I exited upon learning that I would not be able to use Robert Swift as part of my list.

On point.
-
Maybe the best list on here. I was going to add Kareem instead of Mikan, but I realized I needed diversity and so I added a white guy. And it's no mistake Mikan is in the place of George Washington. Washington was the first president, Mikan was the first true NBA superstar, and he helped integrate the game by asking the Lakers to play the Globetrotters. If there is a TRUE Mt. Rushmore of the NBA, Mikan has to be in the Washington spot for all he did. Russell has the rings, Magic was the great team player and Jordan is the marketer, but Mikan was the first superstar. And my MVP numbers would be way higher had they given out MVP awards during Mikan's prime.

nik, to answer you no that's not a real list because to me the idea of a Mt. Rushmore is corny, I just like using players you hate 8)
but Duncan is better than Kobe, fact.

I was about to say, no one Laker, not even Magic, that's not a Mt. Rushmore at all.

CANT TAKE U SERIOUSLY IF U DONT ADMIT U TROLLIN

5 rings, 2 MVP's, 3 nba finals MVP's
ain't trolling, it's truthing.

duncan is the only one on ur list to not repeat as a champ. every1 knows the 2nd title of a back-to-back is the harder one....duncan is a system player. u already have bill russell on there. 2 system players wont cut it.
-
who gives a fuck about repeating?? if you win 5 titles does it really matter if none were back to back? hell no.
and calling duncan and russell system players just proves my point at how stupid this discussion is, especially with Laker stans in it
3 lakers and no celtics on a mt rushmore? hahahaha that's a joke son.
-

def factors into how great you are...like i said, every1 knows the 2nd of a back-to-back is tougher than the 1st. duncan aint got what it takes to do it. simple science.
russell was the 5th leading player on a championship team
duncan averaged under 30 minutes on a championship team
again....system players (ESPECIALLY IN COMPARISON TO THE PLAYERS THEYRE NEXT TO)
and realistically, i coulda had all lakers...thats how great our franchise is. replace mj with wilt and it's still a much more valid list than yours...but wilt didnt repeat, so i put mj.

I want to be fair to Russell, he also was the BEST player in an NBA championship team, his best year being the 1960 Celtics. He may not have led in scoring, but he also had 24rpg and was the second leading scorer during the playoffs. He also was a player/coach later in his career, meaning he may have been a system player, but he was leading the system. His basketball IQ was second to none in NBA history, as only Magic ever came close. So that's my defense of Bill Russell. He may have been a system player later in his career, but he was leading the system.
-
lol nik thinks mt rushmore is a mt stanmore
Jordan, Bird, Magic and Russell is the most logical "mt rushmore" but it's retarded because basketball has 5 players on the floor at a time, it's not a 4 player sport.
and Bill Russell won all thoe MVP's for a reason ::)

lmao@bird over kareem being logical. slap yaself.
-
I'd agree with Sccit, Kareem is more logical over Bird. As I put down, the only reason I put Mikan was he was the first superstar. So I put him in that Washington spot as first president. But Kareem was the best college player in history, and one of the best big men ever. Even later in his career, he was out performing centers like Is Hakeem. If you go by pure skill, then Kareem is in Mt. Rushmore. But I just wanted to stay true to the spirit of monument and highlight that first spot. Washington was not the greatest president, and if I was to redo the real Mt. Rushmore, I'd have Lincoln, FDR, Jefferson and Teddy. Basically replacing Washington with FDR. So with that, that's the only reason I left out Kareem, because Michael had marketing and modernizing the game, Magic was the ultimate team player and Russell has all the rings. And Kareem is the greatest big man to ever play the game and greatest college basketball player of all time.
-
you can't have TWO centers on a Mt. Rushmore
you could make the Mt Rushmore Russell, Wilt, Kareem and Michael Jordan though - i could get down with that 8)
-
you can't have TWO centers on a Mt. Rushmore
u had bill russell and tim duncan..almost identical as players, both pf/c

who cares?
a list of 4 in a discussion of a 5 player sport is dumb.

