Remember ya'll always said if I complain about America I should leave. I told you I was working on it. And a couple weeks ago Allah cleared the way for me and on Dec. 24th I left America for the Muslim countries. I'm in Sharjah, UAE (Arab Gulf). No telling how long, Allah knows best, and Allah is best in planning the affairs. I don't have a job here or a way of earning and sustaining income, but Allah is the sustainer, and I am with my Muslim brethren. Even the average Muslim on the street here is intelligent, refined, and generous. Even strangers talk like they know eachother here, and a loud speaker makes the call to prayer and people stop what they are doing to go to the mosque for prayer.
Anyway, I can't get on the internet much, so I had to rush this message and be brief, peace to all the true hip-hop heads on the forum, and salaams and Eid Mubarak to all the Muslims on the forum.

u took ur family with u?

Anybody remember that skit on Lethal Injection where Ice Cube stumbles upon this religous zealot who is simply sitting down, literally waiting for Jesus to fall out of the sky? And Cube is like, so if you're just gonna wait here your whole life, you won't mind if I take your car then huh? And dude is like "Go ahead, Jesus will give me another". and Cube is like "Cool" and drives off? I love that skit.

yup, the alchemist is really great. i remember this one story about the wise man who taught this guy what true hapiness is. he said true happiness is to see all the miracles of the world but at the same time to take care of the spoon with the oildrops you carry with you throughout your lifetime. i really love that shit.

I wish you well out there, no one can say you have not taken a brave step into the complete unknown.

I can still post here just as much whenever I'm settled in one place. I just had to figure our where all the internet cafe's are.
-
Do you know the language there? Or is english used by enough people to get by?
Alot of people here speak English, Arabic is the national laungauge but even the street signs have an English translation. Part of my reason for coming here was to learn Arabic, so I actually wish that there were less English speakers here so I would be forced into speaking and listening to Arabic more often.

First of all, Ice Cube is a Muslim. Second of all, there's a big difference in a Muslim depending on the Creator as the sustainer and a Christian depending on a dead man, Jesus; as the Sustainer.
When I say I am depending on Allah to sustain me this is totally logical, because it is Allah that keeps the planets in orbit and the appoints the sun and the moon to their perscribed courses, Allah provides for the billions of fishes in the sea, and so on, etc... so it easy to understand how Allah provides and sustains his creation; and I am being sustained by Allah like the rest of his creation.

thanks man........ it's cool out here, the people aren't suspicious of eachother in the way American's hold eachother in suspicion. Islam unites the people, and people meet and become friends easily.

I give it a month before you are back in America.

Does Allah wipe your arse after you take a shit?
If he does I'm converting.

LOL, I don't know why I'm wasting my time...
A) It doesn't matter if Ice Cube is Muslim bruh.
B) You saying you're depending on Allah to sustain you and that it is totally logical to do so. Maybe in your world, not in mine. I also wouldn't give a fuck if you were waiting on Jesus to sustain you. I'd say the same shit. It's completely irrelevant whether it's Jesus / Allah / Buddah / Kobe Bryant. It's the same shit - justification of all of your actions through some mythical being.
C) My point which clearly sailed over your head is that it's foolish to believe some magical being or some dead dude controls your every move. Why even do anything in life? Why not just lay in the street - if you get hit by a car, it was Allah's bidding right?

i truely dont think religion is about that. who said that if you believe in allah/jesus whatever...you belive they control your actions?a religion shouldnt (actually) substitute for you in your life, but should give you some directions.it should rather help you to get along with your life and to understand what the sense in your life is.
i know that there are people who percieve religon as something that defines their lives, but who cares? as long as nobody has to suffer from that in their surroundings.
-
whoa shit, big move infinite.
i know you dont reply to my posts anymore, but are you gone for good?
hopefully everything works out to plan for you. that's a couragous move no doubt, if you got a one way ticket or not. being submergered in another culture can be a frightening experience, i'm curious how you will find life there in comparison to the U.S.A.
i think it will be extremely healthy for you to have left the U.S.

