It's here! We've arrived at the fourth and final part of our exclusive interview with Snoop Dogg. The first three parts were so packed with exclusive information that it had people wishing the interview would never end. Unfortunately, Part 4 is the last part of this interview, but we've already planned the next interview with Snoop Dogg, so stay tuned!
For now, check out Part 4 below:
Snoop Dogg & Dubcnn - The Interview: Part 4 (http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/snoopdogg06/part4)
In Part 4, Snoop talks about working with Pharrell, why he doesn't get Dr. Dre to do his whole record, and what he thinks of people claiming Dr. Dre steals beats from people without giving them their proper credit.
We go into detail regarding the production of The Chronic and other Death Row albums, as well as Snoop's views on Dr. Dre, Daz and others as producers.
Snoop Dogg explains why dubcnn is a good way for him to speak his mind compared to other internet companies, and we end the interview with some more words on Spider Loc, 40 Glocc and Crooked I.
Also, for those wanting the final answer on whether Dr. Dre has production on "Blue Carpet Treatment" or not, the answer is in Part 4!
We hope you enjoyed this exclusive four-part feature with Tha Doggfather. We have another Hip-Hop legend getting ready to hit dubcnn VERY soon, I won't reveal who it is yet, but it's gonna get crazy again!
-
woooooooooooooot, this is what we do ;D
-
this is absolutely the best part of the whole interview 8)
-
Now Snoop is taking shots at Warren G and Daz?
And where did Daz diss Snoop on Retalation and Revenge?
-
Now Snoop is taking shots at Warren G and Daz?
wtf??
-
Thanks, Imma check it, keep on it ;D
-
Yeah Snoop does kind of bash Warren G and Daz. Snoop is kind of a dick to supposebly his best homies.
-
Now Snoop is taking shots at Warren G and Daz?
wtf??
He said their solo albums are garbage.
-
Snoop just killed all those rumours about Dre stealing credit, looking forward for their collaboration.
Props to Dubcnn and of course Snoop Dogg for whats been one of the coolest and realest interviews I've read in a long time. 8)
-
Now Snoop is taking shots at Warren G and Daz?
wtf??
He said their solo albums are garbage.
He's just giving his opinion on some of their records. How is that dissing? ::)
-
And where did Daz diss Snoop on Retalation and Revenge?
That's what I wanna know because I don't recall daz dissin' anyone in particular, not even subliminal disses like when he dissed Snoop on "What it iz" and "Baccstabbers"
-
Yeah Snoop does kind of bash Warren G and Daz. Snoop is kind of a dick to supposebly his best homies.
and it's ironic because Snoop appeared on most of those albums as well
it shows how little respect he has for Warren and Daz as producers....considering that if he let them produce songs on his last couple projects they would have turned about 10x better.
-
You people blow his comments out of proportion. Go grab a dictionary and look up the word dissing.
Props Nima, and another one 8) DUBCNN what can I say