who gives a fuck about repeating??
When you gonna realize all his criteria is just based off of what Kobe already accomplished? Lol.
-
who gives a fuck about repeating??
When you gonna realize all his criteria is just based off of what Kobe already accomplished? Lol.
true.
if Duncan won 5 rings the same way Kobe did Sccit Bayless would be telling us "It's because the teams he had those years were great" and that it's a true measurement of greatness to win 5 rings but not have a good enough team to do it back to back
-
who gives a fuck about repeating??
When you gonna realize all his criteria is just based off of what Kobe already accomplished? Lol.
But that's everyone's criteria, not just basing it off Kobe but basing it off your favorite player. If you like Montana, then you are like, "don't talk to me until your QB wins 4 Super Bowls. Or if you like Kareem in basketball, "don't talk to me until your favorite basketball player gets 6 MVP awards with 6 NBA titles." It's just what fans do to turn the argument to their favor.
If I was as big of a Magic Johnson stan, I'd have lots of arguments for being the best assist person in the game. Like scoring, so in Magic's case he only averaged 19ppg, but he also had 11apg. So if you say every assist counted for 2 points, Magic was involved with 22ppg, and you add that to 19ppg and you have 41ppg. Jordan on the flip side, he had 30ppg, but only 5apg. So if you have those 5 count as 10ppg, Jordan was involved with 40ppg. On top of that, Jordan had 6rpg, Magic had 7rpg, and Magic shot 52% and Jordan shot 49%. And with that, I just made a case based off my favorite players strength as to why he's better than Michael Jordan.
-
It's pretty stupid to always bring up your own criteria and then have 18 holes that work against your own argument lol.
That's why more and more of his posts are truly Bayless/trolling like because he just can't defend himself anymore.
-
who gives a fuck about repeating??

yea... because repeating doesn't add to your legacy. the dumbass shit u say needs to be kept to yourself my ficca

that's actually right ... Duncan never had to suffer through terrible teams, as prime Kobe 04-08 did.

It makes no difference. When LeBron does it you just say "oh, it was a weak league".
But three weeks ago you're on here trying to tell me Melo's Nuggets & Chris Paul's Hornets were some all-time great teams lmaoooo.

50 win teams are 50 win teams. Lebron has only eliminated 6 in his entire career, compared to Kobe, who's eliminated 26 50 win teams. the perks of playing in the east.

Most MVP awards

until Lebron wins his 5th
But he'll never join this one... most NBA titles... LOL... I love #4. (there were a few other players with more rings but not on the generator because they were Celtics role players, and KC Jones... like really... no KC Jones who's a Hall of Famer?)

Dude, nobody cares about those petty stats. As the walls close in & LeBron is entering his 5th straight Finals, going for his 3rd ring, you're just switching up the criteria because you're running out of arguments. "He played in the East" lmaooo. Like it's his fault the East has had some weak teams. Like it takes away from him he wanted to go back to Cleveland. Like he was SUPPOSE to go to the West or that's some punk move.

the point is that he'd be a b grade player in the west and that he'd easily have a few more first round exits under his belt. you're right that it's not his fault he has it easier, but it factors into his accomplishments.

I think you guys are trying to argue about the same thing, but using different ways of measurement. First off, LeBron is still one of the best players today. To say he'd be a grade B player in the west is RIDICULOUS! Straight up. I think Curry is a better player than LeBron right now, and he will be better than LeBron baring injury for a long time to come. But LeBron is still a top 3 player in the league.
Also, if LeBron played in the west, there is no way he'd be making his 5th trip to the finals. Name one team in the last 5 years in the east that was even close to a legit contender. Indiana? Atlanta? Everyone knew Atlanta would fold eventually. Chicago? They must be paying some kind of karma for the Jordan years with all those injures. Seriously, if LeBron had to go through Dallas, San Antonio, Los Angeles (either one depending on the year), Golden State, Oklahoma City, then LeBron would be lucky to have been in the Finals 2 our of the last 5 years. Not to downplay what LeBron did, I'll always argue that those teams are still part of the NBA. But let's not get it twisted, the east is HISTORICALLY bad. Like, I can't think of another time one conference has been this bad, not even the West in the 80's. Like this is awful.

LMFAO, 37-18-13 & NIGGAS ARE USING TERMS LIKE "TOP THREE PLAYER", "STEPH'S BETTER" & "HE'S A B GRADE PLAYER".

