Lakers all ready contacted Tyson Chandler and he wants to play for LA badly but hes a restricted Free Agent and Lakers have no money to sign him because they are over the salary cap. Any deal the Lakers would offer, the Bulls would match it therefore keeping his ass in chicago. forget about Walker, Rahim coming here thru free agency and just about any other Big Name Player. The only way they are coming here is if they sign for the Mid Level Exception. And they are expected to make more than the MLE with any other team.. other than that, the only way lakers will attract big name player would be via trade. if KG doesn't come thru Mitch has other plans. Lakers have $26 million worth of expiring contracts so please believe Lakers will get A player they need via trade. Phil knows this. there are lots of ways you could work around the horrible roster mess lakers are in.

This roster + Rudy T - chemistry was enough to make the 6th spot (shit, they coulda' even climbed)...I think with Phil Jackson + improved chemistry, they could easily surpass an 8th spot...Then you got trades and draft picks coming for improvement...Who knows when they'll be a championship caliber team again? They can easily turn around with the quickness. Shit, Spurs did it in '99...Suns and Seattle got close this year...LA has much more will power than all 3 of those teams combined...Jerry doesn't like to lose... 8)

LA has more will power? This team they have right now doesnt stand a chance next year, or any year with, or without Phil without makin some MAJOR moves, they wont go anywhere....unless a #8 seed IS the goal. Lakers. I mean Phil already have 9 rings, he's 60, he doesnt have to prove shit, he's like Dr. Dre! Plus his wife is the daughter of the Lakers owner, he loves the Lakers, he watched the Lakers this season on tv, he's still in contact with the Lakers organization, he knows Kobe Bryant and he knows he only cares to win (so they can handle every problem if they want to), and Buss father can give him 10-12 millions per year to do that. Lakers wanted him so the hornets decided to draft him and at least get something for him. who in his right mind would trade Kobe for Divac voluntarily (even back then) to begin with? That's the common sense part of it. In addition to that, it is a well known issue that Kobe always wanted to play for the Lakers and demanded a trade to LA even though he was straight outta high school which was really unlikely back then.. people knew he would develop into a quite impressive player, and there's no way the Hornets would've traded him if everything had been all good. It's not like this is some lay low shit. Shit went down pretty hard. Divac hated Kobe for that.

No man he was right. Kobe wanted to play for New York or Los Angeles, and he menaced Charlotte like the other guy said. So Jerry West was able to "steal" him. Divac of course wasnt happy about it, but that's another story. Kobe said "Los Angeles or i'll play college".
