of weekly freestyles. Hope it's dope when it's all said and done?
-
Crooked givin songs to his fans like its Christmas everyday.... :)

Like a couple of people said earlier, the beat is wack.
I don't understand why people don't like it. It's pretty dope in my opinion.
-
Word is that the entire project is free because Crook working on brand new material to release later.
from crookeds working habbits (and from inside info) we all know dude has like million songs recorded on treacherous, i mean dude is workaholic, they have material from 04 till today, he is in the studio almost everyday...,so its easy to do the numbers :)
-
Cool. We're finally going to get this release. Song's tight. Looking forward to the rest, in the coming weeks.
-
::)
-
word the beat on here is terrible, proper cheap sounding. crook deserves better production - can't wait to hear him on some khalil tracks.
-
::)
That Yukmouth cover is cool, is that for his new album??

Yes, it is. In case you haven't heard the single yet: http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=211983.0

Track is good. Crooked's flow is enormous. But the beat is all over the place, and sounds tiny like it was made on a PC.
No songs on BOSS will be as classic as his Death Row era, because his producers nowadays are amature compared to Big Hutch & Daz.
-
The beat is tight what u guys smoking on?
-
wack beat..he need to get on some gangsta beats!
-
The beat is tight what u guys smoking on?
Word, I think it's fire.
BTW... Who knows what else he's got up his sleeve.
-
Crooked as usual murders it. Beat isnt anything crazy but the song as a whole is legit.
-
the beat is garbage....crooked needs to hook back up with irv gotti
-
The beat is tight what u guys smoking on?
Word, I think it's fire.
BTW... Who knows what else he's got up his sleeve.
each fan has a different ear for a beat, so its understandable that some people dont like some futuristic sounding beats like this one...cant blame them
tho for me...its bangin :o

Im the opposite, the more i hear it the more i dont like that :-\

I've only spun the track one time and my first impression of the beat was "eh" but lyrically he did his thing.
Komplex is hit-or-miss for me.

Like some1 said before Crooked over Khalil production would sick!!!!!!!
Thats comin....But yea when i visualize what Crooked should sound like on a beat, or what kind of beat, it would be like Esco Lets Go by Nas Prod by Khalil. Somethin grimey like that.
-
Like some1 said before Crooked over Khalil production would sick!!!!!!!
I agree. Khalil on some other shit as of late.
-
I love Crooked but I hope he gets more diverse on his album. Concept records and experimental tracks. Cool track but this is considered 1 stop music to me. I'll listen to it once now and forget about it later.... tbh Keep it movin Crook, keep those sucka mc's scary

-
honestly, it wasnt all that & a stack of pancakes... :P

B.O.S.S. IS COMIN

i am lettin all of the rest of this shit leak, cuz if i wait for every song to leak, by the time i put it all together most of the songs will sound old to me & that would definatly affect my opinon on the album lol.
but Crooked better come harder than this...seriously.
-
Damn this shit is aight I guess.....I was expectin more from Crook...I'll give it a few more spins before I hit the delete.
-
thats waz up
i feel for crooked
im mad as fuck that he hasnt dropped a album in over a decade and i think he had a better chance of droppin a album or albums years back, but who knows what that would have turned out like (in the end anyway)
but his hustle shows hes a hardworker, and IMO some dont see that
and thats the past, but for the past couple of years if he would have done it, it could have been MUCH WORSE and im glad he didnt do a video for a dream big typa song or some shit
it is what it is
haha crooked will not lose
B.O.S.S. IS COMIN

ON STEADY REPEAT 8)
-
i still dont understand this guy
hes gun make no money and is putting 1 song out a week????
knowing him the 2nd song wont get released nxt week
why cant he just giv us a regular album
-
my guess is hes tryna to the "fans" wantin more but locked down on his name/muzik
so if he keeps the fans waitin and they diehard fans,
new crooked muzik comin down the line to complete the BOSS album, they will want it and then soon after one of his homies drops from the slaughterhouse group
maybe some type promotional deal in connection wit the other members droppin and him droppin his own album
i mean if he jus drops the album all at once, cats will want more muzik from him.
so he spreads it like and keeps the fans wantin
i feel what you sayin tho
i still dont understand this guy
hes gun make no money and is putting 1 song out a week????
knowing him the 2nd song wont get released nxt week
why cant he just giv us a regular album
-
Man i was never really a fan of his music...but this is crazy i mean he had great songs before but now i think this album could be something speciel !!!