Fresh! Now I know Dre is gonna be on his record and that it's all peace between him and Crooked I, hope his album is good.
-
Propz! Very interesting read, I found the part about Retaliation, Revenge, and Get Back the most interesting, the shit about the record company buying the 300,000 copies was crazy I wonder if thats true. Also when did Daz diss Snoop on that album? I dont remember hearing any disses
-
best interview dubcnn done did in my opinion
-
good stuff, about daz givin dre the beats and dre fixing them up to sound the way they did.. sounds about right. all the stuff daz has done after dre left is always missing something but he has the right idea, i can see what snoop is sayin. dre was the head coach and daz the coordinator, great combo! ;D
-
Hwat song does he diss him on a that revenge and retaliation? As far as the Beats and Dre , making beats myself i knew before hand thats what he was gonna say, i always knew. Its oe thing to make a beat but to produce a song is wayyyy more work.
-
props on the interview
hope there's more than 1 dre song on BCT though, he said he already had 2 a few months after R&G...
-
damn snoop kinda shittin on his boys
-
Wow, props to Dubcnn once again, this is the best part for me.
He basically explained why rappers in the top like Snoop, Em, 50, Jay, Nelly sometimes do wierd collabos, very commercial songs.... Its like he said they do 2,3 records more pop and they get hated on like crazy.
Dubcnn: It's crazy you say that though. A lot of people been saying that for a long time.
Nah, but when I say that, it's not disrespect, because them niggas will bring a track that sounds cool, but when he's finished with it, that muthafucka is immaculate. Like for example if you were to hear the Stevie Wonder song that Busta Rhymes brought to Dre before Dre touched it, you would think it's two different songs.
Dubcnn: But he still should get some production credit though.
But, at the same time, Dre didn't take that from Sha Money. And when he was doing that for niggas back in the days, they didn't deserve to have their name in the game like that, because he did all of the work! So what you found a sample and you got a cool little drum file, but he brought the shit to life, so he really produced the track! Producing is bringing the track to life! Beatmakers make beats. A lot of niggas make beats. He produces tracks. So that ain't disrespect what I'm saying. I'm just telling you what's real.
I seen him make tracks from scratch. My whole record the nigga made damn near everything from scratch. "Ain't No Fun", Daz and Warren G brought him the little *sings melody*, that's all they had! Dre took that muthafucka to the next level! Warren G brought in the Donny Hathaway, "Little Ghetto Boy, laying in the ghetto streets." Dre flipped it like "Hold on, gimme that!" Took that muthafucka and made it straight hit!
Dubcnn: So you're saying it's wrong that Daz or Warren G would claim that they didn't get the credit they deserved on The Chronic or Doggystyle?
I'ma say it like this: they didn't deserve the credit back then because they didn't do the work. They made beats, Dre produced that record. Point blank, and I'd say it in they face. They made beats, cuzz produced the record. If you a real nigga in the rap game, you'll understand what I'm saying. I can make a beat, but I can't produce! I can make a beat, but can I tell a nigga what to rap about, can I tell him when to come with the hook? Can you break the beat down? That's what producing is.
Dubcnn: Right, but if I brought in the beat, I would still want my name somewhere.
But, if you brought in the beat, that's all you did, was brought in the beat. You didn't produce this record. This song says "Produced by" not "brought in the beat by". Keep it real! So that's what niggas got wrong, and they started pointing fingers and try to bad mouth him, when in actuality Dre doesn't need ya'll, ya'll needed him! Because this shit ya'll learned from him, that made ya'll better producers. He didn't learn shit from ya'll! See that's what niggas don't understand! Before The Chronic, how many hit records did Dre have before that? Everything he made was a hit record right?
Dubcnn: Right.
How many hits did Warren G make, how many hits did Daz make? None. None. Okay now, look at the tracks that they produced on The Chronic. Did they have any records like that by theyselves? No. You answer the question for me!
Dubcnn: Maybe on Dogg Food?
Come on man! Dogg Food was produced by Soopafly, Daz and Dr. Dre!
Dubcnn: Dre mixed it right?
No, Dre produced a lot of that shit! I'm telling you, Daz and them brought Dre beats, and he produced the muthafuckas! "What Would You Do" was just a beat that Daz had did. That "bu-bump, bu-bump", the nigga Dre put all that shit on it, that *sings* What would you do, whaa *sings* just to give it that other shit! I'm telling you what I know man! Niggas gotta give Dre the ultimate respect. Niggas try to bash him and cut his knees down like he didn't do nothing nigga, he's the saviour man! Because what he did was, he showed niggas how to produce. Because niggas was good at making beats, but he showed you niggas how to produce! If ya'll had really did what ya'll say ya'll did, ya'll woulda put records out that sold 3-4 million on your own, like he did. I still have to see it!
All the records that they put out solo wise, GARBAGE. Warren G's last record, HOT TO DEATH. The records in between, I don't know. And these are my homeboys, I don't lie to you, I tell it like it is!
I think all Dre haters should STFU now.
-
Keep it coming!
-
Snoop gave Dr. Dre dickriders more reason to dickride him.
-
I didnt really have a problem w/ anything Snoop said in part4 but I disagreed with his comments relating Warren G's solos, it sounded like he loved Regulate and In The Mid Nite Hour but hated everything in between. And I disagree cause I enjoyed I want It all and Return of the Regulators as much as any Warren solo album.
-
Nima WHERE THE FUCK YOU AT?!!!!
-
Snoop gave Dr. Dre dickriders more reason to dickride him.
Wow you just said something that actually makes some sense, damn propz!
-
Them shiits was garbage. You HAD to be a fan to like anything more than 5 songs on both of them albums. They werent up to snuff compared to Regulate and the Midnite Hour. Both of them are classics to me. Hopefully for Warren hell get a chance to put somethin else out.
-
Snoop gave Dr. Dre dickriders more reason to dickride him.
He was just telling the obvious truth.
Daz and Warrens "production" on Dogg Food >> anything in their entire carrer
-
Thats your opinion and I have mine, Return Of The Regulator is my favorite Warren album ever and I Want It All is even with Regulate imo.
-