Steph is leading a team with a better record in a harder conference with less weapons. In 2015, Curry is the best player. I would agree in 2013 that LeBron was better, but in 2015 the game has changed.

You think the Warriors would trade Klay, Draymond & Iggy for JR, Shump & Dellanadova?

Is Green good because he's actually good, or because he's playing with Curry. Dude came in the league only getting 3 ppg and 3rpg. It's not like he was Kevin Love or something. And would you rather have Kyrie Irving or Klay? Dude, Cleveland is STACKED. They went all in, and that's okay. But Golden State was built.

Lebron is playing a team that won 60 games
if Kobe beat this Hawks team you wouldn't hear the end of it from Laker fans ;D
and smh @ M Frogg For Obama saying that JR Smith, Shumpert, James Jones, Dellavewhatever his white ass name is and Mozgov are better than Green, Klay, Bogut and A.I. part 2 - just an awful point to make. may god have mercy on all our souls for having real that post.

Name one expert that picked the Hawks to win?
And why do you constantly forget that Irving and Love are on the Cavs? The Cavs went all in, and they got pieces that are very talented that LeBron can work with. Golden State has talent that they built and Curry had a hand in making better over the years. The difference, while many in Golden State is doing better now, when they came in no one expected a Green to be a star, Bogut was considered an injured prone liability to a franchise, and Barnes is great, but he's not quiet a complete project yet.
Mozgov is having a better year than Bogut, JR is averaging more points than any player in Golden State not named Curry or Thompson, and the Cavs are a roster full of talent. The Cavs traded to get rough riders, they traded to get talent to get LeBron to the finals now, and they are putting all their chips on red this year.
Face it man, even though Golden State is doing better right now, make no mistake, Curry is making everyone better and he is better than LeBron James right now. Steph Curry is a better player than LeBron James, this is a fact now, not a theory, not a question, but a fact. Steph Curry is the best player in the game. I just hope he doesn't have a concussion.
-
lebron fans love making it seem like his teammates are scrubs when they really got an all-star squad.
-
Irving? where has he been this entire series??? miss me with that shit son.
Love? where is he this entire playoffs? 3 games against Boston, wow Lebron really needed that help ::)
Laker fans love making it seem like Gasol, Artest, Bumknee and Fisher were scrubs and that Kobe had the worst team mates ever (except for Hakeem, right?) ;D

Please, to get through the east, he doesn't need all that. But lets not forget those are his teammates, they played all year and without them the Cavs a lower seed, not the 2 seed. (and in the west, without Irving and Love the Cavs would be watching ping pong balls.)

Cavs went 1-8 when Lebron was hurt

Yeah, yeah, and that's why they made massive trades to change the team to win now. At the time they thought their other talent could win now, once they failed Waiters was gone and a whole bunch of new people came.
-
Draymon was an absolute BEAST at MSU. His draft stock fell because of his height. The fact you even compared Steph's leadership to LeBron's is a flat out joke of a comparison. That team is on all cylinders because they all bought into the style of play. Curry just happens to thrive off of it himself the most. The Cavs have a bunch of players who got their careers wrote off by fan. Now revived and about to play in the Finals because of one man.
-

The only thing Curry has on LeBron is range and FTs. In EVERY other aspect of the game, LeBron is either equal or better.

You can ask Sccit, when I thought LeBron was the best in the world, I said it. I got in a lot of debates with Sccit over it, he called me a fake Laker fan and everything. I still think LeBron is a top 3 player. But I'm being unbiased. Steph Curry is the best player in the world. It's not even a question with me. I think Curry has surpassed LeBron. Right now in 2015, if you told me to draft a team to win now, and I mean right now, and I can have anyone in the NBA, my first pick would be Curry. Curry is playing better than LeBron, and he's still improving. Give me Curry, less drama, less chocking, better shooting, and he is making his teammates better.
You can talk about the system the Warriors run now, but the Warriors were winning with Mark Jackson. Mark Jackson who really didn't have a system, just motivational speeches. Curry is now thriving in a system, but even without it the Warriors were great. And Green is a perfect example of why Curry makes players better. Green in Michigan was a defensive player, he was a big power forward who got rebounds and blocked shots, and against the right opponent he could score. But he went all 4 years of college. You making it sound like he was a blue chipper right out of high school and a high draft pick. He was a SECOND round pick. His ceiling was serviceable forward who can come off the bench and grab some rebounds and give a foul when needed. That was his ceiling in the NBA. But with Curry, he has transformed. He went from projected defensive specialist to now being a defensive stopper who can score. Curry makes Green better.
Admitted, you can reaching here. Curry is better than LeBron, LeBron's peak was great but he's on that other side of the hill now. And Curry has 5-7 more years of his peak.

if draymond green played with lebron, he'd be rendered useless and out the nba right now....u have to be either a spot on shooter or a lob-specialist to thrive with lebron.

