What abunch of people dont realise is there are different types of producers.
one makes a beat. another takes music and an artist and teaches them how to do what they do best. dre does both. his coproducers dont really do the artist development thing that much. after all of the law suits he has had bout uncleared samples he has started to use coproduces to help make beats faster without sampling asmuch

Damn, the album meets the hype. It's awsome. The production is great and Game is on poiint. The olny track I'm not feeling so far is Special, that shit has one of the weakes Nate Dogg hooks ever and the beat isn''t good either.

i was wondering about the nike thing too. there are references to nike in nearly all the stuff released so far (air force ones, air max and nike in general) and unsurprisingly in the new stuff on the album too. he's also wearing converse on the album cover (now owned by nike).

DJ Quiks Track didnt make it then? Would of liked to have that proper westcoast shit on it then say Timbalands weak beat. Kanye West, Just Blaze songs were alright but if Dre was gonna hand out spaces and money to producers out of aftermath he should of let the likes of Fredwreck drop some ill westcoast sounds. Was hoping for an unreleased Eazy E verse or an appearance from Ice Cube but never mind.
The lps alright but not the classic we were gunning for. Seems like too many 'yes men' at Aftermath now since ems average last album and now this.
Nice to see Scott Storch back on the fold but where 'o' where is Mel-Man?

personally, i can't stand those r&b influenced tracks. i know game has to appeal to the radio/mainstream to reach a wider audience and all that, but songs like runnin' or the havoc produced dont' need your love would be much better without those corny singers.
the production is quite good (with the exception of the two just blaze beats), although there aren't as many dre tracks as game promised in interviews.
imo the highlights are:
- higher (we knew that one already)
- dreams (dope choice for a second single, but please make higher the third one!)
- hate it or love it (surprisingly, 50 steals the show on this track)
- the documentary (great beat! who's that guy jeff bhasker?)
it's a nice album, but it could have been a lot better. the mainstream should love it, though.

The drunken flow on "Start from scratch" is funny.. reminds me off some of the Liks skits.. ;D
It's also interesting to hear that Scott Storch sounds 100x better when DRE does the bass, Storch's solo beats lacks proper bass.

I'm liking them alot, start from scratch is cool as hell, game sounds like joe beast on that track....maybe joe beast is game's drunken alter ego. I like the instrumental for don't worry, its like two beats in one, two different moods in one track....i am impressed with the production all together on this album, its not that often we get this lucky on an album. as far as the dre beats go, i can kinda see where detox was going before he scrapped the album last year, i'm looking forward to the dre album

I just listened to it in the car today, listened to it on the pc yesterday. My favorite tracks so far are 10, 15, and 17. That Nate Dogg track is probably my favorite so far. That beat is absolutely sick and I like the scratches in the hook. I've never heard of Focus before, who else has he worked with?
Those Just Blaze tracks are terrible though. I'm not feeling those at all.
Like someone else said, this album is good for today's standards. I'd give it a 7/10 rating at this early juncture of bumpin the album.

WHAT? THEY TOOK THAT OUT? I haven't heard the album yet, but for me, the way Game screams COMPTON, COMPTON, COMPTON there, totally blew up the song. Them taking that off is straight up FUCKED. Damn.
Anyway, what's true about the rumours the album got DELAYED? I was expecting to pick it up this FRIDAY (.... only two days left) but now I heard it wouldn't come out until Jan 21st? That would be fucked up, but well, it's only a rumour and I don't think they can delay it on such a short notice.

The official releasedate for Europe is/was Jan 17 but the owner of my favorite recordstore told me he'd have the Game's album on stock on Friday the 14th. I don't know who or what spread the rumours, I think it was someone at the same recordstore, but Game delaying right now is not very likely anyway.

There's no way Still Cruisin' would appear on this album... Eazy-E's verse was released before on Mack 10's album The Recipe and they just don't recycle verses like that on retail albums. How about that track with Lil Eazy tho... That one is straight fire, they should have put it on the album.

got it from my local store.........just got done watching the dvd. its running over an hour, its pretty good footage produced by dre & philip atwell. has a long game interview, and its mostly game in compton cruisin around, alot of black wallstreet & billboard footage, shows them at the billboard funeral which was deep... also shows the photoshoot for the album with dre..then more footage of lil eazy, 50 cent & g-unit, busta rhymes.. has some extras too

the Last song stated on the sticker was "Group Therapy"..i was excited, thinking it was a new song that wasn't leaked. but it ain't on the cd.

The Game's album lacks that song. Just my opinion.
This is something I fear from Crooked I's debut album. I keep stressing that an album needs at least 1 song.
Let me use Snoop Dogg as an example:
From 1992-1996 Snoop Dogg put out classic rap records and singles that bless the charts worldwide. He left Death Row and signed to No Limit, released an album in 98, without making huge noise, and again with NL Top Dogg. Both didnt reach the success of his past work. What was he missing? This was when Snoop Dogg really Sold Out, he started jumping on WHATS HOT. He jumped to Master P cause he was "Bout It Bout It" and No Limit were hot in 97. He went to Timbaland to get a hit single for The Last Meal album, he went to Neptunes to get hit singles in 2002 with "Beautiful" etc, he got on 50 Cent's dick to start DPG Unit and do the PIMP REMIX, and he's still using Pharell to stay in the media. Not to mention working with Nelly, Lil Jon, Justin Timberlake etc to score more hits.
Snoop Dogg jumps on whats hot. He leaves his friends behind, like Kurupt said, he had beef with DMX, then the day after Snoop was on a song with the Ruff Ryders because they were "whats hot". But its what keeps him the #1 in the industry.
So respect to Game for keeping it true and not selling out, while having a mix of producers and guests on his album.