I agree completely

dang
Its how I feel, Regulate was a GREAT album no doubt but I have always enjoyed Return Of The Regulator more. "Streets of LBC" "Young Locs Slow Down" and "Lookin at You" are 3 of my favorite tracks ever.

So whats the plans man?!!!!
-
Dopeness, as always. Props Nima!
The laydown on Dre's work and all that was cool. But how you gonna call Warren's records garbage? That's fucked up. Straight up.
Also extremely cool to hear Dre got a record on the new album.
And the part about how most of Retaliation, Revenge & Getback sales came from the record company itself, wow that's some crazy shit.
What collabos has Em done that's so commercial? He had pop tracks, but he did those on his own, as far as I remember. (There's that one Limp Bizkit track, but it didn't get released.)
-
So Snoop hooked up wit Dre for a song on 'the blue carpet', a controversial song eh?
About time. 8)

Dopeness, as always. Props Nima!

Maybe not fruity collabs, but Em by himself has been part of some of the corniest, gayest, songs I have ever heard

Snoop just killed all those rumours about Dre stealing credit, looking forward for their collaboration.
Killed? more like just confirmed imo. Taking an idea that was someone else’s and making it better, or in this case making it a hit record still starts from taking it from someone else. I personally believe dre is not a very creative beat maker. I would point to his earlier stuff being very very sample heavy with songs being little more than just well chosen loops with some instrumentation played and conceived by other musicians. It’s also evident in his current beats which are very very similar and haven’t really deviated from the same heavy drum synth combination. Dre’s talents lie more in the technical realm of music recording and production. He knows what sounds good and what doesn’t but I as far as being CREATIVE I think Dre needs those energies from others.

That's wassup. I like Montreal, it's like a mix between Europe and the States.
-
nice interview...
why do I still feel like I was teased?
-
Good interview. I guess Snoop did not like all the dope production Daz did for Doggfather, All Eyez, Gang Related or anything else. He will probably say that Quik did all that. I can see his points about the Dre situation but I think Daz and Warren G do not need Snoop's approval to be considered dope producers by others. They already have that.
-
Hwat song does he diss him on a that revenge and retaliation? As far as the Beats and Dre , making beats myself i knew before hand thats what he was gonna say, i always knew. Its oe thing to make a beat but to produce a song is wayyyy more work.
Exactly, that's why anybody that knows 1 fucking thing about the music industry never believed that shit about Dre, people gotta be crazy to accuse him of that.

Dubcnn: Alright man, I appreciate you sitting down and talking to us.
All the time man, I'm the Don of the West Coast man, Ice Cube is my Godfather, Dr. Dre is my Godfather, and Ice T is the originator of this gangsta shit. But at the same time, I'm the new boss. I'm the new Al Capone. I'm the new John Gotti, I'm the Teflondon, it's my world. And I run it the way I run it. I don't run it like they did, but I still respect them and what ever they did, they put that shit inside of me to where I am who I am today.

Well you say he is not a creative beat maker, like snoop said he PRODUCES. Making beats myself i know for a fact making beats and producing is 2 different things. Second you cant make a hit record all by yourself you need to surround yourself with many people to get different ideas. Its like when the bulls were winning all those championships, Mj had a very good supporting cast.. same thing here. Records, movies tv shows and of em need different people working on the project and if Dre takes a piano line ad violins back up singers a guitar lick and paces it a certain way then he DID produce this track.
-
That's wassup. I like Montreal, it's like a mix between Europe and the States.
I hope you like it here dude.