You right. LeBron is a lot like Shaq. I think of players like Eddie Jones and Cedric Ceballos, before Shaq they got in the lane and they did their thing. But with Shaq you needed more outside shooters who can knock down a kick out. LeBron is the same way. It's why Chris Bosh struggled to play with LeBron. LeBron takes up so much of the lane, and ball time. If you have a team like the 2001 Lakers with LeBron, then LeBron would do great. I almost think he was designed for the triangle. Lots of ball movement and lots of knock down jumpers. Curry on the other hand is a true point guard who gets the open man the ball and he puts players in position to score. I'm just watching Curry these playoffs, my God, I think he's amazing. All year he's been, but man, he's doing it on this level. Just amazing.
-
You can ask Sccit, when I thought LeBron was the best in the world, I said it.
I almost think he was designed for the triangle. lebron woulda been a role player on the 2001 laker team.....shaq clogs up the lane and is way too dominant to allow lebron's fragile ego to thrive. shaq ala lebron needed knock down shooters on the perimeter to keep the lane open for him to operate. thats why kobe was able to excel with shaq and lakers were able to threepeat. inside-out game. considering lebron couldn't stroke it like kobe, he'd have to embrace a pippen type role to thrive with shaq, and we all know his sensitive primadonna ass would never do that.

I should have worded that better, I meant that LeBron would need a 2001 Lakers type team, minus Shaq and you can have Greg Foster at center... LOL.

You guys sound so NBA uneducated right now. I'm embarrassed for you both.
Fifth straight NBA Final. Good God.

Niggas straight trolling.

That whole east vs. west conference argument is retarded. West is clearly a better conference and East is weaker. We all agree with this. BUT. When Lebron picked East, it automatically meant he'd join a WEAK team in a weak conference. If he'd join west, he'd joing a STRONG team in a strong conference. So if Lebron went to a westcoast team, I believe he'd still be in 5 straight finals. He's just that good these years. Imagine Lebron on any West team that's not completley garbage. Things always even up in the end.
Fact is, Lebron is playing with scrubs the whole conference. Love is not playing, Irving has been like like he's on wheelchair most of the time. Lebron really matured and made an average team a great one. I don't know why this is so hard to admit. If anyone argued the Miami team, ehh, alright, but this Cleveland team? Not to mention this whole argument is ridiculous because not one of these NBA superstars won a NBA championship by themself. They ALL had support, they ALL had the team built around them.

na, Curry has more support though lmao.
But seriously, I don't know what's so hard to understand about this. Just have to be a bitter hater to not see the absolute greatness ensuing in front of your eyes.

