There hasn't been a classic album released in the 2000s. If you call those albums classic you have a very VERY loose definition of what a classic album is.
Here are the albums that have been the closest:
50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin'
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Jay-Z - The Blueprint
Kayne West - College Dropout
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Nas - Stillmatic
Scarface - The Fix
All I can think of right now.

As far as making an impact,yes.... I could agree with that.
Even the 50 album made a huge impact, but donīt know if it could be compared to Emīs. ;)
i'm sure you can think of more reasons than just impact ;)

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP was hot but I'm not into tracks where he's talking about killing his wife, that shit was a heavy joint man. Some of the thangs he says turns me off, some the language this cat uses but, man, that track, 'The Way I Am', I put the album on just to listen to that joint singlely.
50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'
Scarface - The Fix
I bought Nas - Stillmatic album some months ago, and started to appreciate his shit to the fullest.
But 2 of my favorite Hip Hop albums ever, which means they ain't Hip Hop classics to prolly nobody but like you said, so fuckin' amazing, from the 00's is....
Yung Wun - The Dirtiest Thirstiest
Roy Jones Jr.....Body Head Bangerz - Body Head Bangerz Vol. 1
-
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'
G-Unit - Beg For Mercy
Kanye West - College Dropout
Scarface - The Fix
Nas - Stillmatic
Jay-Z - The Blueprint
Three 6 Mafia - When The Smoke Clears
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
others I remember I'll add later

Busta Rhymes - The Big Bang :D

that album really is fantastic but nobody will see that cause its Jeezy ::) down south, that album is heavily praised. A great mix of dope dark tracks with some radio friendly hits and definitely has that classic single that everyone should remember: Soul Survivor with Akon. The only tracks that aren't at least 4.5/5 IMO are Get ya mind right, dont get caught and thats how ya feel.
What do u think of it D?
-
that Jeezy album was hard, I got that the summer it dropped and was bumpin' it non-stop... I just don't know though, something about it is missing for me to call it a "classic", but it is a solid album most definatly... Jeezy's second album was dope too, beats weren't as good but lyrically I think it was better
-

Hell yeah that is a classic. When did Black Star drop? Mos Def's 1st album is a borderline classic as well but I think that was before 2000.

Jeezy for me I like his persona and swag more then his lyrics. A little too simple for me lyrically. You gotta understand I am spoiled on Scarface, Ludacris, Bun-B, Outkast, TI and cats like that. They got lyrics. But I will give Jeezy credit, he can make some hit records. I liked the album if I am in the car cruising but not much after that.
-

hell ya, one heck of an album. Everything from the lyrics to the beats were spot on. a southern classic perhaps? I personally was disappointed with the 2nd album. Hopefully "The Recession" is better.

I feel you; Yea, all those artists are definitely better lyrically than Jeezy.

Roots Of Evil came out in 1998. And as good as G Rap is, it's far from a classic.

I forgot one
Little Brother - The Minstrel Show
-
in my opinion a lot of the albums previously mentioned in this thread wouldn't make my list...
Nas - Stillmatic
Jay-Z - Black Album, The Blueprint
Scarface - The Fix
Little Brother - The Listening, The Minstrel Show
Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek - Reflection Eternal
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer
damn its been a slow 8 years in terms of real quality albums i would consider classics, although honourable mentions must be given to 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Trying and a couple of Eminem albums, just for the sheer impact they had on the industry

Yesir that Busta track is on the tape as well. I was bout to say before, Magic is extremely under rated. He really stands out on all the tracks I've heard him on (Down 4 My Ns, I Ain't Got Nothing, etc). I think he dropped a solo himself a few years ago, didnt he? shame he hasnt blown up like he deserves.

the word "classic" is offically dead! :grumpy:
-
Just because it's retro don't mean that it's classic, just because it's classic don't mean it ain't brand new...Not sure if it was mentioned, but the Roots - Tipping Point was phenomenal, only 10 songs, all of them excellently done, I was just thinking about this the other day, definitely a classic.
-
Kinda wack thread. Everybody is just mentioning albums they like

EXACTLY! 85% of the albums mentioned are not even close to a classic album. some not close to great albums, let alone classic. :P

THATS WHAT I BEEN SAYING MAN. IF THE THREAD STARTER WOULDA LISTED ONLY CLASSIC ALBUMS AND NOT HIS FAVORITE ALBUMS WHICH ARE NOWHERE NEAR CLASSIC THEN MAYBE OTHERS WOULDA FOLLOWED SUIT BUT THIS NIGGA TRYING TO CLAIM THAT T.I. AND YOUNG JEEZY ALBUMS ARE FUCKIN CLASSIC. ::) ::) ::)

People should elaborate more on why they feel certain albums qualify as classic, but it's also up to you guys who are generalizing as "a bunch of these aren't even close to classic" to call these into question.
I listed The Roots- Tipping Point, because it reflected the peak of their success, 10 songs, none of them filler, minimal but good guest appearances, great subject matter, different than anything out at the time, and was relevant sales-wise.

and I ain't talkin east coast/south classics, albums would u consider hiphop classics..and i aint down with that "it has 2 change the game" nah, i keep it simple..if the album is just overall so fucking amazing, its a classic; so respect my opinion and I will respect others.
50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin
AZ - AWOL
Chamillionaire - The Ultimate Victory
Clipse - Lord Willin
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP & The Eminem Show (?)
Jay-Z - The Blueprint & The Black Album
Nas - Stillmatic
Scarface - The Fix
T.I. - Trap Muzik
UGK - Underground Legends
Young Jeezy - Thug Motivation 101
pretty much wraps it up, only addition is "Graduation" or "College Dropout" or both lol.
Tell me how The Fix, Underground Legends, Trap Muzik, The Eminem Show, Graduation, The Ultimate Victory, AWOL, Lord Willin and Stillmatic classics. Just because you like them doesn't mean they're classics. They might be personal classics to you, but that's a different story.

Add
Little Brother Minstrel Show
-
^^Exactly...Off the top of my head, that album and Cunninlynguists-A Piece of Strange aren't getting the credit they deserve in this section, both classics. "The Minstrel Show" really had a major impact, 9th's soulful beats, and this really represented and put Little Brother on the map. "A Piece of Strange" was an incredible album, every song was amazing.

Ok if we gonna argue why an albums classic post-2000 then i'd say Lupe Fiasco made being yourself acceptable and gave way to groups like The Cool Kids. The production was dope and there were some innivotive production like The Instrumental. The rapping was top notch and te album sounded perfect to me.
