.....just woke up and turned it to ESPNEWS, looks like they're trading Caron Butler and either Chucky Atkins or Devean George for Brown....I really don't like this trade at all.... >:(

its not a good trade but its not a bad trade either, i thought caron was worth more but no one really wants to deal with the lakers because they dont wanna see them on top, right now butler was expendable because he did not really fit in the system so we got a big for it.....the only reason i always say he was a bust is because he was the number one pick and youd expect more from someone like that, but its an average trade in my opinion....if theyre offering chucky then i think that means that antonio daniels is coming...that would be a solid team!! most importantly it move LO to SMALL FORWARD!

yup with the big contracts the sg and small forwards got caron wouldve bolted .... theyre getting 11 12 million dollar deals...so we got something for him now rather than get nothing later...so thats a positive...also kwame is supposed to get a 3 year deal with the third being the option, so the option i think is after the 2007 season when yao and ming are available....plus grant will be off the books by then and vlade

what you guys dont understand is that they took a risk! they took one with kobe when the lakers traded away their starting center for some high school kid. basically the lakers had nothing to lose.....caron wouldve been the sixth man next year because lamar wouldve played sf....a change of scenery i think can help kwame like jermain oneal....now that very different from saying he will play like jermaine oneal because thats not what im saying....im saying his case could be similar to JO's situation in portland. the lakers lost nothing but their best trade bait...but at the same time no one wanted to deal with the lakers...they didnt want to take on big contracts so they could have a lot of cap space in 07 to sign an all star caliber player at the same time by that time bynum will have developed...so this plan is not just for right now but for the future, they will have some practice for the next two years and then will be ready to be champions in three years...and not just a one time wonder because remember we will have a very young team in bynum lo kwame and kobe. i think theyre taking a big risk in kwame but i also think that they have nothing to lose in taking it.

I don't like the trade, but it ain't final yet...Phil had a plan to start Caron at PG next year, which sounded a lot better to me than Kwame Brown...I didn't think Kwame is worth Butler, let alone Butler AND another player...Hopefully the trade doesn't go through, but if it does, I hope it works out for the best...PeACe

I think this is a pretty good trade. Brown is still young and has many years left in him, so there is still time for him to improve and become a better player. Also, it seems as if Brown needed a change of scenery, so this might be good for him because it also takes some pressure off of him, not like in Washington.

lol@people who think theyre psychic......i guess 30 milliondollars a year was getting shaq for free and 17 mil a year for kobe was a piece of pie....chucky was a major liability on defense...i think some people either dont watch laker games and are bandwagon fans or they do watch them but dont understand basketball....the whole frontcourt has 7 or near 7 footers.....the reason the lakers were so bad on defense last year is because chucky would pgs blow by him making the low post defenders come and help thus leaving the big men open under the paint...i agree i would rather have washington take devean george and chucky, cause he wouldve been great off the bench but business is business.....people who disagree please say why you do so....caron played very well during garbage time last year towards the end of the season when it was determined they werent going to the playoffs. caron was going to be traded regardless they had to get rid if him because he was going to leave in free agency. lakers dont have enough money to retain him...and i keep saying this because its the most important factor in my opinion, it moves lamar to the 3 spot..if anyone disagrees please read the post and tell me in which way i am wrong

People here always seem to disagree with what Phil Jackson says. He writes in his book that Kobe is uncoachable, & I let people know that; and people say that is wrong. As for your comment about you not thinking that the country I live in doesn't get NBA games, you obvisously haven't been to Canada which use to have 2 now it's down to one NBA team. I liked Butler a lot, he was a good Laker, good for the organization, fans, etc.... I was saddened to see him go...After Phil Jackson explained the trade, the need for more bigs, and the potential he saw in Kwame, I was totally willing to give it a chance...While I was giving Kwame a chance, you guys were shitting all over him, wishing he'd die, saying he sucked, saying he wouldn't be in the NBA if he wasn't picked first...I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO SAID IT LIKE IT WAS... 8)

He looks way too raw for a 5th year player, I agree, but that's why I believe in him. I believe that if he learns to play consistant and more alert, which he hasn't been doing, he can be a factor. That'll take more than 6 games to achieve under Phil Jackson.. Now you guys don't see potential in Kwame? What about his first half performance vs. Minnesota where Kwame outperformed KG? He locked up KG very efficiently and proved to Laker fans that he CAN defend against the bigs of the west. He at least has been a good defensive present thus far, he just needs to learn how to utilize his talent more often, especially on the offensive end. Kwame is rushing his shot right now. Best believe that he wont be doing that under Phil come April...It's way too soon to be shit-talking, you need to give it a chance.