Lyrics :
(Chorus)
I'm still a MC, and you a rapper homes
I still get paid, Im money chaperone
I still got goons, they keep blammers on
Before I sell out, I'll leave this rap alone
(Verse 1)
So tell your girlfriend to kiss me through her camera phone,
I still get cheque's from iTunes and Amazon,
All you rappers done shifted to the hammer zone,
Fuck you and every video you dancing on,
Say my acurate spittery's too lyrical ,
Immaculate delivery, lyrics a true miracle,
The new westament book I'm too spiritual,
Long Beach is Nazareth homie the dude's biblical,
The son of God flow since Gods my father,
Jesus MC, walkin on top of aqua,
The son of Jah till Rasta's put God and father together,
Get Godfather now I'm a Mobsta.
(Chorus x 2)
I'm still an MC, Fuck dumbing down
I still get paid, pockets weigh a 100 pounds
I still got goons, my team run the town
Before I sell out, I'll stay underground
(Bridge?)
I'm still an MC, you still a DJ
I still get paid, from Long Beach to BK
I still got goons, better do what we say
Before I sell out, I'll let the heat spray
(Verse 2)
The coupe's ruthless, I'm driving the Eazy E way,
Getting brains on the 105 freeway,
Passing the Nickerson Gardens and the PJ's,
Switch to the 710, now it's Long Beach AYYYY!
Eastside or nothing, what you niggas mean,
17 shots, I call the bullets flying guillotine, stretch you like a limousine,
Squash you just like a centimeter centipede when the hennessy enters me,
You see you dudes don't interest me, I see you all the time throughout the industry,
You tellin' everybody that you are in the streets, don't quit your day job then 'cause you ain't killing beats
(Chorusx2)
I'm still an MC, Fuck dumbing down
I still get paid, pockets weigh a 100 pounds
I still got goons, my team run the town
Before I sell out, I'll stay underground
(Bridge?)
I'm still an MC, you just a gimmick, fool
I still get get paid, I chill in Liverpool
I still got goons, 'cause real niggas rule
Before I sell out, I'm getting rid of you..
(Verse 3)
..For all the artistic song's that you didn't do,
They say a spitter can't get paid, that isn't true,
I think my ice is all white with a hint of blue,
I heard you got your chick a whip, I could get her two,
Now I'm getting Karen Stephans in ya girl car,
I should snatch your chain, rock it on worldstar,
I should let my goons slap you on TMZ,
I should fuck your whole day up like the DMV.(D in V)
Crooked's a classic like every song Biggie made,
Something like Jigga when him and Eminem was Renegades,
You found a hot nitch, you making pop hits, by next year bye bye, you rappers Gaaarrbage (Bye niggas! haha)
(Chorus x2)
I'm still an MC, Fuck dumbing down
I still get paid, pockets weigh 100 pounds (still get paid!)
I still got goons, my team run the town (we got goons!)
Before I sell out, I'll stay underground (Eastside!)
(Talking)
Chea (laughs) You suckers do what you got to, us real ones, we 'gon do what we want to
Chea (laughs) Fuck Dumbing Down! Fuck Dumbing Down!
Oh yeah, C.O.B!!
D.O.C

lol...Fuck it. I'm gonna go ahead and just call this his first "album." If we wait for an album to come out in stores where they charge money for it, Crooked might be drawing social security by then.

Me too. I enjoy his freestyles but that's about it. I don't think Crook is inherently a song writer.
-
Wait, he said "kiss me through her camera phone". Soulja boy? Does that mean this is a newly recorded track and not a track from the actuall BOSS album?
-

Other than the 2 songs I crossed out, tall those songs were failed attempts at singles. And the funny part is "Str8 Bosses" would've been the best choice.

Well, I've touched on this subject on some other forums, but this track was obviously recorded more recently than his other material. However, it IS a B.O.S.S. track. Dont' forget B.O.S.S. has been revised so many times that we are not getting the original product that he started years back.

Str8 Bosses really is one of my favorite Crook tracks ever... However, I think Boom Boom Clap would have been huge, I've never played that for someone and they said "Wack". It came down to ZERO promotion. The label just didn't do their job.
Str8 Bosses would have put Crook on the map though.

I think that it's quite possible that B.O.S.S. has been so overhyped that there's no way possible it will meet everyone's expectations.

this shit bangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wonder how many tracks hes recorded for BOSS!
-
Word is that the entire project is free because Crook working on brand new material to release later.
That was kinda obvious. Dude has been waitin on the release date for like 3 years, he was bound to start feeling like the material is too dated. Only artist that doesn't get that instinct is Tha Realest - he's been planning on releasing those same tracks for almost 10 years now lol.

