Alright motherfuckers, I think this section is slacking. I blame 14 year olds and lazy OGs. So lets talk about some relevant shit. What the fuck was the best single released this year? Well I'm not asking, I'm telling you. It was untoubtedly:
UGK ft. Outkast (Prod by Three 6 Mafia) - International Players Anthem
This song was single of the year before Pimp C passed, and now it's even more deserving. This song is fucking sick on about 5 different levels. I'm not gonna go that deep, but I'm gonna say this: DJ Paul and Juicy J are phenomenally talented, Bun B is the most underrated MC in the game today, Andre 3000 is on his own fucking planet (as evidenced by the fact that 3 6 couldn't match the beat to 3000's off beat flow), Big Boi is more than just the Scottie Pippen of Outkast, and last but not least, Pimp C lets us know how real he is "My bitch a choosy lover / Never fuck without a rubber / like it on top of sheets / never underneath the cover / money on the dresser / drive a kompressor, etc... A perfect 10 out of 10 joint for me. 6 legends, perfect production, and true lyricism in every verse. Sick ass shit.
-
yeah that single was the shit for sure. one of my favorite from the album (which is very rare to say now-a-days)
i'd go with what jrome said 8)
-
Yeah I will roll with that.
Street banger I got to go with Never from Scarface.
-
yea, gotta agree with that one for sure. all 4 KILLED it..big boi flow :o
but i think it's wrong to say that after pimp passing, it's more deserving. not 2 sound rude, i miss pimp as much as any fan, but rappers tend to get this recognition and new fanbase when they die..the single is just as hot before pimp's death.

If you re-read what I wrote, I clearly stated that this was the single of the year prior to Pimp's passing. I'll even dig up the thread when this song first popped off in like May and I made the statement back then that it was the single of the year...

This song was single of the year before Pimp C passed, and now it's even more deserving.
how did i mis-interpret that??
-
Aight Ron and Luna, I ain't been on here heavy for a couple of days but I sense some tension every time you 2 are in a post together. What's the deal?
-
^dude thinks he always right..he said its even more deserving after pimp's passing..i said i think that's wrong...he said i lack comprehension?? that don't make no fuckin sense
nowhere did i say that he said its ONLY single of the year cause of pimp's passing, but he DID clearly say it's more deserving now
and i lack comprehension :D
-
Well lets all try to keep it agree to disagree.
-
It ain't tension, more like whippin your child when they fuck up. It's more painful for me than it is you bruh, but what can I say, I carry the cross.

fact: u said int'l players anthem is the single of the year a while ago
fact: i agreed
fact: u said it's even more deserving now that pimp has passed
fact: i said that is some bullshit, because the man die (r.i.p 2 em) it ain't no more deserving now than it was before his passing
don't try and use ur age 2 deny me pointing that shit out :D

First of all, you're all wrong. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" by Kanye was the single of the year.

Make Me Better
and
Lil Girl Gone
were also good singles.
-
For me is without a doubt Chamillionare feat. Slick Rick "Hip Hop Police". And the video was fresh as hell too.

Very valid arguement. Cham is without a doubt one of the most talented and original cats in the mainstream today. Loved that joint.
-
My fav main stream single this year was "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and Keri Hilson. Her voice is amazing!!
I wasn't feeling any other hip-hop single by any artist. Only albums I did like were Sunday School and WC's album. Not one other song, on any other album, this year, did I like :(
-
^^^ You need to check Ulitmate Victory, I have it in my car for 3 months and STILL haven't got tired of it. The last time it felt like that was uhh..... Doggystyle ? For me that is of course.
-
^ I'll check it out. I feel the same about WC's album, I've never listened to an album as much as that one.
-
Make Me Better
and
Lil Girl Gone
were also good singles.
Lil Girl Gone was a dope song indeed! One of my favorites from Waiting To Inhale 8)
-
Top 5
1.UGK-Gravy - sick fuckin beat, bun b and pimp c spit it so beautifully, and that fuckin' bass line, cot damn!
2.Jay-Z-Say Hello - Probably one of my favorite Jay-Z songs of all time, jay gets back to his drug roots
3.Little Brother-When Everything is New - What can I say? "Dope beats dope rhymes nigga thats Hip Hop"
4.UGK-Int'l Players Anthem - It's already been said already...
5.Evidence-Letyourselfgo - Alchemist rips this beat, Phonte drops the hook, and of course Mr. Slow Flow shows how well he's improved

Co-sign on both statements. Even though I rarely heard that song on radio or video >:( Shoulda been played more. That single & Kanye West-Stronger. I was gonna do a best song of the year but there would be way too different on opinion there.

Saigon - Come on baby
WC - Guilty by affiliation
oh, and Game - My Bitch (it was leaked this year yeh?)
-
My top would be Frontline- It's Goin' Down..That hook takes the rhythm of an old Steve Miller Band song, shit is so catchy.
-
single of the year >>> Timbaland - The Way I Are
not my type of track to bump but damn this track was everywhere when it
came out and it still is. the radio and club is still hella playing this.

that whole album is under-rated, has to be a contender for album of the year.
-
My favorite tracks that came out this year were:
DJ Envy & Red Cafe Feat. Sheek & Kool G Rap - Buck Buck
Styles P Feat. Black Thought - Cause I'm Black
50 Cent - I Get Money
So far as best single, I'm wit Hatesrats ;D
50 Cent - "I Get Money" can't go wrong with the classic Audio 2 sample...

without a doubt, that shit was near classic.

No competition
"50 CENT - I GET MONEY" WAS THE DOPEST SINGLE THIS YEAR
I'm still bumpin this shit. 50 should have released this as his 1st official single and then AYO Technology.
It would have blown up.
-
I'm having a hard time picking one single track, but a nomination would be this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87c2fzN5s7Q

Dope for sure. Sounded like classic Nas. Better than all tracks on Hip Hop Is Dead.