He went to Timbaland to get a hit single for The Last Meal album, he went to Neptunes to get hit singles in 2002 with "Beautiful" etc, he got on 50 Cent's dick to start DPG Unit and do the PIMP REMIX, and he's still using Pharell to stay in the media. Not to mention working with Nelly, Lil Jon, Justin Timberlake etc to score more hits.
Snoop Dogg jumps on whats hot. He leaves his friends behind, like Kurupt said, he had beef with DMX, then the day after Snoop was on a song with the Ruff Ryders because they were "whats hot". But its what keeps him the #1 in the industry.

The only thing that will push game is his Talent and the machine of Aftermath/G Unit/Interscope. If he reaches the level 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Eminem are at then its solely down to the guys talent.

I was gonna put this in a response in another thread but I wanted to keep the discussion of those songs in that thread, and let y'all debate each song as a whole in this one. (Don't merge the two!) I am jus gonna mention the ones that I think could be considered as singles.
Higher:
Positives - Probably the strongest song that is a straight up west coast track. Definitely has a catchy hook, a lotta catchy lyrics that everybody could sing along to. Could be played in clubs.
Negatives - Beat isn't gonna catch everybody's ear, and many people won't really like it until they hear it a few times because the beat is much different from everything else on radio.
Special:
Positives - Nate is on the hook. Radio friendly, girls could sing along, and they love songs catered to em.
Negatives - Just isn't a strong track. Nate sounds kinda lazy on the hook, the beat isn't that strong, and even though it shows the "soft side" it can be considered corny to the people who are all about street cred and want Game to be gangsta 24-7. Also, has too much of a Jay-Z influence and too many outside references.
Dreams:
Positives - Strong lyrics, and would be a overall positive song other than the lines about fuckin Mya and 50 n Vivica. Catchy to sing along to the "dream" sample, and most people love the song overall. People who questioned if Game could make a serious song will be pleased with this.
Negatives - A bit slow, definitely couldn't be played in a club unless they were just playin a grip of Game's songs together. Some people may be a lil tired of Kanye songs or songs with the samples but oh well.
Put you on the Game:
Positives - Strongest club track on the album. Bouncy ass beat, got Timbaland on it, has a grip of catchy lines, coo sing along hook, and so far females LOVE it.
Negatives - Umm.... I guess some people may not like the fact that it's such a commercial track, but I don't see too many negatives to it.
Hate it or love it:
Positives - Strong track overall. Pretty laid back, has some strong lines from Game on it.
Negatives - Another song with 50 on it more than him, and 50 starts out on it and has the hook. 50 already did that on the first major single so that doesn't need to happen again. People could be like "damn is this a Game feat. 50 Cent album? Can he hold his own?"
Don't Worry:
Positives - Nice concept, commercially ready beat, Mary J comes with it most of the time, and the way he spits for 8 bar verses but flows em each in a different way and comes strong on them is a good thing. Lyrics definitely make sense and relate to the entire song, and is one of those songs that females will love because it's Mary J.
Negatives - At times sounds like a Mary J featurin Game track. I "think" I have a good ear musically, and I think Dre does too...so maybe I'm trippin but damn, she sounds hella off key at times, especially near the end of it. I realize the melody changes up but it still sounds like she's off key a lot.
Church for thugs:
Positives - East Coast club track that could get some radio play on the east becasue of the style of track. Some hate it but personally, I can get into tracks like this. Decent hook, and he comes off nice on it.
Negatives - For whatever reason, most people don't like it. Some think the beat is real repetitive and just get annoyed by it. I don't think it has a lot of appeal to it to be a major single, but just somethin I could hear in a east coast club.
We aint:
Positives - Has Eminem on it, which already guarantees heads will listen. Game may get outshined in some people's opinion, but the fact that he says it on the third verse makes it humorous and just makes it a coo track.
Negatives - Well...if you wanna say Em got him on it, then that's automatically a negative. Isn't really a single to me but some people might think it would be a good single because of Em bein on it.
Other than those, I don't think it's anything else I would consider as bein a single. But damn..thats a LOT of songs to be considered a single from one damm album, especially with there already bein two singles from it out.

Props, interesting conclusions you're pulling out. You forgot about one thing for the "church for thugs" track tho... Game saying he could drop the volume and then doing so... is the MOST ANNOYING THING production-wise on this album, after that horribly annoying voice eminem used on the production for "we ain't". I absolutely love church for thugs, but the volume dropping just totally spoils the fun for me.
Overall... I'd say Higher should be Game's next single, even though we all have known that track for ages now. It's on some new shit, for real. Some might hate it at first, but half of them will change their minds soon enough, and for the rest... Well, it's simply impossible to please everyone. Higher would be a great pick. It's a waste Game talks so bad about Mya on Dreams, that one would have been a nice single if he hadn't.

Higher and Special would be the best options, hands down. I can imagine Higher being a bomb ass track for listening to in the car on the radio, and I can imagine a broad mass liking Special, including the ladies. Dreams is not so good, but Kanye has been the man recently. Those are the only songs I consider possible for the 2nd single. I can imagine We Aint as the 4th single, when the LP is already pretty old to reveal to everybody that Game is down with Em and get all them 12year olds buy The Game's album.

Yes, the regular cover is inside the collector's edition....the dvd runs about an hour....it is VERY good...just basically him being the narrator (sp? lol) about his life...goin through different hoods...chillin with both Bloods & Crips..Lil' Eazy, Eazy E's dad, etc....VERY good dvd and it is def worth the money!!!

The one you posted IS the G-Unit Special Edition...but just because it's the "Special Edition" doesn't really mean anything...we got a bonus dvd with it, but that's as special as it gets.....Great album, great dvd...but the special edition isn't gonna be a rariety..