Once people figure out that their fav artist's unreleased/Anticipated album can't cure Cancer... they will be better for it.
It won't walk on water, It's just music.
Detox ain't gonna fix the deficit, B.O.S.S. ain't gonna turn water to wine...ect
I just want to bump it.

I know for a fact I've seen a few of those same songs on his rumored "final tracklist" for about 6 years. Be mad all you want but theres no excuse for an artist releasing songs that old on a NEW album unless its a "Lost Tapes" type of project.
-
Well, the only really 'old' song on Witness Tha Realest is Grown Ass Man with C-Bo. The other tracks that appeared on various tracklists in the past has been re-recorded, a new guest/beats has been added and so

IMMA STAY ON TOPIC AFTER I SAID THIS.
RITE IF YOU WHERE A UNDERGROUND RAPPER LIKE THA REALEST ,YOU WOULD PUT SONGS ON YOUR DEBUT ALBUM NO MATTER HOW OLD THE SONGS ARE IF THEY HAD FEATURES LIKE FAT JOE, C-BO, WC ETC ETC. IF WOULD BE SILLY NOT TO IMO
4 OTTA THE 17 ON THE CD ARE THE ONLY ONES I KNOW THAT A PRETT OLD AND THEY GOT SICK FEATURES ON LIKE FAT JOE,LIKE CROOKED I,LIKE EDI FROM THE OUTLAWZ, LIKE WC AND YUKMOUTH
TBH CAN YOU HONESTLY SAY YOU BLAME THA REALEST FOR PUTTING THESE SONGS ON HIS DEBUT ALBUM?
THE FANS HAVE BEEN WANTING THEM SO HE IS GIVING THE FANS WAT THEY WANT AT THE END OF THE DAY
ANYWAY IM DONE BACK TO CROOKED I LOL................
-
Nothing special bercause of the beat. Crook definately needs better production, i have only listend to the song once though.
-
Ain't no mutherfucka ever walk on water, ain't no mutherfucka ever going to walk on water. Jesus can snuff one and so can Crooked. Track was wack due to the beat. It's jumping around for no particular reason. Ain't shit hype about it. I dig what Crooked's got to say but I still think he needs help on creating quality SONGS. Boy can rap but his song structure comes off as weak. They should have a different beat and restructure the chorus so it supports Crooked. The chrous should be on some screwed shit, "I'm still a MC." Plus, he really needs to switch up the vocals. It's all sounding the same and losing its affect. That's why I dug W so much, his vocals was nuts. If he's just freestyling I dig the voice but for a song he needs to switch it up.

Aye wich album are u talking about? This is not his debut album.
BOSS
Aye, its the "downloadable version of BOSS - track by track". I wouldnt call that his long anticipated debut album.
whatever you want to call it, the download album is still the beginning of something serious ;D
Aye as long as its all high class material I am happy! I have to point that this bloke Crooked I is generous when it comes to giving songs to fans.
Crook has put out more dope free music than some emcees drop their entire career, can't hate that!
oh yeah that's a good thing ;)
great thing!
-
hes prob gonna leak the entire album. its gon b fire either way
-
Crooked says that he doesnt want labels to make all the money of it,but whats the problem to sell cds on ur own website and make all the money ?u dont need any shit to sell ur cds for yourself ???????

Surprised people aren't feeling the beat, this joint goes hard.
-
No songs on BOSS will be as classic as his Death Row era, because his producers nowadays are amature compared to Big Hutch & Daz.
Someone should remix some of Crookeds newer rhymes with older Death Row beats just for the comparison, anyone?
OR...someone could just give us the Death Row songs.

I like the beat...it didn't reinvent the wheel or split the atom, but the beat is a solid beat imo. And to your earlier point, I definately agree that the anticipation for B.O.S.S. has built up for so long now that it could never live up to the hype. Unfortunately, he's probably changed his minds on a tracklist so many times, it's hard to say what the ultimate version of B.O.S.S. could have been. Maybe the tracklist from a couple years ago would've been the best one, maybe not. Personally, I wouldn't mind if this project had older tracks on it, if they were ones that hadn't previously leaked. I think, he'll probably shelve any songs like that in favor of putting out more recently recorded material.

i'm having a hard time to believe that, seriously.
no disrespect ;)

Nice headache synths. This song is off to garbage can.
-
Dope track, I'm feelin' it.
The beat ain't all that but it bangs in a good system, plus crooked's delivery & wordplay heals the wounds.