LOL, exactly I don't either. Go check ol' Bryans posts and you'll understand why I said that. This guy justifies everything he's ever done on Allah's plan. Also, I think it's great if somebody finds a particular meaning for themselves. I've never came down on anybody for their beliefs. But this cat daddy right here is the most self righteous, (read self loathing) judgmental, hypocritical pricks I've ever encountered. He loves EVERYBODY as long as they're Muslim. He doesn't respect anybody else's viewpoints, so why respect his?

^^good point lol

bryan needs to die before he becomes a terrorist and embarrasses white Americans by trying to be down with al qaeda.

I don't know how long I'll be gone. As long as I feel like I am benefiting spiritually, then I will be here. Otherwise, I will leave and go back to America. Also, there are financial and family considerations. So only Allah knows how long I will be here.
Technically my return ticket says June, but for a little bit of money I can change the date anytime.
Life here in comparison to the U.S.? Let me tell you this first. People may think that the more you travel the more you learn and understand. But I've actually found the opposite to be true so far, the longer I am here the more confused I feel. And partly, I wanted to be confused, cause I wanted to learn Arabic and learn from them, but the problem is, there's so many Indian immigrants here everyone speaks Urdu. So they don't understand me much, and I don't have much interest in understanding there language either.
So I am encountering some difficulty.
Also, the people here have way better manners, and are much more polite. But I am starting to sense the possibility that maybe they don't engage in real thought-provoking conversations, which is something I enjoy very much. I enjoy calling different idea's and opinions into question, and analyzing the situation from different perspectives, but so far I have failed to get into any real engaging discussions. People are so agreeable over here, and too much agreement kills a chat.
-
Some other differences off the top of my head...
-In this country, if you get in a taxi you sit in the front seat, because people aren't scared of strangers here like in America.
-You may see two guys holding hands and nobody thinks it's gay or homosexual. People have closer friendships here, and even at your average internet cafe people are crowded next to eachother talking out loud without being shy about the person next to them. There isn't as much privacy because people feel more comfortable with eachother over here. Also, there aren't as many crazy people here. In America you meet people out on the streets that have serious pyschological issue's and medical institutions are full of these people, you don't find that here.
-
thats awesome, sounds like a great place... not for me though, i couldnt handle such a huge change in culture
-
So did you go there with a group of people, another person, or by yourself? Aren't you married? Where are you staying at? You think anybody thinks you're mocking their religion? Are you having any paranoia about people looking / staring at you?
-
What if Infinite gets beahded by some terrorists??
-
What if Infinite gets beahded by some terrorists??
that would never happen. but you would get beheaded in 2 sec. flat. they can smell that bacon sweat. 8)

Props infinite for doing this, it takes a lot of courage.
Have luck on your journey.

yo..thats cool u went all the way to uae to learn arabic, i've been there twice, sharjah, al-ain, dubai...damn cant belive its been ten years since last time i was there i was 14 then.
Are they still building as much as back then??im pretty sure they are!
im curious why u picked uae for learning arabic though?if i wanted to learn arabic and was a muslim i would have chosen Egypt or Saudi Arabia, for one thing its cheaper, and not as much english and no urdu at all. Uae is a arabic muslim country but its so international and multi cultural(which i think i nice btw) so u really dont need to speak arabic, saudi arabia would be different though, plus if u were over there u could visit mecca etc.
i just came back from brazil one week ago, i was there for three months, 90 % dont speak english, so i had to learn potuguese, if they wouldve spoken english i wouldnt had learnd any portuguese at all except some common words like hello, goodbye, thank you etc..
anyway enjoy your trip, UAE is a cool ass country, i was never bored over there, travel around and see the country, its beautiful..have fun!
BTW: try hangin out with people that dont know any english at all, as much as u can, i even lived with a friend and hes girlfriend and none of em knew any english.that way u are forced to learn!!good luck!