I always tell niggas, I coulda went on some Snoop Dogg shit and just said "Ay Dre, do my next record." and just lock down and be like "Fuck all yall I got the hottest shit on the West, and I'm the reason bla bla bla". But I'm not selfish. I coulda smashed everythang and did that. Cause he's at my disposal. But I'd rather fuck with other producers, other artists, and just give niggas an opportunity that I feel deserve it. Cause I fuck with Dre, it's not gonna be Terrace Martin, it's gonna be Battlecat, it's not gonna be Soopafly. All these niggas is gone! It's gonna be Dr. Dre produced by. Even if ya'll produced it! You feel what I'm saying?
Aint agreeing wit that at all. Why would Dre wanna control the whole shit? He coulda just done it like on Top Dogg and get 3 tracks from Dre, 3 from Quik, Battlecat or whoever. Thats the combo for a crazy record and Snoop knows that.
It will be disappointing to just get 1 track from Dre, but I guess 1 is better than none. We did get a new Snoop/Dre collabo not that long back on that Melloe track "There They Go" with a new Dre beat and new Snoop vocals but when you know itz for Snoops record its gotta be something big. If its controversial like snoop sayin then it probably wont be a single :/ and the west need 2 c snoop & dre shoot another video one day.
that was 1 big big interview - thx for hittin us with it
-
Dubcnn: You said you worked with Dre, is that gonna be on the record?
Yeah yeah, we got a record, a vicious record. This record is very controversial. On some controversial shit, I don't even wanna give it away. It ain't on no getting at niggas, but just on some controversial shit.
does 'we' mean dre gonna rap too??? damn cant wait
peace
-
oh almost forgot (how could i)....props to NIMA and the entire dubcc staff, this has been one of your best efforts, and don't think its isnt appreciated
thank you
peace

this is absolutely the best part of the whole interview 8)
Hands down, this has been an incredible interview. Definitely the best from Snoop/DubCNN I have ever read. So many revelations, unedited opinions, and some real game from Tha Doggfather. I can't thank you guys enough for this one. A great read.
Anyone else find this part hilarious (actually funnier when you listen to the audio):
Dubcnn: You don't like the Retaliation, Revenge & Get Back?
He was dissing me!
Dubcnn: I know, but it was still a good record!
I don't give a fuck! I don't like records with niggas dissing me! What I look like man?
---
...He really doesn't give a fuck. Although saying all of Warren and Daz's solo's have been garbage isn't the best promo for his cousin's forthcoming major label album :D
-
I was listening to the audio interview and following along to the typed interview, and no where on the audio does Snoop say Dre produces on TBCT...

Yeah that Regulate was a horrible album ;) This part of the interview was funny and pointless at the same time.

Snoop called Nima after the first part dropped and they added that part to the interview.
-
^^ Yeah, I can get that part of the audio up in a few days, I'm in Canada right now.
Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming!
-
i still aint to sure about dre being on this record but either way im hyped, snoop droppin an album is always a spectacle for hiphop, dope or wack
-
"It's gonna be Dr. Dre produced by. Even if ya'll produced it!" - Snoop
He can cover that up all he wants, but he know what he was doin when he said that.
-
Props for that, Nima! One of the most interesting interviews I've ever read. Part 3 was the best imo... So I'ma stay tuned for your upcoming exclusives ;)
-
Great interview
Looking forward to the Dre/Snoop track on TBCT - should be on fire gping by the way Snoop talking
-
It's good to here Snoop breaking down what went down with those beats on Doggystle and Doggfood. I never beleived Daz was a real producer. All the shit Daz has done without Dre holding his hands has been subpar at best.
-
LOL @ muthafuckas gettin hurt cause snoop is speaking the truth....snoop was being real...he aint gotta lie to daz or warren...he's being a real homie....
-
Warren G is one of the most thorough niggaz out west. Dr. Dre makes beats and has the technical aspect down, but Quik is the best nigga out the west overall with that music, he composes and produces. Dre is overrated, but the dude is nice. Every since he left Ruthless(where he made hella noise and HISTORY) he's never made good music without inspiration or ideas from others
-
good interview..but snoop talks too much shit about people..again
Yeah he thinks his shit dont stink