Lebron is great like Isiah Thomas was great....not like u want him to be
-

You're trolling is weak like Will B's is weak.....not like the Sauce guys you want to be.
-
I'm not trollin limp-wrist
-
You are though, nigga. You're the angriest guy in LA because everyone else already leapfrogged the homie over Kobe.
-
no one has lebron over Kobe all-time ..... only lebron apologists like yourself who jerk off to his highlights would even compare the twos body of work.
and if anyone is trollin, I pray to God it's you wit all the "GOAT" talk
-
No validity to your argument when you label any person who sees LeBron and says "Wow, that guy is all time great" a "LeBron apologist" lmao.
Nigga is mad Laker fans have made the switch.
-
for some1 who calls lebron the goat, apologist is puttin it nicely
-
He's the GOAT.
-
see. u belong wit them sauce ficcaz....and that's why i kilt them
-
Not a Lebron fan at all, actually hate his guts lol. I'm a Laker/Kobe fan all day, but you can't compare Lebron to Issah Thomas. Lebron is one of the best players of this generation and could go down as one of the best players of all time. The dumb thing about this entire discussion is that basketball changes, it evolves, its a different game. The Jordan era isn't like the Kobe era, the Lebron era isn't like the Kobe era. The competition, the way teams play, the skill and the rules are all different. But to sit here and try to downplay how much of a beast Lebron is, is crazy. But on the flip side I would also say at this moment Curry > Lebron. It will also be interesting to see Lebron as he gets older and continues to lose his athleticism.
-
^naah u downplaying isiah .. back to back champion in a much tougher era. don't get me wrong, lebron is great and he's a beast. but u just said urself that steph curry is currently better...and lebron is in his PRIME. my point is not that lebron isn't great, it's that he's not a first tier great, wit the likes of magic, Kareem, Kobe, MJ etc.... he falls in that second echelon of dr j, Isaiah, Dominique etc.... still a great, but not what he's made to be. look at the competition he's facing.. I mean, seriously bruh, he hasn't had to beat in elite team once to reach the finals. it's incredible how he has the road paved for him....this finals will tell a lot.

You don't get it. He would've had a better team on West, since the west conference is better. It evens up. You can't just transform the weak Cleveland team to the West conference scenario. You gotta think Mavs, Grizlies, Portland ect.

a better team than Love, Irving, lebron??
and before that, wade, bosh, lebron.....
lol I don't think so brodie
-
Westcoast conference is better, you said it yourself. Does a better conference not equal better teams in your world?
-
how can it get better than the all-star squads he's been playing with since 2010? seriously. he needs at least two franchise players on his team to compete in the east. that's my point. which superstar out west has 2 franchise players as their teammates?
-
Franchise players lmaooooooo. Wade's been on crutches since 2011 & Bosh was ridiculed the entire time.
Your logic is so fucked when Kobe's first three rings are because he was the #2 to the most dominate center in history. You can show your little go-to graphic of like 2002 playoff stats (even though stats don't mean anything when the numbers favor LeBron lmfao), but the Finals MVPs don't lie, cuz.
Westcoast conference is better, you said it yourself. Does a better conference not equal better teams in your world?
& yeah, how do you convince yourself this isn't true? Your narrative is this "Oh the Cavs would get wiped out in the West"...but he'd be on the Spurs, Clippers or Rockets & you would just be crying how unfair it is.
& your logic is EVEN MORE fucked because you have tons of posts saying how attractive LA is for superstars to come. In a perfect world for you, Marc Gasol, Westbrook & Jahlil Okafor would be playing with Kobe & you wouldn't bat an eye; just trying to explain to the forum how Kobe is "leading" them, averaging 16 PPG as the #3 option.
That failed Lakers team with Nash, Kobe, Pau, Howard, on paper before the season was regarded as an unrivaled, unequivocal, hands down the best roster in the NBA. & if Kobe knew how to run the team like Phil did for him & the Lakers coasted all the way that year, that would have just been "#6" & you'd dismiss any notion that the team was stacked.
There has to be close to 100 posts, just this year alone, where you wildly contradict yourself.

you claim lebron is the GOAT. that is all.
-
Solid dodge.
-
if u guna sit here and deny that theyre franchise players while claimin lebron is the goat, theres really no reason to argue...but ill shit on u anyways.......wade "on crutches" averaged 20 ppg in the 2013 finals, only 5 points less than lebron. and in 2012 playoffs, wade "on crutches" averaged 23 ppg to lebron's 26....lol u really love lebron enough to sit here n deny wade was a beast durin those runs. as for chris bosh, he was the best player on a playoff team THIS season before gettin injured....chris bosh is equivalent to lamarcus aldridge, and he was a THIRD OPTION. u guna bring up kobe playin with shaq, but dwyane wade+chris bosh=shaq (at the very least).....and not only that, but kobe also did it with much less in 2009-2010. pau gasol was his second fiddle lmao. pau gasol, who is the 3rd best player on an eastern conference team that got bounced in the second round....now u guna bring that season where old ass nash was injured half the season, and dwight faggot was playin comin off back surgery/couldnt even jump half as high as he could in his orlando days/on a game thats dependent on athleticism....with mike d'antoni runnin the show. kobe literally blew his achilles out willin that team to the playoffs, with the best second half record in the nba once he took matters into his own hands and started ballin out.....and even tho i gave u 1 this time, some1 who argues that lebron is the GOAT doesnt really warrant a response. go to sleep.
-
So to paraphrase that for the people who don't want to sift through your on-going bullshit.
Sccit Bayless Logic A - "LeBron needed Wade & Bosh, which is why he's not the GOAT".
Sccit Bayless Logic B - "Wade & Bosh = Shaq...but Kobe's still the GOAT."
Nigga can't go a complete two sentences without contradicting the last.
& lmaoooo, "did it with less in 2010"...just had hands down the best roster in the NBA; equivalent to your Finals opponent. Talk about a cakewalk to the Finals three years in a row. At least even though Shaq ran the show, the Kings were a formidable opponent in the West. 2009 niggas playing Chris Paul throwing alley-oops to Tyson Chandler.