I had some connections here in the UAE so that's how I ended up here. But what your saying is right, I'm facing a great degree of difficulty in learning Arabic and that was one of my big reasons for coming to the Middle East. Like you said, I may have to go to Egypt. It's only 300$ for a plane flight from here. In fact, I may be relocating very soon.
...also, you asked about here, yeah, they are biulding like crazy, it's noisy all the time. It's busy with traffic everywhere. I haven't seen any quiet, laid back place yet. Everywhere I've seen is noisy and busy.

alot of people that travel into different cultures suffer confusion and can't adjust, it has a technical term 'culture shock', it's a normal thing that happens to anyone in the first month or so of living (not visiting) in a new environment. you're there for a while, so you'll adjust in no time.
i wouldn't recommend egypt if you want to learn arabic, most peeps there speak english too from what i saw, plus you're american, even though you're muslim all they will see is american dollars... people tend to be extremely friendly and hospitable when they think they will make a dolla. keep that in mind. to me egypt was fake, maybe because i experienced it as a tourist, but the amount of bullshit i saw was unbelievable.

I wasn't really anticipating a culture shock, because much of Islamic culture is the same wherever you go. So some parts of the culture here you can find in a Muslim district located in a large American city or at the masjid.
One intersting note, is that I expected coming to a Muslim country would increase my level of faith (iman), but the ironic thing is that here amongst the people I'm staying with, it's expected with masjid on every street, that I attend all the prayers, etc... So your doing more because it's expected, wheras in America you are doing everything for the sake of Allah because the environment runs counter to your religion.
-
this man proved that why i believe in him most then the others in this forum... thank you for showing your honour, showing your honesty and showing your belief's rights...
if you want to come İstanbul be sure i will be glad to host you and make you see and travel a european city which has most minaret and mosque in the world
Allah knows what you deserve or what you have to live...
i hope all the things goes right for you...
-
it's always good to travel. Im sure UAE is a great place to be if you are a Muslim. But what if you are a non-muslim living there? you get shat on I hear. My mate lived for a few years in Dubai, he got shat on constantly, cus you got less rights if you are not muslim.
-
Remember ya'll always said if I complain about America I should leave.
Anyway, I can't get on the internet much, so I had to rush this message and be brief, peace to all the true hip-hop heads on the forum, and salaams and Eid Mubarak to all the Muslims on the forum.
just seeing this hope all is well and u are more happy there after all....i'm thinking of leaving this country soon also to live in Barbados

i realise you only been there a short while, but at this stage would you give up your life in the U.S to live in the UAE?
-
i realise you only been there a short while, but at this stage would you give up your life in the U.S to live in the UAE?
Tough question.
My confusion over here is much greater than in the US. In the US I know who's who, and what's what, and what is possible, and what is not likely to happen. Also, things are more fixed for me in the US.
Over here, it's totally different. I have no way to truly gauge what my situation is here. If you are an American convert to Islam, over here you are like a celebrity. So I've experienced more genorosity towards me here then ever in my entire life. I'm not paying for anything were I live, people cook for me, and people drive me places I don't have to pay for taxies. Also, there are people who are working on finding me a job, and everything else. So, I have no way of knowing how long this genorosity will last, or if these people will come through for me (by the will of Allah). When in America, I do most everything on my own, so I know what I can and can't do. But here, I'm kind of in the hands of other people.
So right now I can't answer that question. I'm still confused and need more time to see how everything works out. I don't like the city here because it is way too busy. But last weekend I had the oppurtunity to visit the more traditional regions of the country (bediun areas) and I spent time with several American Muslims who had moved out there permanantly and also met some of the locals. Now that would be a nice place to live, it is beautiful and quiet out there, and the people love eachother like family.
So many things going on in my mind right now my head is spinning. At one point, I was considering going to Egypt because I could learn Arabic easier there, also I have family and economic concerns that are calling me back home (I don't have a degree or anything like that, I'm just a regular dude trying to make it), but now some good things have started to happen for me here, it's confusing and I feel pressure; because I am making major life desicions right now, and I know I will be effect by the desicions I make in the coming days for the rest of my life.
-
crazy.
well there isn't much more i can say, make the most of it.
making a decision that will define the rest of your life is not easy.
-

oh and you said something about there being mosques on every corner or whatever where you be at.......not tryna school a muslim on his onw religion but from the muslims i know, there aint meant to be many mosques around in a small amount of area.....
oh and yo like hatesrat said mang, it aint nuttin but truth.....it'd be great for you 2 learn arabic since you a muslim and the quran is written in that language....or is it urdu?......but u know what........one of the best saying ever is....there is no place like home....you many never feel fully welcomed or at peace in america.....but like hatesrat said...politics...racism and all that bullshit aside....you'll feel more at home in the states than you may feel anywhere else.....and if you got major faith in your religion, location is a minor
peace