Nobody does. Even your hero DJ Quik has inspiration, dumbass. Everyone is inspired by others or things they see, or whatever... and everyone uses ideas they heard somewhere and thinks on them and comes up with other things.
-
Appreciate the feedback... more!!

snoop said something like "time to go back to the hood shit and get yo fingers dirty." he was telling the truth i guess.

Damn.....the part about Dre producing was VEEEERY interesting.
I wouldn't say that Warren and Daz's beats have been trash since they stopped working with Dre back in the day, but you can tell that there was a major difference in the music. I do think Snoop's words were a bit harsh, but he wasn't dissing them at all in my opinion. If I was Daz or Warren, I would take offense to those words...he kinda put them on blast.

I understand what you are saying but tell me this. The things Snoop was saying about things Kurupt N Daz did, why does everybody respect what he said but when Daz and Kurupt bring stuff up about Snoop that aint OK? Snoop was in the wrong too and if he was REALLY over that stuff he would not bring it up and re hash the fact he could "smash on his homeboys". You don't hear Ice Cube saying dumb shit like "Oh on Dre Day I am still mad that Dre N Snoop dissed me, I had a diss track that would have killed Snoop's career". He got over it and moved on.

Great interview - a good insight into tha doggfather 8)

in 95, when twinz dropped conversation, dr. dre wasn't around at that time, and warren made some HELLA TIGHT ASS BEATS. eastside lb is one of is best beats of all time

yeahh great interview.. props

Warren G and Daz have both produced some great tracks over the years, but that was after they worked in the studio extensively with Dre on the Chronic and Doggystyle. This isn't no fucking mystery, Warren G and Daz had never even BEEN in a studio, the guy that TOOK them into the Studio was Dr. Dre! They'd fucked around a little bit but not on any major level, more on a "let me buy 4 hours of time from you"... This is history, it's not really disputable. you can't really say "Oh, Warren was a good producer, he produced on Doggystyle" because at that time, dude had never been in a recording studio except for a few sessions outside of working with Dre. Dre showed him some shit, and Warren took it and ran with it, recorded "Regulate", etc. Same with Daz. Of Course Dre showed them how to produce, it's common knowledge.

lol @ saying this. It's also common knowledge that Warren G is the reason WHY Snoop & Nate appeared on "The Chronic" cause without his help Dre wouldn't have heard of em. Warren G was the guy that produced the shit for the 213 Mixtapes... And listen to "I Want It All" one of the best beats fo lizzife mayne. Sure, Dre did a lot of stuff for them dude's but u talking like Dre is the only reason why anybody else is allowed to produce or whatever...
-
Props Nima,
This dude is famous for saying "no disrespect, but"...how can you say no direspect in one sentence and the in the next say something that completly disregards "no disrespect" ???....All I know is that Daz's Retaliation, Revenge, & Get Bacc and RAW was str8 heat, so I don't know what the fucc Snoop is talking about Daz not being able to do anything worth while post Dr. Dre era....Basically, him running off at the mouth is all promotion for the new album, so he can have braging rights and more of a reason to brainwash niggaz into thinking that if they fucc with him, they are going to make millions of dollars and be in tons of movies and be really really famous ::)...I would trust Snoop about as much as I would trust George Dubya...R&G was GARBAGE and no matter how this nigga tries to spin it to a positive, he sold out to the pop crowd and now he is trying to gain bacc the respect he once had in the hood with this "BCT" album and preaching "West Coast Unity" :grumpy:
-
is snoop crazy saying warren's and daz's shit is garbage since they stoped working with dre? and then says in the mid night hour is hot to death???
i want it all is way better than midnight hour, and raw/rr&gb is better than cali iz active so i dunno what hes talkin about
-
snoop said something like "time to go back to the hood shit and get yo fingers dirty." he was telling the truth i guess.

why the fuck has snoop got a manacure. & i swear in "My Peoples" he says "sittin in my thong"

Gotta agree with that. Also, there is a difference between composing, and playing every instrument, just like there's a difference between just making a beat and producing. One of the things that separate the elite producers from everyone else is that they do collaborate with other musicians. DJ Quik has worked with Robert Bacon, Raphael Saddiq, El Debarge, and G-One.
Also, when Dre left Death Row, why did Dre's sound leave with him?