AGAIN, IDIOT, KOBE WON WITHOUT SHAQ. HE WON WITH PAU GASOL AS HIS SECOND FIDDLE. SO UR PATHETIC REACH IS NOT GUNA WORK. U MAY GET AN "LOL" FROM 7EVEN AND HACK, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, UR STILL RETARDED.
AND AGAIN WITH UR DUMBASS CLAIM OF 09-10 LAKERS HAVIN SOME EXTRAORDINARY CAST...LMAO, A BYNUM WHO AVERAGED 20 MINUTES AND 7 POINTS IN THE FINALS BECAUSE HE COULDNT STAY HEALTHY. A LAMAR ODOM WHO NEVER MADE AN ALL-STAR SQUAD, WAS KNOWN THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER AS AN INCONSISTENT UNDERACHIEVER/WHO'S BEST ACCOLADE WAS SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR, A WAY OUTA PRIME RON ARTEST WHO COULDN'T EVEN MOVE LATERALLY ANYMORE/WAS OUT OF THE LEAGUE JUST A YEAR LATER, AND PAU GASOL...U REALLY NEED TO RETHINK UR ARGUMENT, SON. AS FOR COMPETITION THEY FACED, SHOULD I PULL OUT THE LIST OF 50 WIN TEAMS KOBE WENT THROUGH IN COMPARISON TO LEBRON'S AGAIN? LEME KNOW, I'LL DO IT.
-
You're just rewording things for the sake of your argument lmao.
Was that roster an all-time great roster? No, but the NBA in 2009-2010 wasn't a strong NBA. I guess the best way to explain it to your incompetent mind for you to understand is say, the gap between the Lakers & the west that year was the same as you think this year's Cavs was to the east. Not a relative rival in the NBA, outside of the Celtics.
& I don't know why you bash Ron Artest. He was huge for you in the playoffs...and you're lying, he was with them for three years after that lmao.
-

Kobe won it with less than anyone else in NBA history .. bottom line. at this point ur just grasping at straws lolsmh "Ron artest was huge for you guys" yea that 11 ppg on 41% from the field was extraordinary lmao.
-
Stats don't matter, you clearly didn't understand what you were seeing.
& lmaooooooo @ that claim. So blasphemous.
But all good, take it...that's about the get shattered when Matthew Dellavedova gets that first time & automatically becomes better than Jordan Clarkson because he's a champion...thanks to the King.
-
and if they lose u will once again say "oh man lebron didn't have enough", lebronze bout to be 2/6 in the finals, but always gets a pass from his groupies, excuses come a dime a dozen from yall

If Kyrie goes down & you still think those lineups are anywhere near evenly matched, you're basketball autistic.
If LeBron pulls this off, undeniable GOAT.

KYRIE IS NOT OUT.... BUT IF LEBRON IS ANYWHERE CLOSE TO AS GOOD AS HIS APOLOGISTS MAKE HIM OUT TO BE, THEN CLEVELAND SHOULD WIN REGARDLESS
-
lolol, he's "expected" to play. He's been hurt & missed time in the last two series. Hope he doesn't, but a gambling man would bet he misses at least one game, if not two.
lol @ that being the new line. I've posted it 4 times & you've ignored it every time. If Kobe played with Dellavedova, JR, Shump & Thompson for huge chunks of games, you'd post excuses for another decade for why Kobe went 32-50.
