I will be dropping some samples used in some West Coast songs .... The first person that listens to it and guesses the song it was used in will get a +1 prop.
NO CHEATING... don't go looking up online sources or go to the Vault.. Listen and if you know it, put down your answer...simple as that...
First song!
Group: The Average White Band
Song: Reach Out

Ice Cube- Steady Mobbin
Good job sir... good ear...
-
Is all the songs gon' be West Coast?
-
I will throw in some non-west stuff... but I have to keep some west related songs in here so that the thread won't be moved...
-
Got cha.

Ice Cube- Steady Mobbin
Good job sir... good ear...
I caught the guitar loop on it.
-
Lunatic... here is an easy one.... probably one of the easiest one's you will hear...
Artist: Quincy Jones
Song: Summertime In The City

-
i didnt even have to hear it.....pharcyde-passin me by.......thats a very famous break.....

-
Damn you. I couldn't think of the name of it though. :boohoo:

No offense to some on this board, but for most I think unless you have listened to a extensive amount of music they might have a hard time with this game. I remember XXL did this with the Doctor's Advocate album, showing the original song it was sampled from. The producers on that album had a good ear for samples.
-
dammit... I was trying to give an easy one for Lunatic... I don't want to make it too hard... because then only a few will participate...
This one will take some listening to...but you should stumble on the answer... remember no cheating
Group: The Evasions
Song: Wikka Rap
Download link: http://www.zshare.net/audio/32177501cbb2dd/
-
But like Chuck said the more difficult, the more interesting. And I KNOW Styles knows some difficult ones.
-
It will extend knowledge.

Would this one be "It's All The Way Live" - Coolio ? I know it was originally a Lakeside song I believe, but this one you posted sounds just like it.

By all means ...continue the game.. I was hoping that others would join in and continue it on...
D-Nice was right... it is 1,2,3,4 by Coolio....
We can switch it up... I just think these games are more fun when you can link up your favorite songs to samples... and plus a good majority of West Coast don't really use obscure samples... but I will list my last one for the day... and I won't say if it's West or not West... and I won't post the name or the artist name... you will just have to listen....
http://www.zshare.net/audio/32180317dec34f/
Thanks for playing!

Basically with Puffy songs just play the original and rap over the instrumental. ;D
-
He did a better job with this one though.... usually he samples the whole fucking song... this one he took a portion and slowed it down... and it wasn't a popular song like "been around the world", etc. The average person doesn't know about the Love Unlimited Orchestra...

I will hook up a couple of joints, give me a minute. Class is in session!

I guess the hard part is wich Houston artist used the piano part?
D-Nice are up for this quiz? I already gave you a hint!
lol yeah thats been sampled like crazy. The only west coast song I can think of that sampled that is "Daam!" on Alkaholiks Coast II Coast album. I'm sure there are others too.

Alright... here are some easy one's.... really easy one's...and if you can't get these, then you need to have your Hip Hop card revoked and be eternally banished to the easy fun listening world of Disney music...
Give me at LEAST 3 songs with this sample... Serio818 already gets a pass because I know that he knows these in his sleep...

this was sampled by DAZZ's last album, a beat produced by JD, cant remember the name... like alwayz... my bad... my brain was burn by weed and coke!!! ;D
-
well.... not exactly what I was looking for....
The Beat "7 Minutes Of Funk" by The Whole Darn Family produced 3 prominent songs, and those were: EPMD's "It's My Thing", Jay Z's "Ain't No Nigga", and Dru Down's "Pimp Of The Year".... those 3 were the most successful songs with that sample....
The other song "It's My Thing" by Marva Whitney also was sampled by EPMD's "It's My Thing" and the other prominent song (although plenty have used this sample) is NWA's "Fuck The Police".... the opening horns where Dre says "order, order, order".....
