Title: THE HOLY BIBLE
Post by: bez on August 13, 2003, 03:59:04 PM
Hs it ever occured to anybody that this book could just be fictional.

What do alot of people do nowadays for a hobby and in alot of cases for money, the write books.  What if there was a guy many many many years ago that decided he would write a book and he sat down and he wrote storys about this son of God, named Jesus.  How do we know that the bible isnt a fictional story that has just basically been added to so much over the years that we actually believe everything that is.  I am stuck in between what is real and what is transparent, I would like to think there is a God and everything in that book happened but then again if you really think about it then its impossible or very unlikely that any of it did.

I like to believe that there is a God and we do go somewhere after we die but considering nobody can actually stand up in the world and say wheather it is right or wrong, what is realy the point in believing??

if one day this guy finds out the bible ain't real..and is fiction...well, its one of the best books i've ever read

i'll also probably kill some ppl and do some serious sinning if that ever happens ;D

yup... i had a friend who's foster father was a priest (mm and his sister angel was a cutie  ;D)

anyways.. i spoke to him one day while waiting or something.. and told me...

you dont have to believe in god or that everythings written, but that the book is a guideline for how to live your live morally if u choose to follow its guidelinse. u cant argue with that.

i think different derivations of faith look at it different ways, i'm not sure what branch this guy was from (he had a white dog collar n that tho...)

I read the Bible from time to time, I don't care if it's fiction. You can learn a lot from it...life lessons and things like that.

All religions have a book of Guidelines..

No religion can exist without well defined rules..

and these rules are modified and simplified and interpretted differently over the centuries to suit the tastes of the contemporary generations... Bible is also one such book... so are the Vedas and so is the Quran...

Of course it's ment as a way to tell the people how to live their life, though it falls short on the moral plane.I wouldn't recommend blasting homosexuals into oblivion, as God did to the ones in Sodom and Gomorra for example.

That's the best thing that's been said on here.  I think the bible's power over people, and it's distribution througout history also says a lot for it.  It's a pretty good book, and pretty powerful to be totally fake.

As Muslims we believe that the message of the prophet Issa alayhi wa salaam (Jesus) was a devinely authentic message in it's origional form; teaching worship of One God.  However, the language he spoke in no longer exists, and much of the Bible has been altered for political and other reasons.