You should definitely do it. I recommend it.
I've felt confused throughout my trip, but I've also met some amazing people and had unique experiences that I definitely wouldn't find at home. Also, I spent 3 days with a group of Muslims at a masjid in this desert city called Ras-Al-Qamah, and there I finally started to feel my Arabic improving.
Also, while I'm over here, it is easy and cheap for me to visit other countries in the region. I've been invited to visit learn more about my religion in Bangledash with a mixed Arab and American group, so I could be living there soon for a few weeks. If I get there, I will try to make a post from there at an internet cafe if I can.
Anyway, that's a brief update. Peace to everyone at the forum.

Over here, a Muslim has to be really careful about their sincerity of intention. Because, being a good Muslim can get you things here, like jobs, money, marriage, house. Which is a complete contrast from America where presenting yourself as a devout Muslim can put you at a disadvantage in some cases. It's a challenge to be certain that you are seeking Allah and not seeking some worldly benefit when you meet and interact with people.
I've never experienced this before, I've had to make alot of moral desicions over here in that regard that have once again called all my beliefs in to question in from a different angle. I pray to Allah I'm making the right desicions, because sometimes you don't know what is the right or wrong desicion till years later; so all you can do is try to keep a clean heart.

^Ya. You can only assume n shit, you'll never really know how it would've been if you chose a different path. So don't worry... given the chance that you don't fuck it up completely, you will never really know if your decision was right or wrong.
-
every decision you make has negative and positive ramifications. It's all about which ones you focus on.
-
I posted that in all seriousness. No one will know what will happen to them or if they made the right/wrong choices until they're dead. And by then it is too late becuase your fate as already been decided by God, or wahtever. While you're here all you can do is pray or hope on fate that you made the right decision.

Ya'll are reading too much into everything. Making it sound like it's all some big conspiracy I tried to create. It's simple what happened. I left Dec. 24th to the Middle East, and I came back on Feb. 1rst. Simple as that.
I stayed there until Jan. 31rst, I was supposed to go to Bangledash for an annual Muslim gathering they have there every year, but they wouldn't give us boarding passes at the airport in Dubia, because they said Bangledash wasn't giving visa's at their airport in Bangledash this year to our American passports (have to get it from your country of origion (I was travelling in a large group, and out of everyone, just the 6 of us that had American passports weren't given boarding passes)).
Anyway, I was at the airport, I had all my stuff, the room I'd been staying in had been rented out to someone else; also, I wasn't learning Arabic where I was at, and I many things had not happened like I'd expected on my trip... so I made a desicion to change my return ticket and come back to the US.
That's basically what happened, I'll write more about my trip later.
-
I knew he come running back to America. Not even Muslims want to live in Muslim countries.

i wanna live in a muslim country after finishing my education

Maybe America doesn't suck as bad as he thought, or maybe his pilgrimage wasn't as glorious as he thought. Maybe some people thought he was mocking their religion and didn't like it. Or maybe the whole thing was a farce and he was just there on a little trip.
I think he preferred playing the victim of Muslim in America. Over there, he was basically one in a billion muslims. Here in the states he can exploit his plight.

Ya'll said if I complain about America I should leave... well, I've left...
if you'd said "i've taken a vacation to travel and learn arabic" which it seems is what really has happened there'd be no beef.. but thats not what you said..
-

Your doing way too much. My intention when I left was to stay atleast 6 months, possibly much longer... I had to pay a $200.00 penalty to fly back early on my round trip ticket. My total stay was a month and one week.
-
so you came home because some muslim kid stole your music collection??

man i dont want to be one to judge, but what i interpret from this, is infinite is a better muslim than 99% of the arabs out there practising islam.
i hope now infinite understands that the western way of life NEEDS to be protected. god gave us freedom to live our own lives, not to have our lives run for us.

so you came home because some muslim kid stole your music collection??
No.. while I was away in the Middle East, many of my personal belongings were in storage at my home in America. This kid got into my personal belongings while I was away; I didn't find out about all this until I came back.