Whatever older material he has lying around that doesn't make the BOSS album should be compiled into a Lost Tapes album. At the very least throw them on a mixtape or another EP.

I don't think it's too generic, there's a lot of nice change ups in it and little details that you have to listen for... I don't know it's something you can knock in the ride, but don't have to worry about lowering cause the lyrics are sick too.

I think that's a great idea, if he ever got around to doing it. That's kind of how he described the Death Row albums when he was talking about putting them out himself, after B.O.S.S. was released. Sometimes I think dude just stretches himself too thin. He's got so much shit going on at once, it just seems like there's too many distractions. It'd be awesome if he actually did that though. Because you know he probably has a ton of tracks he's completed for the B.O.S.S. recording sessions over the years.

i see, but to me it seems that Crooked keeps trying so hard to make a hit you know ( even though this is a "leak").
hence he chooses such beats to rap over; maybe not all the time, but when looking at his previous (street) singles i see a pattern... ;)

I agree. I've only spun this new track one time and immediately the beat was subpar to me. Lyrically he came off nice without it feeling forced, but the beat doesn't move me.
Dream Big felt forced. It was mediocre at best.
Cali Boyz was cool, but not really single material in my opinion.
Boom Boom Clap had potential if they would've pushed it.
Str8 Bosses also had potential but they gave that up for a compilation album instead, which in my opinion wasn't a smart move.
N.W.A. was cool too, but again, not really single material.
Boom Boom Clap = Str8 Bosses > N.W.A. > Cali Boyz > I'm Still A MC > Dream Big

Believe it or not I played this back when it first dropped and Storch was on top of his game and dudes went crazy! Everyone wanted it after I bumped it.

boom boom clap (dope street song and dope club song)
cali boyz (replay value and cool song)
buck town (dope song and one of crooks best)
nwa (crooks top 5 and str8 bangin)
str8 bosses (crooks top 5 and this is crazy)
all them traxx have replay value and are some of his best
i mean he shot a video for boom boom clap, that was a let down on his part IMO

I like the track. I was just questioning whether it was 1st single material or not? In comparison to Boom Boom Clap & Str8 Bosses it would've been better as a follow-up or a 3rd single, but not the 1st single. That's just my opinion.
-
Oh yeah no doubt, it was not first single quality.

Crook actually said "death row can put it out and make all the money, i just awnt the music to get out there"
2005, wake up show.

yeah, when a part of a song annoys me, i can't focus on the rest, so i immediately turn it off.
i mean, in stead of putting out so called "single" material, why not take an 180 degree turn and see what the responses are?
his future albums won't go diamond, so he might as well try to make the best of it.

Agreed.
Especially now that Crooked experienced the incident a few weeks ago, it's almost like he's come to the realization that life is short and the time is now. He's obviously fed up with negotiating with labels which is why he admittedly hasn't signed one yet.
In response to the label frustration coupled with the incident we get the type of record that I've been wanting Crooked to do since he left Death Row. Better yet King Tech of the Wake Up Show who was instrumental in getting Crooked to a larger audience over 10 yrs. ago when he battled Chino XL, seems to "get it" and understands what type of records Crooked sounds good over. Enter "If You Ever Hear Me" which leaked through MTV on Thursday.
While it's not geared towards mainstream listeners, it's one of those records that true Crooked fans as well as fans of lyricism can appreciate. The beat is simple, yet has a hard drum throughout the track, while allowing Crooked to showcase the rawness that brought him into the Death Row fold back in the day.
The point? Crooked should just do him and quit trying to appeal to the larger mainstream audience. If anything, he should do the kind of records that he knows he's capable of doing without sacrificing or dumbing down his style. I'm excited about those 7 records that King Tech & Crooked did together a couple of weekends ago. If the other 6 records are on the same vibe as "If You Ever Hear Me" then this is the direction Crooked should be taking with his music. I'll also credit King Tech for bringing Crooked to this realization.
On a side note, SlaughterHouse is also a positive movement in Crooked's artistic development because the other 3 guys in the group are constantly challenging him to stay sharp with the pen. While at the same time, Crooked can hopefully learn a few things about their approach to MC'ing. So they're a positive influence on him, in my opinion since they actually have experience with releasing records, and good ones at that.
