NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that The Raiders will not pick up the option on Aaron Brooks contract making him a free agent.
I think this pretty much means that the Raiders will draft Russell pretty much for sure. Yeah looks like that offense is gonna be real explosive, haha. The only chance the Raiders have is if Russell is very good his first year or they need to get a veteran qb because Andrew Walter will leave them with no wins, shit he might not even still be there. The Raiders just made there QB situation more compliacted. Brooks could have been a decent starter in Kiffins offense if Moss and Porter actually give 100 percent, Decent, not good.

good decision. i personally think this guy is horrible. with aaron brooks, this team has a chance of MAYBE what? 5-6 wins? why take another year in the hole 4? start over NOW, with the jamonster.

I don't care who is the quarterback, let's get that Raider O-Line back into good shape and hope Lamont Jordan will be 100% or go with Justin Fargas at running back. You can't pass every down if you got a pass rush on you by the time you snap the ball.

I never was a big Lamont Jordan fan. He did have a 1000 yard rushing season. He fit the type of running back Norv Turner wanted. I like Fargas alot though.

fargas is a great change of pace back. he also bulked up last season and got ride of his fumbling problems.

A Matt Millen is more like it. I heard some people are saying Oakland should get Calvin Johnson. Some were saying that and pick up Troy Smith later in the draft. I am not feeling that move at all.

I think Troy Smith is a good college quarterback. I don't know if that would translate to NFL success. And he definitely does not fit Oakland's offense IMO.

how hard is it REALLY to gain 1,000 yds rushing if ur healthy and start in the NFL? Its like 60 yds per game. The problem with Jordan is that he doesnt get in the end zone enough.

Yeah whats wrong with 5-6 wins? What if JaMarcus isnt ready? I am all for rebulding but you can still be semi productive while you rebuild, start Brooks and WHENEVER Russell is ready start him. So do you just want to throw him in the fire? Even the Niners gave Smith 6 or 7 games to watch before he started i think the Raiders should do the same. Russell does not rtead covergaes well enuff yet to start in the NFL. Athelticism can only take you so far he has to develop. Andrew Walter will COST the Raiders games. Brooks is def better.

I think he will be too. If our QB situation was better I could see it and then trade Moss or the WCW heavyweight champion Jerry Porter.

If they happen to let the rookie QB (Russel, or Quinn) sit the year, it would be better to let the younger QB (Walter) get the playing time instead of an old, more expensive Brooks.

I wouldnt want Walter playing, hes terrible and hes not a guy you want a young QB to learn from. But Brooks will save space by being cut, so its kind of a no brainer.

I hope that is how it plays out. With 2 receivers like that and add Ronald Curry and a good tight end in Anderson, the weapons are there for Russell to throw to.

Vince Young was Very good his whole sr and jr year. JaMarcus came on the last few weeks of this past season. If he doesnt play ND in the bowl game he doesnt go off like he did and he isnt being talked about as the #1 pick. Thats the Truth..

I just dont think Russell is gonna be ready..And what happens if Russell is ready and then he struggles? You think Moss and Porter arent gonna get frustrated? Get MOSS OUTTA THERE. Curry is the Real #1.

What are you talking about Curry hardly played last year? He played all 16 games last year and had at least 2 catches each week. He led the team in Receptions with over 60 and had over 700 yds and a td. not to mention the last 4 weeks he had like 35 catches for over 400 yds so he came on VERY STRONG at the end of the year. Are you a Raiders Fan? Curry is gonna be good next year. And of course Moss takes plays off, but even when they throw him the ball he drops a ton of passes isnt reliable over the middle, and is only really great for the deep ball, hes even lost a step so he aint beating people as easy going deep as well. Hes just getting older and isnt what he was. Moss isnt even a top 15 WR in the NFL anymore. And Curry might be better at this point.. i said that right when all this talk started. People got a false sense of what he was. ND's defense was terrible. Chad Henne was just as good against ND as Jamarcus was. But JaMarcus was lucky enuff to get ND's defense in a bcs game. If LSU would have played anyone else. JaMarcus would have looked like he looked all year. AVERAGE.

Yeah I want Oakland to get rid of him while they can still get some value out of him. I think that experiment just did not work. Get some lineman for him or something. That offense needs some explosiveness.