Oh, i didn't know That! Sike.
Listen to the mixtape. It was shit. It was their only one. Warren was nobody. The only reason he helped dre hear them was because he's HIS FUCKING BROTHER. Dre was the only person alive who even knew who Warren was, you're acting like he was already accomplished. He looped a fucking record and had Snoop rap over it. Big whoop. That's not a producer, you are a child and have no idea about making music.

Don't argue with Trauma, you'll always lose. ;D

I don't think so...

^^
Man, I got all the respect for Warren, huge fan of his music, but the fact is that he learned the trade from the best - the-the-the Doctor, Andre Young. Same goes for Daz - they were sorta interns for Dre when making Chronic & Doggystyle, then applied what they learned ever since.
-
Does anybody have that 213 mixtape???
It is a fact that Warren G did learn at the beginning of his career from Dr Dre, listen to "Dope Beat" off his "I Want It All", where he says "Dre teachin’ me to work a beat, now I’m bangin’"
Also the interview on http://www.nobodysmiling.com/hiphop/interview/85720.php he mentions
"He [Dre] helped me as far as showing me how to elevate my game as a producer. When I first got into producing, he showed me some things but outside of that I picked up most of the stuff on my own."
But its logical that Warren's beats were not polished, before Dre helped him out. Warren needed a platform (which is Dre) to teach him the basics of using professional studio equpment and techniques, and giving him the opportunity to practise. It is with anything in life, you need to learn either by self help or by a teacher to apply it.
-
Does anybody have that 213 mixtape???
Yeah, I would like to hear that too. Only heard 1 song from their demo days. Snoop says "I'm fresh out the county jail" at the end of that song. I wanna hear that track "Long Beach is a muthafucka" or any song from 213 before 1992. Please up it if ya got it.
-
wasnt there supposed to be a track on "The Hard Way" called Long Beach Is a Muthafucka?
-
No he means, this one, (only 11 second clip from westcoast2k) http://www.westcoast2k.net/media/213_LBC_iz_A_Mutha.rm
But didn't Dubcnn & Westcoast2k merged? Maybe the admin of Dubcnn might have access to some of those rare tracks from its partner site Westcoast2k as some of the links 213 are broken.
Plus the Rare audio section on Dubcnn is still being amended http://www.dubcnn.com/media/rareaudio/
and Westcoast2k got some rare track, some which links are broken so maybe osoon, Dubcnn will start hosting on its site, as it says on the rare audio section....
"The merger with Westcoast2K sees the vast array of rare music which will now become available on dubcnn."
-
Yeah, westcoast2k is where I heard that 213 demo track. It's still there!!! http://www.westcoast2k.net/media/213_Demo-Tape.rm
I wonder if this is the track that really impressed Dre.
-
Wow, props to Dubcnn once again, this is the best part for me.
8)
-
Snoop just killed all those rumours about Dre stealing credit, looking forward for their collaboration.
Killed? more like just confirmed imo.
Do you know what a PRODUCER IS? NOT a Beat Maker. ::)
-
too bad its finished it was good while it lasted :(
-
Its about to get crazy again!!! Not with Snoop... but another legend... dropping in a few minutes!!

lets hope this time you dont chop it up into 4 parts

Snoop gave Dr. Dre dickriders more reason to dickride him.
He was just telling the obvious truth.
Daz and Warrens "production" on Dogg Food >> anything in their entire carrer
that's what I keep saying
Dre mixed the shit out of that album , it's no coincedence that Daz best beats were when he was fukkin with Dre, same with Warren
Daz hasn't even come CLOSE to Dogg Food beats since he fell out with Dre
