Title: The Cavs vs. The Celtics - Round 2 Thread....
Post by: Styles1 on May 04, 2008, 03:14:55 PM
Was the 1st round a fluke accident for The Celts? Will they stop Lebron or will James torch em'?

cmon guys. Cavs are a much better team than the Hawks and look what they almost pulled against the Celts.

I see the Celts being dragged to another Game 7.

I bet David Stern hates this match up.  He needs the Celts to go to the finals against LA, but he needs LeBron in the finals as well.

he doesn't "need" either.  He loves this.

Boston-Detroit or Cleveland-Detroit are both very marketable

this will be a good matchup.. they played 4 times in the regular season and got 2 wins each.. looking at the scores they were also fairly close games each time. looking forward to this

Why are you arguing East finals matchups?  I'm talking about the NBA Finals.

You're smoking massive crack rocks if you don't think Stern wouldn't kill to have LA vs BOSTON.  It's all about the money and that will EASILY be the most watched series out of all possible matchups.

LA - Boston might bring in some decent ratings

but I think Utah-Detroit is what Stern reallllly wants.

The teams that make it this year deserve it
but as far as ratings go..

No doubt the Pure NBA fan want's that L.A. vs. Boston
The New fan want's to see LeBron take it to Kobe
Even the NBA's new darling CPIII & N.O. would be a great story for Stern..
What Stern/ABC don't want is a rematch of last season's sport's equivalent of the "Caveman show".
Spurs vs. Pistons. (Again from a ratings standpoint, not gamewise)

As far a style & gameplay, Detroit vs. anyone but the Lakers & N.O. will be a network ratings desaster.
(Not saying the games won't be good, but I'm talking ratings)

Oh yeah, Boston in 6.

^Al Jefferson? Paul Pierce? Gerald Green? Rajon Rondo? Delonte West?...It's not like ya'll didn't have something to look forward to. I personally woulda' supported the Celtics through thick and thin if I were a true fan, though I know it'd be far more of a challenge. Us Laker fans are a lot more spoiled than that...

hopefully they pick their game up though. lebron wont be playing that shit for the rest of the series so the celtics will have a fight on their hands

lol@ LA vs. Boston maybe bringing in decent ratings.  I don't think you quite understand the demographics behind this.  The 2 greatest franchises in NBA history resurrecting their rivalry.  LA is a phenomenal market, Boston is THE bandwagon team this year.  You got Kobe back in the finals after a few year hiatus, you got Garnett finally playing with the chance to get a ring.  Because of the tradition of these teams, you are going to pull in a lot of the older crowd who remember these teams from the 60's and 80's who have very little interest in the young generation of stars.  A lot of casual fans would tune into this that wouldn't otherwise.  All of us are prolly gonna watch the finals regardless of who is in it.  The real money is made by bringin in viewers who wouldn't typically watch this type of thing.

LA vs Boston is easily THE most lucrative finals possible.  And that's what it's all about if you're David Stern.

i had a feeling we'd lose.  but i was expecting a 100-95 type of game

the cavs are making all their shots, its sickening.  shades of Atlanta but the Cavs just don't scare me like the team i watched last year.

Doc should've let himself get ejected, we'd be better off.  i hate him haha.

On the road again...
The Celts can't play on the road again.
They just can't ever seem to notch a win...
The Celts can't play on the road again...

On the road again....
Where the refs don't want to be their friends...
And that god damn Ball can't ever seem to go in...
The Celts can't play on the road again...

Another example regular season and playoffs are VERY different ... I'm not surprised when I see at what poor level the Cs play on the road during these playoffs .. one of their pb is nobody clearly wants to takeover in the 4th .. if Game 7 is decided in the last minutes , Cavs will win

what's comforting to know is that the cavs really have no offense (aside from james) and are able to take the celts to the distance. if the celts make the finals the Lakers (or spurs or hornets) are going to be in triple digits looking down on the parquet posse.
